Harry Potter One-Ups Edward Cullen
It's going to be an epic battle between wizard and vampire until all the movies are complete. Then, all the nerds can return to their corners with their books and sulk. Until then, the race to see whose movie will do better is still on.
Right now, Potter is in the lead as the newest film installment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is on track to replace Twilight as the third top-selling advance ticketer in Fandango history. The flick has already surpassed Sex and the City, Iron Man, and the latest box office smash, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
We know that this one is going to be epic, but we also have a feeling that after this Potter film surpasses Twilight, New Moon will come out and kick the crap out of Potter. According to a Fandango survey of more than 3,000 moviegoers planning to see Harry Potter, 45% claim they're also fans of the Twilight saga!
Ah, so the vampires will be stealing some fandom from the wizard team. We think they'll have no problem regaining their title come November.
But in the meantime, enjoy it Potter-heads, we hear it's going to be one hell of a movie. Be sure to take nap before heading to your midnight showings.

The movie was okay. I got to go to an advanced showing in Phoenix today, and while I did really like it, as a fan of the books they left out a lot of things that I thought were important. Oh well. Can't wait to see it again soon!
robert pattison is so damn ugly. he looks like f'n frankenstein. but it's alright … all the silly girls who will never get him can keep drooling over him. harry is at least interesting, smart, and cute. i love both twilight and hp though. oh and miley cyrus is ugly. that's my 2 cents.
Went to the prescreening today. It was awesome and I will go see it again. It's my fave so far and I haven't liked any this much since the 1st film. It does go way off the book and they do have a lot of explaining to do for movie seven and the reviews are right its way into the romance story lines, but it rocks the jokes are timed perfectly and the acting is really good you can really tell how they have grown. Yay for Potter.
Harry Potter makes better movies…. and the books are more educational in terms of literacy. Twilight just tugs on females romantics. But I like both. And they both are money makers.

i saw twilight and found it as mediocre as the book. there is no comparison between meyer and rowling. i saw harry potter this morning, and it was incredible, the best yet. harry potter will have a longevity that twilight will not, it's been what 12 years since the first book? in 12 years we'll see who's talking about twilight.

Stephen King nailed it when he said that Stephanie Meyer "can't write worth a damn." The only reason the Twilight series is so appealing is because a large majority of teen girls want to have an Edward Cullen. Twilight satisfies their romantic imaginations.

Its silly to even compare Harry Potter and Twilight. Harry Potter is a classic for all ages that children will be reading for a looooong time. The characters are developed and likeable. Twilight is a now thing and is aimed at a much smaller group (aka teenager girls).

I honestly don't even understand why there's even a "competition" here. Harry Potter has over a decade of history behind it and is on its SIXTH feature film while Twilight is a recent one-movie and four book craze for obsessed twelve year olds to scream "BITE ME" and get reality and literature confused with each other.
The Twilight saga was really great until the last book, Breaking Dawn.
Seriouly it's the weirdest ending, i was laughing as i was readng it.
I've never read the Harry Potter books, but i've seen the first 3 movies and they were great! The story of Harry Potter is way more creative and clever than Twilight.
I must one of the only people on this planet - that can't stand HP. I'm way past being a teen…and can't see how it attracts adults.
For me Twilight makes more sense, but that is me….plus I can't stand anything wizard like…and have always had an infatuation with anything "vampire". To each their own.

I really do like the Twilight series and think K-Stew and the rest of the Cullen clan are solid actors, but Harry Potter is in a league of its own! The Harry Potter series has shattered domestic and international box office records and will continue to do so. Love Harry Pothead!
I LOVE Harry Potter, and I also love Twilight…But in all fairness there is no comparisson…Harry Potter is much better written, and the movies are fantastic..Twilight will be popular, just not in the same way!
Both books are good, however both are aimed at different audiences. Potter is for the magical and is mostly for anyone in the family, young and old. Twilight is for the more mythical, and shouldn't be read by younger kids. It has more sexual scenes. I love both and think both will do good. Potter is more original however, and still has yet to be copied. There are many books out there like twilight, and many more could easily be created like it. Simple as that.

I am one of the lucky people that just got a look at A SPECIAL SCREENING Of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! I got in at 7:30 other loyal fans were waiting 4 the midnight showing! I just got back from this special screening at the Summit Sierra Movie theaters! Let me tell u something this movie is AMAZING, FANTASTIC, and INCREDIBLE! As an HP nerd that I am I can tell u I LOVED IT! I am watching it again on Thursday HP nerd or not get ur asses in the theater ASAP! The reason I say fuck Twilight is the following… Those actors in that movie NEED ACTING LESSONS! and that movie WILL NEVER have as many special effects, FANTASTIC acting quality, or as good a story as Harry Potter Bella is a whiny little bitch who is more than obsessed okay I get it he is a sexy vampire but CALM THE FUCK DOWN BITCH! Wow the Harry Potter story is SPECTACULAR the twists the turns THE MAGIC no way will Twilight EVER be better than Harry Potter! omg i CANT WAIT to see that movie!!!! it's gonna be so awesome, i saw the trailer last weekend, and didnt know where to look; there was stuff coming at you every second.. i dont think the one is in the way of the other btw, you can still love twilight and see it, and love harry potter and see it, and visa versa.. i doubt anyone will be choosing the one or the other… they'll just be chosing both

Everyone has really taken this out of preportion. The first Harry Potter got excellant reviews and made over 900 million dollars worldwide. The first Twilight movie got subpar reviews and made less than 400 million worldwide. It was an immense success to be sure, but no where near Harry Potter. Plus, Harry Potter has done something no other series, besides Bond and Star Wars, has done, consistently made huge money for 5 movies.

Ive read both series and seen all the films. I liked both HP and Twilight, but in all honesty, Harry Potter is superior to Twilight in every way. I hope when all of the fuss about both the series has died down, people will appreciate the quality of the literature and filmmaking more than stupid fangirly things. Harry Potter is better on both counts, although Twilight does have its charms at times.

You can't even compare these two. Stephenie Meyer wrote Twilight as a pathetic fantasy of herself and a 'hot' vampire. Bella is just a pretty and skinny version of her. It's so obvious. oh my god. i just got back from a midnight showing. i loved it. i wish they had included the fight in the end, but they did a fantastic job regardless.
and in the whole HP vs. twilight battle, i'm HP all the way. it has done amazing things for literacy in america, and there is no way that twilight will ever be able to compare. twilight really isn't well written at all. and when it comes to the movies, HP will always be better because the actors can actually act, and they have the budget to do amazing things in it, among many other reasons.
Both are great, I'll see both…twice!

The twilight film did cost alot less to make, though. I just finish the Twilight series this holiday, and Breaking Dawn was SUCH a let down! Stephen Meyer must write with a thesaurus nearby cos she uses such a simple writing style with a few words like 'masochistic' stuck in random places. Really annoyed me!
