The Michael Jackson Memorial
Here are a collection of performances and highlights from the tribute to Michael Jackson on Tuesday.
Watch celebrities and friends such as Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer and more eulogize and remember the King of Pop.

They all did a really great job : )
Didn't watch it live, not going to watch it on tape. I ain't honoring no pedophile.
we will miss you,
thank you michael
Watched the entire memorial at home. Good thing I had a box of Kleenex next to me. Thought I had my "doo doo" together until Paris spoke. More Kleenex needed. Touching memorial.
And where's the most touching tribute, from his daughter? The rest is too showbiz for me - don't know why half these people are even there.
They did a great job, the ending was beautiful….
Memorial was great. luv'd Sharpton's speech n the way he snubbed Joe Jackson
His poor daughter ..
Paris started to talk and I started to cry. Shes so cute. Want to save her from all the pain (sry I´m german).
Brooke´s speech was touching too.
Am I actually first?
It was pretty sad when his daughter spoke
when his daughter spoke it was so touching
Amazing except for the weird Lionel Ritchie contribution. It was not a nice hymn and did not seem to fit. He should have sung a Michael Jackson song like everyone else. I am glad no one is replaying it. And why was that moron Corey Feldman there and not Nicole Ritchie? He was her godfather for Pete's sake!! And what about Miko? He has been on Larry King all week saying they were best friends blah blah blah but did not speak. Also Diana Ross should have been there.
I forgot to say like everyone else on the planet I lost it when little Paris cried at the end. Poor little thing. I bawled my eyes out.
the memorial was so beautiful ,Paris Jackson break my heart ,so cute and sweet ,R.I.P Michael
I loved Magic Johnson talking about Michael and their friendship.. It was so touching when he remembered how one night he was at Michael's place and Michael asked Magic what he wanted to eat. Magic said he wanted grilled chicken. So the cook made grilled chicken and they all sat down to eat, and Michael Jackson had a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken in front of him. The whole Jackson family kept laughing when they heard it. For some reason it touched me so…..
To the person who mentioned Corey Feldman and why he was there - he was a child actor and had known Michael FOR YEARS. In case you didn't know, Corey starred in several movies before he even became a teenager, as did his friend Corey Haim.
i loved shaheen jafargholi's performance (:
It was a wonderfull tribute, and I cried through it. Then his daughter talked and I sobbed.
Bless her heart.
it was a beautiful tribute
marlon, jermaine, paris, shaheen and Reverand were the best - rev's speech was so moving - "thank you michael"
we love you xx
poor Brooke, she tried to be so strong
i meant al sharpton
This was put on very well and tastefully. I cried through most of the memorial and was torn apart when Paris spoke. Those poor children. Good ceremony LA, you did the king proud.
They all did a wonderful job. Michael Jackson will always be remembered for his influential music and self.
Re: TRex01 –
I know - she got me too! heard it on the radio this morning getting ready for work and had to re-apply my mascara!
I felt like the Jacksons let us, the WORLD, into their lives for a day, and I thank them for that. It was a beautiful service… RIP Michael.
“I want Michaels children to know: Wasn't nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what your daddy had to deal with." -Al Sharpton
WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“I want Michaels children to know: Wasn't nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what your daddy had to deal with." -Al Sharpton
“I want Michaels children to know: Wasn't nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what your daddy had to deal with." -Al Sharpton
this was amazing.. as soon as he said that, he got a STANDIG OVATION!! and Berry Gordy saying that "Mj is/was the best entertainer that has ever lived"
PREACH IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone did a great job except Mooriah, she is so fake and insincere!
It was wonderfull to see how Paris reminded the world that Michael first and formost was a daddy. God Bless these children who will have to live without their father, the only parent they ever knew. Today i respectfully and tearfully watched this memorial, but yet it still dind't sink in that he really is gone.
Re: soccer mom –
MJ is famous for ordering KFC. All his fans knows that. ALWAYS when he flied jet, his meny, despite being in the morning or late afternoon consisted of request of KFC.. He loved to eat there!!
Wow, I liked that John Mayer guitar performance. He also looked pretty damn good too.
