Ivanka Trump has converted to Judaism for her millionaire fiance, Jared Kushner!

The NY Observer publisher informed his now-fiance that until she converted to Judaism, he would not be able to marry her.
Kushner finally popped the question to Trump last week after the spawn of Donald finished her conversion classes!
Aww.
Ivanka is truly head over heels for Kushner, and gushed over her soon-to-be husband in an interview with New York magazine.
Says Ivanka: "Jared is my best friend for many reasons. I've allowed him to see who I truly am and he still loves me. I don't feel like I have any defensive walls built up around me."

Years ago I made the assumption that Ivanka was just another vapid heiress like the Hiltons UNTIL I heard her interviewed on David Letterman. She is extremely intelligent, composed, and well-spoken. anyone who thinks marriage is based completely on love is naive. it is also based on compatibility, similar goals, and even preservation of culture. ivanka realizes that carrying on the jewish tradition is something important to jared, and her converting to judaism was her promise to help jared continue the jewish faith. i just hope her intentions are right.
is it just me or do most people who marry a jewish person usually always convert? I find it kind of annoying. How come jewish people don't convert or why don't they just decide to marry with two religious ceremonies? Xtina Aguilera did that when she got married.

I worked for a Jewish lawyer once. His son was going to marry a "gentile"-non-Jew-and she had to convert before his family would bless the union. The Jewish people have always been this way. Sex and the City episode is anothe example when Charlotte said "…I gave up Christ for you." That is overwhelming…to give up Christ for another person. A love union is all about choosing a life with someone and your convictions are what makes you, anyway.

I agree with a few of the posters on here that if he really loved her then he wouldn't make her convert to Judaism. Her conversion would be insincere anyway. But I also agree that people should think about compatibility when deciding to make a commitment to another person and that is why I would never be with somebody who isn't an atheist because I despise religion and we just wouldn't get along!

Most women end up having to convert if they want to marry a Jewish man - for example, Isla Fisher and Sasha Cohen are yet to be married, despite having a child, because she hasn't been through the conversion process - which isn't easy. You basically have to study pretty intensely and learn a whole new religion.
If I was a Jehova's Wittness, for example (which is also a minority religion), would a Jewish man covert for me? I doubt it. So why should others have to, simply because they happen to love a person of Jewish faith? My mother is a Christian and my father a Muslim - she didn't convert for him and has always maintained her Catholicism. Both respect the others' religion. To basically force someone to convert so you can marry them implies than their religion is not as important as yours, and that's just offensive. I don't care if they're a minority - they are just as capable of discrimination as any other.
