Simon Cowell Excited For Susan Boyle Album!
Extra's Terri Seymour had a sit down with ex-boyfriend Simon Cowell to discuss Susan Boyle's debut album.
So, just what did Cowell have to say about our SuBo?
Cowel claims, “She’s extraordinarily good on record…We’re not going to throw out some souvenir album of show tunes which everyone expected…We went through about 350 to 400 songs to choose from. She was blown away by some of the song choices…And she’s going to surprise a lot of people with this record…[It will be released] in the fall.”
And what about that "nervous breakdown" she had after coming in second place on Britain’s Got Talent?
When asked if she would have reacted the same way if she won, Cowell reveals “I don’t know. I think it was all boiling up. You got to understand this lady had lived alone with a cat for years and years and years and she was really, literally, the most famous person on the planet.”
We're not so sure a SuBo album is gonna do that well. Her genre of music is great for a variety show, but will she get much if any radio play????

I hope she does well. Its a shame she gets folk disliking her because of the huge amount of media attention she got. She wasn't exactly whoring herself and trying to be in the spotlight.
You only have to look at the likes of Enya to see that you don't need airplay to be one of the biggest selling artists. Okay so Enya is well established and done some amazing stuff (if you're into that) but it just goes to show…

Why is Cowell backing this woman??? There have been really good performers on Idol who he just glared at and seemed totally jealous of for whatever reason and he talked shit on them week after week…but he supports this crazy old bag! Weird..

I think she's kind of like Taylor Hicks. A fantastic voice that won't translate well onto the radio. She'd be great on Broadway or something performance wise!
Radio airplay is totally irrelevant to sells of the album. She can get no radio airplay and still sell a lot of albums.
There's a big bunch of people out here who don't buy CD's or listen to local stations because we don't like what's offered. We'll buy Susan's CD's. I've listened to folk, jazz, pop, country & opera for 60 years & she has the best voice I've ever heard. You don't like it, tough. There are enough of us who do, worldwide, to keep her singing for a long, long time. A newer picture might help those who are still hung up on looks.

You don't have to be ont he radio to sell a bunch of albums. Look at Michael Buble and Josh groban and there not the typical radio top 40 music type. There are other genre's out there that people listen to.

First of all, Perez, why don't you use a current picture of Susan? She looked elegant and stylish on the clip from the Today Show interview that is airing July22. Susan is going to sell lots of albums worldwide. You have no idea how many people are waiting for it to come out-and not are all old geezers. And I think you are going to be very suprised at the types of songs that are going to be on this album-it's not going to be all Broadway music.
Yeah, it's a shame that Susan Boyle won't sell any albums.
I mean, similar artists like Josh Groban, Andrew Bocelli, Enya, Paul Plotts, and on and on…they obviously have HUGE problems selling any sort of records. Geez, they should just give them away.
I think Susan will do well. The genre that loves Barry Manilow and Elaine Paige and Gladys Knight and the Pips etc.–they're still out there. And now with her success there's a whole bunch more of us listening in.
Album sales are some of it and there are stations that play that genre but touring is the big cash cow. I think once she gets her feet wet with the BGT touring show she'll be alright.
If she had one original song written for her rather than picking from a stock of oldies then she might get more radio play.
