When Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies raided Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch in 2003, drug and drug-related paraphernalia was found in droves.
Below is the list of discovered items:
- A vial of powerful sedative, Versed
- Several IV bags containing "a milky white fluid, located in a small cardboard box on top of the bathtub." Propofol and other anesthesias are milky white.
- A vial of Promethazine, an antihistamine with strong sedative effects
- A bottle of Alprazolam, a generic for Xanax
- A bottle of Percocet, a painkiller
- A syringe
- A vial containing Demerol
- Numerous loose pills outside bottles
- A bottle of Prednisone, a steroid
- Ery-tab, an antibiotic
- Filled prescriptions for Xanax
- Prescription for Alprazolam
- Oxygen tanks
- IV stands

…it is tragic. Someone should have drug him into a rehab even tho' I already know you cannot do that if the person is an adult and does not consent. Do it anyway. Money talks and people around him could have done more to save him. I may not have been his biggest fan but it's all about humanity. The man needed serious help. Very tragic. It makes me wonder about the extent of his abuse (that he received as a child.) I think it was probably much worse than many of us realize. Sounds like he was trying desperately to escape some kind of pain he was carrying with him.

Versed (Midazolam)?? Seriously? That's along the same lines as Propofol (Diprovan), but it acts like an amnesiac, skeletal muscle relaxant, and anti-convulsive, mostly used as a pre-operative sedative before general anesthesia. Its most often used with Fentanyl or Demerol for surgery. If you don't use it with an opioid, you kind of get the same effect that the movie 'Awake' depicts. It can be used orally for extreme insomnia, but it only knocks you out - it doesn't keep you asleep because it has such a short half-life. Its also used on a very very short term basis for insomnia. This is another drug that the average bear should not have access to. What I want to know is if he was taking THIS caliber of drugs on a daily basis, when was he awake to be 'dad of the year' to his kids? His whole like was utter bullshit.

Promethazine is actually used to treat multiple different issues, specifically it is used for people with severe stomach issues - this can include people on chemotherapy, or others taking antibiotics or intravenous medications that are abrasive on the stomach. What is unfortunate about these events is the FDA will want to start to push for harder regulations due to one mans desperate need to fill a painful space in his life. These medications all serve a purpose, however I think it is time instead of harsher regulations to be forced to present identification when getting these drugs….I have no idea what one could do about doctors handing out hardcore anesthetics though….Although I will say it is tragic that his sleep issues came to this point. I know many people, including myself, who have suffered from severe insomnia…I think the key was that we all had figures in our lives who cared enough to get us proper treatment, not just people who would be willing to create and feed problems.

Promethazine is generic for Phenagren - it is used mainly for nausea. Makes sense he would need that, considering all the opiates he is ingesting.

He had Lupus and that is very painfull since I have a friend who has it. The painkillers were probably partly for that. To take Demerol to fall asleep on a routine basis is crazy!!!
Promethazine is commonly used as an anti-emetic and anti-nausea (keeps you from feeling nauseated and vomiting) medication, many times in conjunction with anesthesia. No doubt it does knock you on your ass when you're not used to it (I have a prescription for it), but it was probably used to keep him from feeling sick from everything else he was taking. Very sad.
Two sources I've found thus far. Diane Diamond and Fox News. Both anti-Jackson. It would have been great coming from an unbiased source.