Re: tick_tock_tick_tock –
If it upsets you so much to see the coverage on this, who put a gun to your head and made you log online or turn on your tv to see this….free world dearest, you have the right not to read about it…
I loved the fact that KOBE BRYANT talkes about his charitywork and stated that MJ was the pop-star who has given most money to charity… gooooooooood that he said that too.
Re: Perez Wears Pink Panties – You say you "Ain't honoring no pedophile." Wow, very intelegent of you…I hope 'yo mama n daddy are a proud." Doofuss.
it was beautiful his daughter Paris had me crying
Poor Paris…but she is so brave to get up there and talk to all these people. I hope she and her brothers will be given time and peace to grieve. Brooke's speech was amazing, so sincere and touching.
I could've done without all these celebrities performing, I understand they want to pay their respects but none of them compare to the King of Pop. (Jennifer Hudson was the worst, I'm just going to pretend that didn't happen.)
RIP MJ…;(
OHHH AND BTW, THAT PIG OF A UGLY ASSSS PALE LOOKING NO GOOD PIECE OF SHITT THAT I WOULD LIKE TO BEAT THE SHIT OF BASTARDO SOB ASSSWHOLE BASTARDO "PETER KING" only wants to ride on the glorious Micheal Jackson's coat tail, he wanted to be part of this magnificant memorial and spewed out his wickedness, ohhhh I CANT WAIT TILL HE DIES AND MEETS MICHEAL JACKSON AND MICHEAL MINIONS AFTERDEATH HOPE HE GETS SOULD TORTURED. LETS ALL PRAY PETER KING GETS SOUL TORTURED FOR ETERNITY THAT WOULD BE SWEET. Payback is a beytoch you never speak mean speech about the dead especially those that people loved sooo much. LOVE YOU MICHEAL JACKSON YOUR SOOO LOVED LOVED MORE THAN ANY OTHER CELEBRITY IN HISTORY. RIP OUR KING OF POP! BESOS.
Awesome……..A NUMBER AROUND 1 BILLION PEOPLE WATCHED THIS MEMORIAL. Michael Jackson wins the game.
"and beyond all of his records that he broke as a recording artist.. Michael even made it in the Guinsess book world records for MOST charities supported by a pop-star" -Kobe Bryant.. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
"and beyond all of his records that he broke as a recording artist.. Michael even made it in the Guinsess book world records for MOST charities supported by a pop-star" -Kobe Bryant.. WORD!
Re: Mizjanfen – Agree, Al Sharpton said that Michael had an amazing mother Katherine, and that Michael's children have the best grandmother in the whole world. And not a word about Joe Jackson. Very hard not to notice it. And When Al Sharpton went to the family after his speech he hugged all the Jacksons except father Joe. I guess Al Sharpton knew the truth about the family. I understand he was very close to them.
Thank God its done..now the world can go on!! geesh!!! Why doesnt anybody mention the fact that HE was totally to blame for leaving his kids daddyless. He's to blame for hurting all those people who loved him in his family.. He would NOT admit to a drug addiction or reach out for help so…oh well….And to charge the people of L.A. for that shit is obsurd and uncalled for. Let his rich prick friends pay for that shit, not taxpayers who didnt ask for it all.
Re: minaahm – molesting children and bleaching your skin is strange
Great tribute, I was at work when I watched it so I had to keep myself from bawling, but little Paris was so touching, I feel for that poor little girl. Oh and no video from Mariah's crap performance? Her voice was the only thing that gave her any kind of relevance, if she can't even sing anymore, what else has she got???
Re: minaahm – just what did "the world" do toMichael Jackson except try to figure out the WEIR things he did..the surgery..the glove…the boys ,the bleaching, the surgical masks,…and all the rest of it…no, he was the strange one sorry.
I just couldn't stop crying , it was all so touching. And when Paris took the microphone it was a breakdown for me.
I am just so happy that they gave us the chance to feel like a part of the memorial.
Thank goodness it didn't turn out to be a "circus". I cried when Paris Jackson spoke. Am so sad for the kids. RIP Michael.
what a beautiful tribute to Michael! Cried my eyes out through the whole thing. My heart broke when his daughter Paris spoke.
