Someone Who Won't Be Attending MJ's Funeral
One of Michael Jackson's closest friends and confidants, Dame Elizabeth Taylor will not be attending today's public memorial for the late King of Pop.
Why?
The retired actress takes to her official Twitter to explain! Yes, she has one. Yes, that's really her!
Says Taylor:
"I've been asked to speak at the Staples Center. I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word. I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event. I said I wouldn't go to the Staples Center and I certainly don't want to become a part of it. I love him too much.
My love goes out to Katherine and Michael's beloved children."

Whether he was guilty of child molestation or not, Michael Jackson has left a lasting impression on the world. His music will live on forever. But what of his personal life? His "children" were not actually his biological children. When Jackson died, he was financially bankrupt. His now-cancelled London tour was supposed to reverse his difficult financial situation. What remains of his estate after his creditors are paid off will go to Prince Michael I, Paris and Prince Michael II. His ex-wife Debbie Rowe was intentionally omitted from the will.

The controversy surrounding Jackson's personal life will never go away. And fewer men will eventually volunteer to work with young children, especially wealthy men. They have the most to lose in the event of allegations of misconduct, real or false. Organizations like Uncles at Large and Big Brothers and Sisters are hurt by this scandal in the long run. Several years ago, a white male friend of mine left the early childhood education profession as a result of pressures from parents and his own colleagues. Why do men who work with or who volunteer with children have to be constant targets of suspicion? Whatever happened to trust and innocent before proven guilty?

She is one of his closest friends, practically family. I can understand why she wouldn't want to share her grief, it's too painfull…
Even at her demented age, Liz knows when to stay away. Even his closest friend realizes the rediculousness of what's going on. Where was all this security and tax payer waste of money when L.A. was burning down during the riots and stores looted? Better yet, when dumbasses caused problems every single Lakers parade? To serve and protect who? The wealthy who should be paying for their own whoopla. Well said Liz.

Dame Taylor has already begun a week long memorial "open house" where the real V.I.P.s will be sharing their memories of the fallen star. Her staff has set up over ten 52" HDTVs throughout the mansion and it's gardens to broadcast the Staples ceremony. There's talk of something remarkable happening…perhaps a halogram of Michael saved for this event.
