An Emotional Madonna Breaks Down In Tears

During her concert in Udine, Italy, last night, Madonna took a moment to address the accident in Marseille on Thursday, which has so far claimed 2 lives, saying:
"Before I continue the show I want to take a moment to acknowledge and pay tribute to two people who lost their lives today. I don't know if you've heard. Two men building my show in Marseille where we're going next - the crane fell and we don't know why. (Madonna names them, Brit Charles Prow, 32, and Frenchman Charles Criscenzo, 53). I hate to be associated with suffering. I want to pay tribute to their families. Let's take a moment to appreciate our family, loved ones, friends around us."
The Queen of Pop then struggled to make it through You Must Love Me number.
She paused again before Ray of Light to say, "Let's give it up for the two Charlies."

One of those guys was an amazing friend of ours, he was only 23 and no matter what you say, Madonna making that speech kinda helped me and my friends realize that this has happened, and come to terms with it. I think that it says something that she has taken the time to remember their names. Our Charles loved his job, got to see the world and ride his bmx in his spare time ahha. We will love him forever and trust me he would find it hilarious that he death is so insane and all over the news! xx

It is very sad and tragic that these two men have died. However, it has nothing directly to do with Madonna - they worked for a contractor who is building her sets and stage for the tour. Of course she feels bad - she is a human being and this obviously affects her. That said, what is she supposed to do? Cancel the tour and disappoint everyone who bought tickets to all of the shows? She cancelled the Marseilles show out of respect, which was the right thing to do, but the tour needs to continue. As for her 'two Charlies' comment, why was that so bad? It was said after her original statement about the two men earlier in the show - she was just paying homage again. If this were a different performer, I'm sure that the comments would be much different.
