Harry Potter Casts A Wicked Spell….On Your Computer!

In the age of the Internet, movie bootleggers have found a new outlet to sell copyrighted movies still in theatres. But, take caution, because the biggest movie of the year could cost you your computer and your identity.

Sources are saying that there are some nasty crooks out there just waiting to pounce on your computer's hard-drive by creeping in alongside illegal downloads of the new Harry Potter movie.

It's being called the most "targeted film" on the web and it's only been out one day, and hackers are using the popularity to their advantage. Using crimeware, the hackers go into people's computers through the download, stealing all kinds of personal information like credit card numbers and bank information.

So be forewarned: Being cheap and lazy and not shelling out the measly 10 bucks to see the flick will cost you more than you bargained for. Besides, a movie like that deserves to be seen on a big screen!

Haha, just go see the movie.

      ;}

    2. 2

      That's ridiculous.
      People are so pathetic.

    3. 3

"Cheap and lazy"??? Are you serious? In case you didn't know, a lot of people are really struggling right now and would be thrilled to have 10 dollars in their bank account at all. Should people steal movies on-line? No, of course not. But don't call people who don't have 10 dollars to go treat themselves to a movie with "cheap and lazy".

Maybe they need that 10 dollars to go buy their baby diapers and formula.

    4. 4

Theater made all the difference, don't watch on a computer

    5. 5

PS using a term like "measly" to describe 10 dollars just shows how cocky and out-of-touch you are with where you came from. To most of your readers, 10 dollars is not a measly amount, and I would venture to say there had to be some time in your life when going to a movie was a special treat. Be grateful for what you have, Mario and please stop acting like everyone has as much money to throw around as you do.

    6. 6

IT WON'T MAKE ME GAY WILL IT?

    7. 7

Fuck Harry Potter, and I agree with Gracie…I'd love if I had the money to go to the movies, but most people dont…sorry we all cant sit at home all day bitching about other people on our "blog" and make the money you do..

and if you REALLY love Harry potter THAT much..you deserve to have ur info stolen. Honestly I think I'd rather have my identity stolen then have to sit through that movie anyway…

    8. 8

Movie tickets are a rip off but this one is definitely worth seeing, the best Harry Potter movie BY FAR.

    9. 9

GOOD JOB!! That's what people get for watching it illegally.

Plus why would anyone want to see that movie in a bootlegged version on a computer. The special effects are brilliant…the WHOLE movie is brilliant and it NEEDS to be watched on the big screen to get the full effect. :P

    10. 10

      bull fucking shit!

The article should point out that only stupid people will get a virus from downloading the Harry Potter movie. They're just using a popular keyword to spread malware using tried and true tactics. In all likelihood, the people who get infected have no experience downloading copyrighted materials. If they did, they would know where to go to get it - minus malware.

This sound like the movie studios spreading FUD in order to scare away casual/inexperienced downloaders ahead of the films release - and inevitable leak on the Interwebs..

wow…so first ok…my friend said he saw your lil cigar at a club while using the bathroom..yes that's gross that he looked over to the stall where u were at but he said it wasn't flattering to see….second..ummm 10$ try 14 in nyc…and that money can help pay for my schooling so maybe you can afford 10 bucks but not the people who work real jobs for a living!

    13. 13

      they're all shitty quality anyways.

    14. 14

Hopefully I can shed some light as to how easy this is to do:

When you rar or zip (put a file into a folder), you can bind that folder with an invisible "keylogger" (a program that send ALL your keystrokes to a website via FTP, you can get one for free go check). Once you type in you banks address, followed by your username and pass, they have it all logged in a text file for their use.

The keylogger program excecutes/ runs when you click on the movie file to play, or sometimes when you even extract the rar/ zip. You would never know.

Virus defense is useless if the person binding the file creates the program themselves, which is not too hard if you just ammend an already existing Keylogger. Someone has to report it before you Virus scanner will pick it up - in most cases thats too late.

