DreamWorks To Produce Film Based On View-Master? WTF???

Studio giants DreamWorks are reportedly chatting with Mattel to buy the film rights to the company's View-Master toy!
The toy, a "plastic gadget that lets kids see 3-D images printed onto cardboard discs" may see a film adaptation produced by Transformers screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and the studio has already tapped Fringe writer Brad Caleb Kane to pen the script.
What would the plot of a View-Master movie even be????
And, really, WHY????????

There has been talks about this for some time. It has a plot. But, can't think of it right now. If Steven is involved it should be interesting.

How is it that the one person in the world who has never seen this toy is the one who gets to describe it? 3-d images printed onto a cardboard disc? They're photo slides mounted in cardboard. And how do you make a movie out of something that is made from movie scenes to begin with? Mirror of a mirror of a mirror?

i loved this toy, I think i still have it at my grandparents house, to me it seems interesting enough to make me consider going to it, I have no idea what the plot could be but my creative mind can allready see it work and i'm angry they thought of it instead of me.
ok, first you criticize movie studios for making remakes and then when they try getting a little creative you blast them first chance you get. give em a break
I could see this could be really good. Aslong as its not about the making of the View- MAster but I could see something very vivd and orginal from a View Master beinging a huge part in a child film.

I had one of those! Didnt like it very much, I threw it away not too long after…
Ummm… Jumanji, anyone? Some modern kids find an old view master in an abandoned pile of rubble and wait! It's magic! Whenever you place a new travel disc in the view master, you are instantly transported to that place, geographically and in time (40 years ago). If you put in the Disney disc, you're suddenly in a cartoon with the usual suspects. Etc. Duh!

What if it was a serial killer movie and the clues were in the children's 3-d pictures?
What Ever Is Seen In The View Master You Could jump In And Be A part Of That World. Get Good Actors A Good Script And Make It Happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly the people heading Dreamworks are very old. View masters were hot in the 70s and 80's, kids like 2,000$ laptops now, Get with it Dreamworks!
Re: truthbetold – Yes, thanks. Also Back to the Future was a DeLorean, the Mask was a mask of Loki, the most recent Indiana Jones was a crystal skull. Maybe the Viewmaster is inexplicably found in a secret compartment of an ancient pyramid and has pictures of other worlds.

Can they stop going back in time for a second geez??!! I'm so interested in the past, and I do remember the view master but the ideas that these movie productions come up with copying and such, the writers might as well go on strike again cus this is bull sh*t.
WTF? How do you make a movie out of a product unless it's a documentary on the history of that product or a film on how a product is manufactured?

I bet u $100 that the movie will have to do with some kind of time travel….like u insert the cardboard picture wheel and press the thing on the side of the view master and bammm ur at wherever u were looking at…honestly, i'd see it….if thats what it was about.

Hollyweird Land's running out of ideals for movies!!!………Here's an idea, what about casting two actual gay or lesbian actors in a movie portraying gay and lesbian couples working for equality and fighting discrimination!! (Not that fake Brokeback Mountain bullshit) BTW, I'm totally hetero, just would like to see homosexual people actually played by homosexual people. (Sean Penn's a douche and didn't really do Milk the justice it deserved) Also, would love someone to produce Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter Series into feature films (would totally blow Twilight out of the water) Any suggestions who can play Ash, Simi, Savitar, and Appolymi?
