      As a recovered self-injurer (5 years, hundreds of cuts), I would say that Demi Lovato is cutting herself. At first glance, everyone thinks it's just photoshop, but the fact that Demi's rep released the bracelet statement says otherwise. If it were photoshopped, the rep would have released a statement saying just that instead of making up an excuse. It's terrible that they would lie for her and that Demi is going through this. I just sincerely hope that she does not become addicted to the pain like I and so many other people have.

I've worn bracelets before and got those same marks on my wrists, and like others have said: She probably wouldn't go out in public with all of that out in the open. She knows she's one of the only good Disney stars left, so I really doubt she'd risk it all by doing this.

      Trust me: If she was really cutting herself she wouldn't be showing it off like that in the first picture. No matter what, she would have worn something to cover it. The 2nd pic looks different, maybe those are real. But at the same time, I do think she would be smart enough to cover them up if she was indeed cutting herself. At least that's what I do and I'm not even famous.

      Not necessarily. I used to cut my arms (not much though, I cut my hips more) and I did not do it for attention. The main reason was that I was not ashamed of it. To me there was no point in hiding it… I loved my cuts, and I still love my scars. It's tough to explain. But, if she were doing it for attention, is that really THAT bad? I mean she might be lacking parental attention (estranged father) and that could cause her to act out the way she is.

      Poor Demi. I really do feel for her if she is cutting herself. But, one thing I must say is that people who cut themselves for true reasons DO NOT go out with their cuts showing. They just NEVER do that. People who cut themselves desperately hide it, they NEVER let people see the cuts or scars so they cover them. If Demi was cutting herself for actual reasons and true reasons, she would NEVER go out with them showing so clearly, ESPECIALLY when paparazzi follow her everywhere, ESPECIALLY when the girl is that famous and everybody would see the cuts. Obviously, Demi is doing this for attention. I love her and all, but like I pointed out, nobody goes out with self inflicted scars showing if they truly mean it.       I'm surprised no one else has picked up on this, but the second pic on the right was from last year sometime! When the first pic came out and they said she was cutting, the second one came out about a month later so this mag is total bull!

Do you know what experiences she has? Not a chance. There is a vast amount of things she could have been through with her life that makes her feel like she wants to cut. And for the record, a lot of people who cut don't do it as a suicide attempt; they use it as a means for externalising their feelings, and the process of cutting makes them feel better. It's not to show people, it's a way of helping them. Just because she might be wealthy, beautiful and famous does not mean she is exempt from having a past, and experiences that may have hurt her.

      If I had scars from cutting and didn't want them to be noticed I'd wear long sleeves or a chunky bracelet. Maybe her visible scars are a cry for help. You'd think her parents would be on top of that.

      I use to cut but I stopped once my mom found out. Its not a time I'm practically proud of and I never- ever talk about it. I was being stupid and (if this is true) Demi knows what she's doing and knows that its wrong. Someone needs to seriously talk to her.
