A truly gifted writer. Angela's Ashes is one of those books that manages to stay with you years after you've put it down. His talent and the story of his life and family will live on.

Very sad to hear of his passing. A very gifted writer and orator he was a great influence on many aspiring writers. Not forgetting that he suffered a traumatic childhood, he wrote about his life with real humor and poignancy
and I am very proud that he came from the same town as me.
    God Bless Yerself.

Too bad it's not Perez Hilton with R.I.P. by his name. Asshole Phag.

  7. 7

Shit, no. One of my favourite authors and a very nice man, I've met him a good few time. Damn, I'm genuinely upset.

  8. 8

Such a terrible loss. He was a truly gifted writer. The hardships he faced in childhood haunt his readers, but at the same time, he presented his story with such life and humor that, as brat93111 said, it manages to stay with you for years after you put it down. He will truly be missed. Now he joins his lost brothers, sister, and parents in Heaven. Erin Go Bragh…

Angela's Ashes was an amazing book. If you haven't read it, go get it today. When I worked in the book publishing industry, I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times. He was a funny, cheerful guy. RIP Frank.

Re: el premio – You know what, Im all for freedom of speech but for gods sake, how inconsiderate do you have to be to come up with this when a genuine talent has died. Grow up.

    RIP

  18. 18

RIP Frank McCourt. I can hear them playing Oh Danny Boy for ye! If you look down you can see the Green, green land of home. Ireland forever!!!

    I came across an online community for individual seeking interracial love. It is ^***B l a c k- W h i t e- L o v i n g - c O m***^^^^All singles there are seeking interracial relationships. Interracial is not a problem there, but a great merit to cherish!

  22. 22

Amazing author. I heard a recording of his voice talking about the events in his book. He was spellbinding.

  23. 23

RIP Frank McCourt. I must go out and buy all his books now. I am reading mostly dead authors at the moment. Frank was a lot more talented than Neil Gaiman and J.K. Rowling. I miss that man tremendously. I have the movie version of Angela's Ashes at home on DVD. The only living authors I'm reading right now are Judy Blume and Anne Rice. Judy Blume was the other woman who "raised" me. And Anne Rice is simply the best vampire novelist ever.

  29. 29

I knew Mr. McCourt personally, and I just wanted to say how great and brilliant of a mean he was and he will be missed, but never forgotten for his charming personality, his quick wit and dark yet fantastic sense of humor, and most of all for his great works of literature. Rest in peace Frank McCourt. Your impact on me was catastrophic. Thank you for having faith in me.

  30. 30

  32. 32

I have read all of his books except Teacher Man..he was such a talented author. He took what was a very tragic childhood & never forgot it, but found a way to put a positive light on it.
    He will be missed.

  33. 33

He had such a hard childhood, I hope that when he gets to heaven they give him a nice cushy cloud! God must have wanted a good man to tell him stories!! ANgela's ashes was such a wonderful book, but Tis and Teacher Man was good too!! They are all a must read!! God Bless him and his family!!

Re: el premio – You're obviously suffering from a mental disorder which makes it hard for you to read what you're responding too. Let me help you with this one. A man DIED. Fans are sharing their kind thoughts. Got it ?

  40. 40

    I am borderline devastated.

  41. 41

a news anchor just said "Angelas Asses" on WPLG Miami Channel 10 the reporter was Charles Perez. lol!!!

  42. 42

Aww, I loved Frank McCourts books especially 'Tis. He is such a good writer I was once asked "If I could meet any celeb I wanted, who would it be? I replied "Frank McCourt", he seemed to have old style wisdom…he is an inspiration to determination and resilience. I am so sad, I always wished he would write more books:( O well life goes on at least he leaves behind influence and his written words that we have access to!! RIP…

  43. 43

Frank McCourt was an amazing writer. RIP. I shouldn't say "was" because one way you live on after passing on is through your art - his art in writing will live on forever.

  44. 44

    R.I.P. Mr. McCourt!

  45. 45

How horrible, I had meningitis in 2007 and I can imagine the toll it takes on someone at that age…

  46. 46

RIP that was a beautiful book

  47. 47

I love his writing! I've never seen the films, so can't say how they turned out, but he is a talented writer. Seems like every star/celebrity I love is dying lately.. how sad..

  48. 48

RIP Frank. I met him at a publishing conference and he was such a genuinely sweet and nice man. He'll be missed.

I'm so sad to hear this news. As an Irish girl in particular his works really hit home about the hardships suffered in Ireland in his time. He was truly one of the great storytellers and his name will live on. RIP Frank x

Re: nelly belly – He DID die in a hospice. "Hospice" is a place where terminally ill people go for care before they die. It's like a hospital/nursing home….but everyone in there has only days or at most a few weeks to live.

  57. 57

omg, i loved him. his books were so good. this is awful. ya think some people will never die… :(

  58. 58

The world has lost one of its great literary lights. RIP Teacher Man.

  59. 59

R.I.P… I loved his books, read three of them and they made my cry and laugh at the same time especially 'Tis'. Wonderful author, rest in peace.
