Fort Worth Mayor Apologizes
Mayor Mike Moncrief of Fort Worth, Texas - where police decided to "celebrate" the anniversary of Stonewall with a gay bar raid - apologized for "what happened in Fort Worth" when confronted at a City Council meeting on Tuesday.
"If you want an apology from the mayor of Fort Worth: I am sorry about what happened in Fort Worth," he said.
The investigation into the raid has not yet been completed and the mayor has asked the U.S. Attorney's Office to review the department's findings. Police Chief Jeff Halstead has appointed Officer Sara Straten to act as a liaison between the LGBT community and the police department.

Awww that sucks
He should apologize - what is Ft Worth - Nazi Germany?
That is good of the mayor.
The police where probably tipped off about drug use at the bar. I dont know about you guys but every ladies room in any gaybar I have ever been was where all the drugs where being taken. Fact: gaybar = Drugs.
Because all you gays are depressed addicts. I go to the gaybars because the shots are huge.
I live in Ft. Worth and it is surprisingly more Liberal than you would think. Moncrief is a Democratic. This was just a bad situation.
Since you like to sensor all my comments, I'll make this PG. You dont know anything about anything. You arent learned in law or politics or anything that doesnt pertain to crotch shots or outing ur fellow gays b4 they're ready. Why dont u stick to what you know b/c obvioulsy majority of gays dont want you representing them anyway. All this TABC talk is Texas's problem..you have no say in our state's laws. Same with our Police. The mayor didnt do anything wrong he's just doing damage control b/c some gays like to cry victim at every chance they get…the squeakiest wheel get the oil and all that gay stuff. I dont know why you keep talking about Texas like this is the only place where this is an issue…it obviously isnt. Man, ur a piece.
Wow that mayor knows how to show compassion.
he's a republican and he stands by his views, i respect that. although it doesn't seem very heartfelt, he apologized. what more do you want from him?
the stonewall riot isn't something to be celebrating……..that was a really hard time period for the gay community……… what a-holes those police are…….. and it happened in new york so why did they do this in texas? also an apology should have issued from the police department and the mayor he represent the town; and everything that happens in it is his problem.

What's the big deal? The more poofs that get a kicking, the better!!!!!!
If you want an apology, I'll apologise? That's not an apology!
.
I lived in Fort Worth for (a miserable) 4 months, and it is one of the most closed-minded, homophobic places I have ever been. I found Dallas to be different, but there is such a southern, red neck, ignorant mentality down there when you're outside of Dallas or Austin. It's not everyone there, but people talk openly about homosexuality being a bad thing, and I found it really disgusting.
Stupid ignorant rednecks, the south is full of them.
At least there was an apology… but these raids need to stop.
