Mariah Too Choked Up, Explains Jackson Memorial Performance
Mariah Carey has posted a lengthy explanation on her Twitter about her performance yesterday at Michael Jackson's memorial!
Carey was noticeably choked up while performing the Jackson 5's I'll Be There at the Staples Center on Tuesday.

"Just recovering from the day. Still filled w/sadness as we listen to KJLH in LA (Stevie Wonder's radio station) paying tribute to MJ. Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me.
One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people. He inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts."

I think it's worth remembering that he was probably, singly, the greatest dancer and musician the world has ever seen.
Certainly when I made the documentary, there was a small part of that which contained a controversy concerning his relationship with other young people. Whatever. Still doesn't change the fact that she sang like crap. Usher was choked up too, perhaps even more than Mariah and he sang beautifully. Mariah is over.

It doesn't matter if it's a memorial service or a concert. She sounds the same. Her voice is completely gone, and her excuses are dismal. Cute of her to try to use her grief as a scapegoat, though.

The only reason she wrote this mess is most likely due to 95% of the online reviews from the public were scathing to say the least and now she is freaked out and making excuses the same way her loony fans do regarding her voice. She did't have her usual backing track to fall back on.

I'm sorry kids, but I don't buy it. The young man standing next to her sounded wonderful. Moo Moo just needs to own that she sounded bad and looked like a tramp with her big boobs hanging out right they in front of MJ. I was mortified more by her dress, which would have been pretty had the neckline not dipped to her belly button.
Not buying it-Jennifer Hudson lost her whole family, is like 20 months pregnant, was clearly choked up and sang so beautifully. Mariah did pick it up and sounded better at the end-but she doesn't have it anymore, and what was with the right hand movement-like she was trying to pull her voice out of the air?

Not impressed with her vocals at all. But then again, I haven't really been impressed since her first album. I'd be willing to bet she's got serious vocal problems like nodes. And all the ridiculous attempts at terrible staccato riffing just showed her vocal insecurity. She's done as a serious vocal performer.

First of it all, it was a memorial service, not a funeral. The family apparently didn't have a problem with what she wore, why do you? LaToya Jackson's neckline was very similar. Why isn't anyone talking about her? You call someone classless, but yet have the nerve to call people you don't even know "hookers", "slutty" and "sleezes." Exactly, it was a memorial service, not a playdate in Vegas, which means, dress like it. It was still an evening meant to honor and she disrespected that by wearing such a suggestive outfit. This dimly lit bulb can't seem to wear anything that covers both her legs or her chest. Do u think the family was doing attire check? Most ADULTS are reponsible enough to know what is deemed OK to wear. But since she wants everuone to do nothing but look at her, it stands to reason. LaToya wasn't wearing anything relatively close to the tacky ensemble that Mariah wore. Just stop.

Being the first performance of the ceremony really put more pressure. Regardless, I have never heard this song with so much emotion. She did a great job!

it could NOT have been easy for her to sing to a legend she loved soo much and had an actual friendship with for many years. She loved him so much she covered his song, when she barely ever covers songs, as she is an immaculate songwriter and sings her own original songs, anyways she is an amazing singer, she doesn't need to prove that to anyone!