I didn't intend on watching any more than a few minutes of it but I really got sucked into the whole memorial and it was truly heartbreaking to see so many people's reactions and speeches.
Re: minaahm – I LOVED ALL OF THIS IT WAS SO MOVING AND A FANTASTIC TRIBUTE! REV AL WAS AWESOME AMEN TO THAT!!
I LOVE YOU MICHAEL XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
It was so beautiful. Definatly worth waking up at 6 in the AM to watch everything. I started choking up listening to Brooke & Sharpton talk and during Hudson's performance.
But I burst into tears when little Paris tried to speak and started crying.
It looks like Prince and Blanket (who is about the cutest little thing ever) were holding it together alright, but nonetheless so hurt.
Everyone was so strong today.
Re: Haagen-Dazs – If Katherine Jackson was truly amazing and a woman to admire..she would not be sitting along side that bastard Joe or even speaking a word to him for the rest of her life, for the way he treated her and her children all these years…so I get why they love her, she's their mother…should women in general admire her? The answer should be a loud proud NO!!!!
Unfortunately I watched the MJ memorial. I'll never get that time back. If I had known the bullshit would get so deep I'd have worn some boots.
And all this time I thought the media was making Obama out to be the New Messiah. I was wrong. MJ is the new savior of the world. I'm just waiting for him to rise from the dead.
THAT WAS A FREAKIN AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME MEMORIAL… GENUINE TASTEFUL AND MJ WOULDVE BEEN MOVED… I JUST WISH WE COULDVE GOTTEN A LITTLE PARTIAL GLIMPSE ….. and also wish that his friends and family wouldve intervened to prevent this tragedy
RIP MJ… HATERS::: LEAVE HIM ALONE
can someone tell me
after jenniferhudsons performance….was that poem by michael?
if so when did he write that?
that poem made me cry
i thought at the memorial to close, they should have shown footage of his rehearsal two weeks ago in the same arena
Re: kissmyassobama –
unless you wasnt there or you havnt read the courtscrips.. then just hut the f up. I have and so has NBC's chief legal analyst. Following the trial he wrote a column addressed to those who were upset with the verdict: "The case against Jackson was so bad that even you would have acquitted him based solely upon the evidence. Yes, it was that bad." If you want to come out as a independet and rational human being, do some research.
Do you KNOW for fact that he bleached his skin? NO.. NOONE knows.. it can be vitiligo and it can be that he deliberatly did that.. but it had NOTHING to do him not wanted to be black. Mj has throught his years said he is a proud afroamerican. He has done so much for the black comunity. portrayed Black people as kings and queens in ancient Egypt ("Remember the Time" video)
-called Tommy Mottola (his then label boss) a devil and a racist
-sang "white man's gotta make a change" live on the Grammies in '88
-sang about a beautiful African woman in "Liberian Girl"
-featured an African chant at the end of "Wanna Be Startin Somethin"
-donated over $25 million to the United Negro College Fund
IF he did bleach his skin on purpose, it was so because his insecurities.. his LOW self-esteem. And the surgical mask.. MJ wear those because his skin, due to depigmentation, can NOT be exposed to sunlight. Start doing some researching BEFORE you pass on a judgment.

I agree with the fact that A. Sharpton did a pretty good job not to mention MJ's dad. But next to that he went way to far by saying that because of MJ people voted for Obama. Excuse me but if u ask me it's the hard word of people like M.L. King and other great men/women..
No, I'm not saying MJ is not a legend, cuz he is, in music and also in charity, but don't go an say he helped people being able to vote for Obama..
Anyway, next to that it was a great memorial and I was trying really hard to not try when Paris said what she said. It's so sad, i just hope these kids are protected from the press etc, cuz to them it's their dad, not the legend we say he is.
it's reportedly that ONE BILLION PPL all around the world watched the memorial on TV!!!!!! take that.
After watching the cnn videos I got to see the part I missed and it's amazing to see how many people Michael Jackson knew and how much he did for the world.
