More Good News Concerning North Korean Detainees

We mentioned yesterday that Lisa Ling received a call from her sister ,Laura Ling, who is one of two American journalists being charged with trespassing in North Korea. The sentence has been issued as 12 years of "reform through labor" for illegal border crossing.
Now, we can report that the North Korean government have delayed sending Laura and Euna Lee to the prison labor camps, in hopes that this will open the lines of communication with Washington.
University of Georgia political scientist Han Park was supplied the news from North Korean officials and passed the information to American media.
He says, "North Korea's move not to carry out the sentence suggests that it could release them through a dialogue with the United States and they could be set free at an early date, depending on the U.S. gesture."
In the meantime, the woman have been held in a guest house in the North Korean capital, where they are "doing fine."
Specifically, the North Korean government doesn't seem to be wanting much from the U.S. government. All they seek are "an official apology over their hostile acts and promises that such things won't happen again."
We think that is reasonable. Give them what they want and bring those poor women home where they belong!

Hey Perez…post the picture of that goofy bastard Obama checking out a 16 year old girls ass.
Praise the Lord! Bring these women back home to their families!
they broke the law……they know they broke the law…..is 12 years to much….uh…yeah….but…..we are a country who has learned to live with out consequence and it is a shame……THEY BROKE THE LAW…should we turn them into heroes when they come back???? surely not…….
Whatever it takes, bring them home safe ASAP!
Who cares, they're Asian they're disposable
They knowingly broke the law. You don't knowingly break the law in a communist country and expect to get away with it. The U.S. should apologize for nothing.
Shouldn,t been there in the 1st place. All to get the exclusive story on regime thats run by a frickin nut job.Let them sweat abit more then you can bring them home.
North Korea will ask for money in order to release them. That's the way they operate.
Did you know that the US gvt pays North Korea $100k each corpse of american soldiers killed during the war? They're making money out of the remains of US soldiers….
please blow that piece of shit country off the planet already.
shit i was looking forward to these idiots doing a little labour, once again an empty threat from north korea. when will they grow a set?
hmm… i agree - not too bad - but exactly were our "hostile acts"? that we said we would shoot down a missile if they launched one? and how could we ever promise not to do so again? i think obama's going to have to very carefully word this one so that it doesn't hang him up in the future.
An apology from the U.S. is never gonna happen. It's political suicide from a global position. And that's why North Korea wants it.
FOR STARTERS… LISA LING IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE JOURNALISTS. ONE OF THE FEW THAT I STILL HAVE ANY RESPECT FOR.
.
HOWEVER, HER SISTER AND THE OTHER JOURNALIST KNEW THE RISKS AND SHOULD'VE BEEN MORE CAREFUL.
.
THE NORTH KOREANS ARE ASKING THE U.S. GOVERNMENT TO PUBLICLY BOW DOWN AND APOLOGIZE. YOU MAY THINK THAT IS REASONABLE, BUT MOST OTHER PEOPLE DON'T.
These "poor women" were obnoxious law breakers. They should rot in jail!
WHO THE F CARES - why were these two news whores nosing around North Korea - stupid bitches - they get what they deserve. Maybe some North Korea soldier meat.
Re: buck – 1 Leave it to you DUMB FUCK BUCK.
.
THE VIDEO CLEARLY SHOWS THIS DID NOT HAPPEN!
.
FUN WATCHING THE REPUBELICKEN PARTY IMPLODE!
NOT THAT I DONT FEEL FOR THE WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES…I DO, AND ITS TERRIBLE WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THEM…BUT DOESNT AMERICA HAVE THE POLICY THAT WE DONT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS…AND THAT IS WHAT KIM JONG IL IS, A TERRORIST!!!
you think it's reasonable for the US to admitted the actions of these two innocent women was a hostile act? I can't see how that would work postively in favor of the US.
Yes, bring these women home!
But why would we apologize for something we haven't done just to appeal to their ego and give them "just cause" for continuing to be a*holes? It fuels the fire. A big fire.
We have to get these women out… but I'm not sure saying "oh okay we were totally wrong. Yes, your crazy ways are acceptable." is the way to do it. know what i mean?
Re: NotFamous – ACTUALLY LISA LING STATED THAT DURING THE PHONE CALL HER SISTER ADMITTED THAT THEY DID INFACT ILLEGALLY CROSS THE BORDER….THO THE ADMISSION MIGHT HAVE BEEN PRESSURED BY THE N.K. GOVERNMENT…ITS VERY LIKELY…BUT FROM THE START I THINK WE'VE ALL KNOWN THAT THIS WAS JUST A WAY FROM KIMMY BOY TO TRY TO GET A LIL BIT OF AN ADVANTAGE ON THE U.S….THO I DONT THINK THAT ITS GOING TO DO ALL THAT GOOD…
Sorry, but screw these women. They were in an area where the border is very vague, and now our international priorities risk being threatened to save their butts. (The border is determined by the rise and fall of the river, and any mud is concidered part of the "bank" of the river, and therefore NK territory). The US should not apologize. Condemning their nuclear activity is not agression on our part, rather it is a response to aggression. We should not compromise our safety for 2 showboats.
