Starbucks Selling Booze? Yes, Please!

A Starbucks in Seattle will begin serving beer and wine to their coffee-drinking customers starting next week!

We love it!!

If the Seattle boozehounds are into it, Starbucks are looking to expand the alcohol sales to other Starbucks locations in metropolitan cities across the country, with bottled beer and glasses of wine available for $4 to $7.

Bring the booze to El Lay next, bbs!!

The caffeinated giants claim the reasoning behind the alcohol sales is to give Starbucks a more authentic "European-style" coffeehouse feel, but we think $tarbucks are looking to make a quick buck!!

Hey, they gotta shake things up over there somehow! They've been closing LOTS of stores!

What do U think of having a glass of chardonnay on the side of your Caramel Macchiato???

They knew people prefered McDonald's coffee to their's, so they did something McD's couldn't do: add beer and wine!
    Hehe!

  2. 2

Ideally, they'd be adding brandy, liquers and whiskey to the coffee.

  3. 3

Next up ? POLE DANCING NIGHTLY !!

BTW — Starbuck's discriminates against gays and lesbians, PEREZ. They did it to me, in Petaluma, California, back in 1995. They claim they don't, but we all know "that phony story", don't we. Be glad you're doin' gossip stuff, and makin' money at it too, You CUBAN Q-TEA !!

  4. 4

Starbucks is good but too expensive!

  5. 5

Alcohol always sells… even in a recession.

The reason they've closed alot of stores is because they bought out many of their competitors, and then closed the stores thay didn't want.

And no… mystery person, they do not discriminate against gays and lesbians. A friend of mine, in an openly lesbian relationship worked her way up and manages a Starbucks. I've no doubt that there are some closed minds working Starbucks, but I would hardly say that as a organization they are discriminatory.

  6. 6

They used to have a Starbucks cafe in Seattle that served alcohol. Nothing like a latte with a shot of Kahlua or Godiva!!

    Re: Mystery PersonRe: Mystery Person

There's an openly gay male working in the starbucks I regularly go to, and two at the next closest one to me. So, frankly, I don't believe you.

Re: Sensitivity – Agree with you. $$$. That's why I've got my own little espresso/cappuccino machine, it makes a perfect espresso for FREE!!

  9. 9

Mmmm, an Irish coffee on the way to work. And it will only set me back $15…plus my job. Thank you StarBUCKS.

Re: love me tender – I like free!

  11. 11

We aren't boozehounds in Seattle, thanks. And they won't be called "Starbucks." Starbucks will own them but they will be cafes that will be named after the neighborhoods that they are built in (i.e. "5th Ave Cafe.")

And Starbucks does NOT discriminate against homosexuals. What a STUPID comment. We have one of the biggest gay/lesbian populations in the world here in Seattle where Starbucks was founded and is still based. The company has a ton of gay people working both at corporate and at the stores. You probably lost you job based on your crappy job performance. Quit playing the sexuality card. I HATE that…

  12. 12

    OMG I LOVE IT!

  13. 13

wow perez - you condemn those who smoke, yet you are advocating increased availability of another drug. bravo.

  14. 14

Fuck! I had hoped the economy would shut down this glorified status of buying a $5.00 cup of coffee. People are lemmings! Stand in line for 15 minutes to get a frappa, mocha, chochka, latta, skinny, slimy, foamy, frothy, too sweet 8oz cup of pure bullshit, thinking you are actually doing something fashionable or fun. Look at the picture of bare-foot Brittany Spears coming out of a public gas station toilet with Starbucks in her hand. Maybe she was just pissing in the cup for a urine test. FUCK STARFUCKS!

  15. 15

If Starfucks wanted to do ANYTHING positive, they would lobby to change the laws and start a 'smoking cafe' were we good, American, taxpaying adults could get our reefer on. Just say NO to Nancy!