You never really hear about how much he actually donated to charity. It was a great Memorial and I hope the tabloid magazines and websites let him rest in peace.
When Paris began to talk I just bursted in Tears!!!
as heartbroken and confused fan, i just want to THANK perez hilton for NOT posting the saddest thing i have ever seen (re hiss 11 yr old daughter in grief) - leave paris jackson alone! grief like that is for Private-i am aghast at every media organization that bitches about perez - BUT - he is Respectful enough Not to air the footage that is not meant for us - he wanted us to leave them alone- a true fan, of mj., and perez,
u r both dignified and a part of the world - rip mj
I HAVE GOT TO AN MAKE APOLOGY!
After seeing Michael's daughter talking about her father, I have to tell everyone that I am sorry for making the comments that he was an unfit dad! Obviously he was a good dad.
God Bless his Children!
John Mayer was a nice surprise. Paris Katherine really got into it and sang along…she sure loved her daddy:(
Re: Aimee999 –
No. She sang the song WILL YOU BE THERE by MJ.
And that "poem" is included in the song.. look for the longer version on youtube.. the 7 min long version
Brooke Shields was BY FAR the best speaker of the day!!!!!!!! Love her!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>
And for you haters, MJ was proven innocent. Let the man RIP now!! The shows OVER!!
RIP to the greatest entertainer
Usher did great…. Man, I cried so much!!!
"It was Michael Jackson who made us sing WE ARE THE WORLD and feed the hungry long before Live Aid… there are those who like to dig around mess, but millions around the world, we are gonna uphold his message..it's not about mess, it's about his LOVE message.. Michael rose to the top, he outsang his cynics, he outdances his doubters, he outperformed the pessimist's.. everytime he got knocked down, he got back up, everytime you counted him out, he came back in, Michael never stopped.. I want Michaels children to know: Wasn't nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what your daddy had to deal with, but he dealt with it."… WORD!!! The crowd cheered as hell and a standing ovation for this!!! Best speech ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: KarenKski – How sweet of you.
Re: bronte1314 –
I disagree. That footage of little Paris should be shown. She decided to speak about her dad and let everyone know she adored him and thought he was the best. Something a lot of shit talkers forget is that MJ was a dad. I really doubt anyone here would like to hear nasty comments about their dads if they were to pass or have already passed.
I hope this reminds you, Perez, that when you talk shit about celebrities, you are attacking real people and the ones who love them. You probably thought you were hilarious when you wrote that post (which you later deleted) about Michael faking illness to get out of performing in London. Let this be a lesson in humanity for you…
i saw it i cried like the whole time they all did a great job =*)
Wonderful tribute to Michael… I cried when Usher was touching the casket and singing "Gone too soon", Usher totally broke down at the end….I had tears in my eyes a few times, but listening to Michael's daughter Paris crying at the very end and saying that her father was the best father in the world and that she loves him totally broke my heart.
Rest in peace, darling Michael.
May God bless your children and watch over them.
I didn't cry while watching the memorial at home until Paris came to the mic. When she started to speak I burst into tears. It reminded me that even though MJ was the King of Pop, his most important job was fatherhood. And there is no doubt in my mind that he was a wonderful father.
Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – He wasn't a child molester and you all will see the day the truth comes out when those two dumb kids admit it was their parents making them do that because they wanted money. So he didn't want to be black? Big deal. Men change into women and women change into men…that isn't strange? Nooo everyone thanks that's normal now a days and don't say shit about that. They get laws to help them not get made fun of, called a hate crime. People need to start looking at themselves before making other people's lives hell.
Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – You want him to rest in peace?? You stupid fuckin hypocrite, and you're pig ugly to boot. OINK OINK!!
Anyone else think this is bizarre and overboard, just curious. How did he go from freakish recluse to this kind of random emotion from strangers. I think this is way blown out of proportion into a crazy circus with everyone having dollar bill signs over their heads.
Re: minaahm – Yeah, you just keep believing all that stuff honey….hahahahahahahaha . Unbelievable how gullable people are. I bet you think the ghost is real at neverland too huh?? hehehehe…go away with your Theories..I,m not interested.