My advice, get a mac - at least for now they have far less targeted keyloggers. Or get a cheap second hand laptop for all your banking and email usage. If you must do this with one computer, then join a forum which uses FTP as transfer protocol and make sure you only download from members who have reputation of clean uploads.

Just trying to keep everyone safe here, of course, best is just to leave torrents alone period.

Re: KanyeGayfish – I dont feel it matters how skilled you are, you will not be able to detect a custom binded keylogger.

    18. 18

i saw the movie at the theater btw and it wasn't anything like i expected! 2 much romance and not enough action. it lacked the magic and intrigue of the others. i missed the gang fighting 2gether. by the time the action happened the movie was over. it jus sucked that it wasn't better. however the ending did make me believe that the final 2 r going 2 be amazing like no other. so i am very excited 4 that. :)

    19. 19

The Harry Potter movie not only deserves to be on the big screen, it's IMAX material!

      Go see it. It's AWESOME!

    20. 20

      TAKE THAT TWILIGHT!

    21. 21

Heh, this article is so full of shit.

Why would you bother to say that. It'll only INCREASE it's bootlegged downloads.

    22. 22

Hey now, I'm not cheap and lazy. I work two jobs and stay broke as hell trying to pay my way through college.

looks like alot of you think 10 bucks is alot of money…. Maybe you people should spend more time studying and making more of yourself… Actually.. scratch that.. If we didn't have you people… who else would serve my In N Out burger or pick up my bags or park my cars.. Keep being yourself..

    24. 24

Especially since production company like anything HBO releases stuff just to catch people downloading it. Like Tru Blood for example.

    25. 25

Especially since production company like anything HBO releases stuff just to catch people downloading it. Like Tru Blood for example. PS if you don't have ten dollars to see a movie. Get off your computer and get another job.

      26

Why download it when there are lots of online video streams?

    27. 27

I've already paid like 50 dollars watching this movie (i've seen it twice so far and with the overpriced popcorn and drinks)! And it was worth EVERY penny. I know I'm going to be seeing it like 5 more times before it leaves the theater. It's just THAT good.

    28. 28

It costs me around $50 to go to take my son to a movie, by the time u get popcorn and crap like that .. not that I would take him to this movie… proud of not seeing any of the harry potter films !

    29. 29

What they did here in the midwest was go up 2.50 on each ticket. The normal price to see ANY movie during the week is 5.00 no matter who is in it. For this movie they put a handwritten sign on the ticket window that only Harry Potter
would be 7.50. Yeah it was worth it. just sayin…That's how they beat out so many other movies they charge more.

    30. 30

I just saw it in a huge theater. Sitting on your laptop/desktop could not compare to that….The cinema doesn't charge you because they want to rip you off, but because th quality of the movie is a million times better……

Anybody who downloads the movie and gets hacked totally deserves it…..

    31. 31

Re: graciejem – if they have money to pay for internet they have to go see a movie so shut up

    32. 32

Re: Apeshit – u talk shit but u still vist the site u dumb bitch

    33. 33

First off, yes 10 bucks is a lot to some people now a days. Yes Movies tend to be better in the theater. Downloading- when will people learn to protect their computers better. Free online movies (no downloading) just simple streaming (not illegal).

    34. 34

Re: graciejem – who doesnt have 10 bucks on them ? if they had no money, they wouldnt have a house..

    35. 35

"Measly 10 bucks"? There are those of us that don't have that kind of money just hanging around Perez.

Besides, any one with half a brain knows to STREAM that shit; not download it.

    36. 36

      lovvedd itt

    37. 37

Lol 10 bucks…are you going alone? Food and drinks for the kiddies + tickets + alcohol…

What? You expect me to sit in a theater packed with screaming children sober? ;)

    38. 38

JUST GO WATCH THE MOVIE…MY FRIEND DIDNT HAVE MONEY AND SHES BEEN SAVING TO SEE IT…PLUS EACH DOLLAR WILL HELP MAKE HARRY POTTER THE BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR(:
