Lita Ford Vs. Joan Jett

With the movie The Runaways, starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, well underway and Lita Ford releasing a new album, it was only a matter of time before some old bad blood resurfaced. As Lita was once a part of the band that gave Joan Jett her start, she was recently asked how she felt about the upcoming bioic movie.
Her reply was rather revealing!
“I just want people to know that I have nothing to do with that film," she says. "Joan’s manager offered to buy the rights to my life story for a thousand bucks. I thought that was pretty disgusting — we never even replied.”
Yikes! A thousand bucks. That's how much they're probably paying K-Stew's vocal coach - per hour!
That is a pretty big slap in the face.
While she doesn't directly point any animosity towards Joan, even suggesting that there is a place in her heart that Joan will " always" be in, she does hold a grudge towards the fellow rocker's choice in staff: "Their manager has managed to cause a war between us — this has been going on since 1985. So far, I’ve kept my mouth shut, and I don’t know how somebody like him can spend so much time trying to destroy somebody else’s career. Joan and I have done nothing to hurt each other. I’ve always loved Joan. I don’t know what the problem is with him — he really goes out of his way to fuck me up"
Well, not everyone can have Sharon Osbourne for a manager! But the guy sure sounds like a douche! He should know not to mess with someone who can handle an axe like she can!
Plus, to add insult to injury, he got a real nobody to play her in the new flick! Scout Taylor-Compton? Anybody ever heard of her?

Handle an axe?? Lita Ford is a horrible guitar player! You should learn something about music if you're getting your own "label"— whatever the fuck that means anymore. You'll probably charge your bands for stamps, get a hunk of their merchandising, bleed them dry and drop them like all good record labels do.
I was a facebook friend of Lita (the snob) Ford and when she found out that Dakota Fanning was playing her in this movie she ranted and raved over it. She talked about it a great deal and then did a photo shoot where the stylist and make up artists didnt even give her a decent hairstyle or manicure (her fingers were philthy). Joan Jett makes Lita look like a hag and a spoiled sport!

I wonder if people who grew up as teenagers in the late 70s, early 80s bother watching this move. Rockumentaries are SO much more interesting than docudramas.

I will see it as I cut my teeth on 70's rock and live near Cleveland. When a friend and I picked up Joan Jett for a concert for the Football HOFF Ribs Burnoff concert a few years ago she and opener Sophie B Hawkins (know who that is PH?) made out in the van. I had NO IDEA that she was a lezbo. Still love her music tho!!!

There were so many scuzzy artist-managers that the archetypical manager was the butt of industry jokes, so Lita really can't be surprised. Good call on the laughable offer, as if Lita doesn't deserve the rights to her own story. He sounds like a class A _ _ _wipe. I guess he keeps his eye on the money ball that is Joan, and sees no one else. The good managers are people people.
I'm a pretty big Scout fan. And it's rich of you to sling an insult like that at her when you're always pushing washouts. Like Discordia said, IMDB her. She's had a lot of roles, she was even in Beyonce's Obsessed that you were all over.

I thought alessandra was playing lita, i cant stand the real lita, but i like the actors who have been cast so far. I cant wait for the girl on girl action, yeah sick i know, but i cant wait!

Lita Ford is one of those women who think (thought) that inorder for a woman to make it in hard rock/heavy metal they have to dress/ act sl*tty and talk nasty. She really wasn't all that talented. Put her along side anyone else–male or female–and she's alright but not spectacular. She needs to just be quiet and be thankful someone even remembers who she is.