Re: minaahm – Feed the world… feed the hungry..bla blah blah……but blow 5 million dollars on a memorial …thats hypocritical.
Hey - I actually just got back from the tribute and am amazed noone has commented on the OBVIOUS way Rev. Al ignored Joe. He even almost goes over his program!!
NOT SURE WHY THEY LET SHARPTON GET UP THERE AND RUIN AN OTHERWISE BEAUTIFUL MEMORIAL WITH HIS DIAREAH OF THE MOUTH
Re: Quemical – i saw it 'live' and spontaneous or not, i feel that as it was so completely insanely sensational - iow - i strongly feel that repeating it Not Live on media outlets is sensationalist, contradictory to what mj would have wanted - perhaps his childrens' thoughts at a private funeral - i was exceptionally moved when i saw that little girl at the memorial - BUT - i just think that perez hilton, with all his quirks, has kept an ethical decision re his re-media posting of sensationalist events and, particularly Chilren in Grief, is not our biz…just sincerely my opinion re his decision to post that,
cordially and respectfully
R I P MJ - smile
Re: kissmyassobama –
Michael has paid taxmoney to the state of California for a long time. And he is not a nobody like you.. meaning he has paid a lot of money. More than you will ever give in your lifetime. USA and Cali MUST give this back to Michael. The owe this to him. AmeriKKKa owes this to the biggest superstar on the earth. He has done so much for ameriKKKa and cali.
He deserves this so screw you. Not his fault that the economy is wack post-Bush. FYI, I do not believe its a ghost at neverland.
He has been dead for over a week now - give it up! I am tired of turning on the TV and Michael Jackson is on every channel… Hopefully now that this tribute is over, we can get back to normal, day to day life.
my heart completly broke when i heard paris speak.
…I don't see anyone worth honoring around here…
Re: Perez Wears Pink Panties – pedophilee??? you are a shit
Today I cannot stop crying!! MICHAEL WAS & ALWAYS BE AWSOMEE!! GLOD BLESS HIM FOREVER & EVER!
When the perv ends up in hell, I hope he is locked inside a naked seven year old's body. With old skeezers and geezers tuggin and pokin at him for eternity. IF….you know what I'm sayin.
Aaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah…………!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he was a pedophile.
Do child molesters go to heaven?
I hope God makes Michael feel what its like to be a ten year old and have a creepy twisted freak molesting him.
agh i cried so much….so sad hes gone…cant believe it.
Re: minaahm – yeah lets blow 5 million dollars and make the taxpayers pay for his funeral. Youre right, I may be a nobody compared to him, but I dont need a $40,000.00 coffin to prove i was a decent human being.That gold box doesnt make him any more special than thousand of other great people who died on this day. People who die quietly and with dignity without a parade of fake hangerson that need the limelight.
Re: minaahm – I bet you believe he is innocent about molesting a kid he paid MILLIONS to to shut him up. If some snot nosed little fucker accused me of something like that and I KNEW FOR A FACT I never did anything wrong, I sure as hell would NEVER in a zillion lifetimes reward the fucker by handing over my fortune to him! Was he insane as well?? He had to of been!! I would ROT in PRISON before that scum kid would ever see a PENNY of my money!! So why??? He could have proved he was innocent but he KNEW he was busted on that shit. He just paid them off & made it go away. What a FOOL!!!!! So dont tell me he was so damn innocent. His bank account certainly spoke the opposite ..about 20 million in the red…!!! Kid had him by the balls..LITERALLY.
Shaheen, Jermaine and Usher's performance made me cry BUT the one that made me cry even more was Paris at the end
If I'm accused of raping kids I hope I get this kind of tribute.
Fact: Jackson lied about how many surgeries he had on his face
Fact: Jackson paid millions to quiet a victim he molested
Fact: Jackson lied to his manager and others at the rehearsal the week of his death when asked straight up if he was using. He said QUOTE..NOOOO I would never..why would you even ask me that??? I have children….
Fact: 2 days later he was dead from drugs.
So he wasnt the messiah he acted like. oh hell NOOOOOO.