Those bitches went over there and broke the law to make a buck! THEY BROKE THE LAW!
Re: SWEETPIECE! – ACTUALLY, if you REALLY watch the video, you'll notice his right arm at his side and the woman he was "helping" had to grab his arm so she could balance herself. once she grabbed his arm, then he brought it up in the "gentleman's" position. WATCH AGAIN!!! don't be so blind this time.
Oh bend over and apologize for these two who clearly broke the law?? Well you're definately asking the right WEAKASS administration! DUMBBITCHES!
Even though they did break the law , I hope they go home to the people who love them most soon !!
Those "poor women" intentionally went to a hostile country trying to get a scoop for some obscure television station they work for. There comes a time when you need to draw the line for journalism and your own safety. You travel outside of the United States, you know there can be consequences for doing that. People need to quit turning those women into poor innocent victims. They knew what they were getting into and did it anyway! America shouldn't apologize for anything!
Thanks for the update, Mario. Unfortunately, every other site on the internet has already reported this story… even eBay.
Re: buck – hahaha i know i saw that on the NY post!!! Hilarious!!!! Anyway i hope they do get to go home even though they did break the law. Plus they'll probably get treated more badly then anyone else there. North Korea hate us!!
Good News Indeed! Great Bit Perez! "Bring Those Poor Women Home Where They Belong"!
We need to stand behind and support our Americans. It's unfortunate that that North Korea is a communist county but we have to remember that the US is the best and most powerful country in the world and we can do anything and everything to help support Americans. Bring Euna Lee and Laura Ling home.
Re: PEREZISAWESOME – 26 Not blind. Far from it. You will see what you want to see. Go blow O'Reilly. Live a little!
.
BRING THEM BACK!!! GO SOUTH KOREA!!!!!
Give it to them Give it to them in a very very nice way America, our leaders at that time fugged that one up something serious
Isn't it amazing how much can be accomplished when you take hostages? /sarcasm
Wouldn't an "official" admission of "hostile acts" just be an opening for more North Korean B.S. directed at the United States?
I'm an American and I'm not certain why anyone thinks these women should be brought home or given some sort of special treatment because of their nationality.
They chose to break the laws of North Korea. They chose to travel, they chose to take certain actions which were illegal.
As far as I can tell these women are grown adults.
Being American does NOT give you the right to be a criminal across the world. It should NOT serve as a 'get out of jail free' card.
People need to use common sense when traveling abroad, and certainly need to learn a little RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY.
I say let them serve out their sentences just as we would and DO force criminals (Even from abroad) who break the laws here.
Hmm… does seem reasonable enough. Plus, we may even be able to ease the nuclear tensions between our countries. Maybe this worked out for the better after all. They do say everything happens for a reason.
Re: Pinkpopcorn – Yes, but WE here in the U.S. don't sentence even TERRORISTS to do "intense labor" for 12 years! We would give them life in prison but I can guarantee you that the conditions of our prisons are better then the conditions or their labor camps. In our prisons they do things such as mopping and license plate molding, etc…. Would you rather mop a jail or most likely be outside all day every day regardless of weather doing god knows what but I'm sure it involves physically demanding, "back breaking" work..
Re: Pinkpopcorn – and Re: beeeeemer –
I agree! I don't give a shit about these women. If one of them wasn't Lisa Ling's sister we probably wouldn't even be hearing about this shit. Those bitches broke the law in another country so they get what they deserve.
What hypocrites people in the U.S. are! I mean, people are up in arms when the illegal immigrants work here and or break the law. We scream about deporting them back to their own country. But when we go into other countries, we except to be able to do whatever the hell we want. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. I am gonna be pissed if these women are released.
WHAT MEAN HATERS AND POSSIBLE RACISTS!!!
AMERICANS ARE SUPPOSE TO STICK TOGETHER!!
BACK TO THE CELEB GOSSIP PEREZ!!
Well I bet they're relieved! But why should the U.S, government apologize? We didn't send them over there.
yeah its about time these asian assholes took responsibility for their actions.
WELL THESE GIRLS HAVE BETTER LEARNED THEIR LESSONS , NOT TO SNIFF AROUND A SOVEREIGN NATION !!
God bless them! God bring them home safe!
Thank God Perez find this request reasonable. I don't know what the Department of State would do without his insight. Seriously though Perez, you need to stick to celeubgossip and leave diplomacy to the professionals.
Oh I HOPE AND PRAY these girls get sent back home soon!!!!
WE need to help them get back home. They went over there to expose North Korea for the nasty country they are. They want to help those who are in the death camps over there. Their action was for a good cause so some of you should not be so hard on them. Kissing N.Korea feet is not the best way to go but I hope something good will be done soon.
Re: SnowAngel1224 – Thank you for stating that.
Give them what they want Obama and let them come home!
