Slumdog Star Finally Gets New Home!!!

It's about time!!!!
The makers of Slumdog Millionaire have finally purchased a new home for Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, one of the film's young stars that was promised the property after authorities demolished their homes in the Mumbai slums last month.
The purchase of the 250-square-foot one bedroom apartment for the family of the ten-year old was completed on Monday.
"They can move in. I'm just waiting for their consent," said Nirja Mattoo, who helps oversee the Jai Ho trust set up by the filmmakers to help Azharuddin and co-star Rubina Ali.
The apartment, which cost about 2.5 million rupees ($50,000), will be transferred to Azharuddin when he turns 18, provided he completes his education.
The trust is now actively looking for a home for Rubina.
The government has also started the process of providing both children apartments, and the family of Azharuddin, nicknamed Azhar, hopes to keep both.
"After Azhar is grown up, he can stay in one," said his mother."Me and my husband can stay in the other. Both houses are small."
Azhar's family toured the government funded apartment on Tuesday, which was described by his parents as "small but good."
"The only problem is it's far away from Azhar's school," she continued.
We think that they could have received bigger apartments since they were only $50,000, but the family should be grateful.
At least they are off the streets!!!!
We don't trust the parents!!

They should be grateful? They bought them an apt far away from his school. How is less likely to complete his education if he is too far from the school. Are you that stupid?
Couldn't they have sprung for one more bedroom for the family? Of course it's better than pieces of cardboard and metal but still…..
Looks like he throws like a girl.
The parents need to quit bitching…it's an upgrade from the cardboard shack they just left! At least their bathroom isn't a coffee can anymore.
so many comments on this one. ha!
This child was on the streets, of course an apartment is an improvement. India is not America folks or like it, at least they did something they were not obligated to do anything.
250-square-foot is not small…
Not this again… The last time you posted a story like this, a bunch of ignorant idiots posted that 250 sq ft is so small and they should have bought them a bigger flat.
If any of you idiots had ever been to the slums of India and seen what conditions they live in, you would think they are now blessed to be in a proper 1 bedroom flat. Most of the people in the slums feel lucky to even have a home.
Step out of your bubbles, India is not America.
Danny Boyle and the rest of the people involved in that movie are pieces of sh!t.
They made hundreds of millions of dollars and could only give that family a 250 square foot apartment?
My garage on my house is 750 square feet.
I hope he and the rest of them burn in hell.
$50,000 for a 250 sq. foot apartment, that's a definate ripoff, that is way too much money for a one bedroom apartment! They made a lot of money off that movie, i'm sure they could afford a bigger place for him and his family.
You'd think $50,000 would go a lot further than 250 sq ft in India, especially the slums
definitely a nice step up but… one bedroom? seriously? at least make an effort to seem like a decent person.
Oh my god, perez, how could you possibly pass judgement on this boys parents, while you sit there scoffing another twinky, drawing on celebrities pictures? they've gone through more hardships then you can ever imagine. You bitch about getting popped in the eye, try going to mumbai and spending one day with these people. You continue to make me sick, and even more disgusted with each passing day.
$50,000 for a 1-bedroom apt?? You could get a whole HOUSE for that much here!