  16. 16

Great, just what I want, drunk loud mouth girls and their equally annoying drunk loud mouth boi-friends @ my local Starbucks…

  17. 17

Finally! Now I'll actually go to a Starbucks…

  18. 18

Starbucks can't be going out of business, all the celebs buy frappacinos & what not on a daily basis..

  19. 19

a lot of people work at starbucks that's under 21. and dont u have to be 21 to serve?

  20. 20

    DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.
    .
    Other than that, have fun!

  21. 21

that would make me move to seattle. damn. irish coffees all the time…in product red cups. lol

    22

  23. joeyc says – reply to this

    23

    What's new condoms??

  24. 24

Starbucks already has items available in liquor stores such as irish creme liqueur and mocha latte liqueur, etc. Why not have the drinks served in their cafes? Makes good business sense to me!

  25. 25

    LOVE IT! LOVE WINE!!

  26. 26

Hey I bet the people will drink to that!

  27. 27

LOL! The regular folks have Chuck E. Cheese as a "fight club", now the yuppies/hipsters will have Starbucks! I can't wait ’till the first post: "Two men charged with assault after one slams a laptop over the other's head, and the other attempts to smother him with a yoga mat, over a debate about global warming."

  28. 28

Perez, which one?! I live in Seattle and I'll check it out and report back to you with my findings :)

  29. 29

WAY TO GO PEREZ! You don't post ALL the info pertaining to Starbucks new venture. Starbucks is opening up a different store called 15th Ave Coffee and Tea. This is a SEPERATE store. So before you all start making uneducated comments, get your facts straight.

Re: Hayleymoo – it depends on the state. Some states yes you have to be legal to serve, some you do not…

  31. 31

A rare species of bird was interviewed today and stated that "he was glad that Starbucks will add some booze to their menu." He said that "he and his friends will be frequenting the place as soon as the "hot" merchandise are in place and will be available to the public birds like him."

  32. 32

OMG did you that bird?? its so cute!

  33. 33

pfft…i would love a shot of baileys in my latte..

  34. 34

I have actually written to Starbucks telling them to sell booze! it has a huge profit margin. I for one will be happy to booze it up at Starbucks, especially when travelling for business - it just seem more socially acceptable to be a woman alone, drinking at a coffee shop. I would never go to a bar alone.

  35. 35

Starbucks drinks are NASTY and are NEVER made well. CORPORATE BULLSHIT, I'm sure the drink drinks are nasty as the the coffee NO THANKS.

  36. 36

either this could be a good thing or "hello drunk idiots thanks for throwing up all over my arm chair while i was drinking a latte"

  37. 37

    Bad combo!

  38. 38

Re: veggie – I thought it was European Coffee, Right?

  39. 39

Re: Penny Royal – lol, true!

  40. 40

oh goodie. i can get drunk on the way to work and finally deal with all the drama. phew.

  41. 41

Your article doesn't point out that Starbucks -WILL NOT- be calling these establishments Starbucks. They'll have different non-descript names, in effort to trick people who are critical of the company into purchasing their products.

  42. 42

    BAILEY'S AND COFFEE.. YUM!!!!

  43. 43

    stupid economy.
the drinks are already expensive as it is.
    they also sell smoothies now.
but when i went, they ran out of bananas.
    too desperate.

  44. 44

    YAY for Sbux boooze!!
They should also sell their Sbux liquier and toss it into a latte or macchiato at the customers request!

  45. 45

Re: Mystery Person – Starbucks is totally gay friendly you idiot… 99.99% of the people who work at Sbux are openly gay.. I am and it was NEVER a problem for me. Woot Woot

  46. 46

this is just like williams coffee pub here in canada. A similaR coffee shop but they have been selling beer and wine for a couple years now this is nothing new perez

  47. 47

Psh. No matter what city you are in, booze sells. And that's that.
I'm curious tho. I only live 30 minutes away, I'll check for the booze next time I go.

  48. 48

Fun, classy, smart— i like it

  49. 49
