Pittsburgh QB Accuser Tried To Report Assault
She tried to report it, but apparently was humiliated more for it.
That sucks!
Andrea McNulty, the woman accusing Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault, claims that she tried to file a report with the head of security, Guy Hyder , at the Harrah's hotel, but he simply ignored her. In fact, according to her claim, when she told Hyder, he insisted that she was "over-reacting" and that "most girls would feel lucky to have sex with someone like Ben Roethlisberger."
Ugh! That is the reason so much of this stuff goes unheard of.
He also advised her to keep her mouth shut as her job was dependent on it, considering that the president of the hotel, John Koster, is a big Steelers fan. In her claim, she says Hyder told her that their boss would be impressed if she had slept with the QB: "Koster would love you even more if he knew about this … Koster would suck his dick if Roethlisberger let him."
In the lawsuit, the young woman claims she hoped the incident would have been investigated by hotel security, but Hyder "did not do his job of investigating the assault." Andrea McNulty also claims she was "afraid of the consequences of going to police authorities since it was obvious to her that Harrah's and it's personnel … would side with and support Roethlisberger."
Wonderful world we live in, huh? But, then again, it's all hearsay for now. She still could be making up this elaborate story just for a few bucks.

For those who ask why she didn't run screaming to everyone as soon as she got free, remember she talked to her co-worker, who blew smoke up her ass and stalled her even more. She must have been saying to herself all those things people are saying now: why did you trust him and go into that room alone, you won't be beleived, you'll be fired and called a crazy slut, etc. etc. And, she was right.
Yes, there are false accusers, and she may be one, but what if she's not, and everyone is treating her like the criminal? I guess some don't see anything wrong with that, because the man in this case is rich and successful and she isn't

Re: imsoregistered – I'm sorry that my typed words didn't quite convey what I was trying to get across. I did say alleged in regards to his sexuality and I did admit I know nothing about this man as I do not follow football. I'm certainly not a jealous person and I am making no judgments in this case, nothing can be proven as true or false until the facts are presented. I do tend to lean towards the woman being a little off, but I also find myself believing that both parties may be responsible for what went on in that hotel room and it does sound like she is 'crying wolf' but that's not for me to decide, and when or if it goes to trial, we will get a clear answer. If there is an undisclosed settlement, then the speculation of what happened will always be there and the truth will never be known. Again I am sorry that my words may have been misinterpreted but I am in no way making any judgement on this man, and I am certainly not jealous. Let be friends, ok? I really am a nice person, but you understand how words can be misinterpreted on the 'net, compared to words spoken face to face?

What "mental problem" was she being seen for? Please enlighten me. You can be seen for therapy and not have a formal diagnosis. Also, you can have a diagnosis and be found mentally competent. There is much more to be considered to find a person mentally incompetent. For example, the persons capacity to do daily self-care activities.
If what you are saying is correct then anyone with a diagnosis is considered incompetent and do not have rights regarding the confidentiality to their treatment. It takes far more than just a diagnosis to consider a person incompetent.
You really need to do your homework before you spout off crap.

Re: LexiSmexi – If this is directed @ me, I wasn't trying to 'make up' for anything. I was trying to make what I typed more clear for a posted who was possibly misinterpreting my message. I do not apologize for my follow up post, it was simply to respond to the misinterpretation. And in my original post I tried to not speak of the man or woman involved, but since the reply included things specific to the case, I felt it neccessary to give my opinion, and that's all it is, my opinion, on how I feel about the parties involved. If your comment wasn't directed towards me, then please disregard this!
When Ben was at Miami (of Ohio) University, my Dad who is employed there; got to know Ben quite well. In '05, due to Hurricane Katrina I had to relocate to the area for a few months. In that time I became night auditor at the most upscale hotel in the college town. Ben came in often to visit with friends. He always had security, and was always well behaved and supremely nice to hotel staff. He had a revolving door of women coming and going at appropriate intervals so they could believe they were 'the only one he was seeing'. I am a activist for Sexual Assault Victim's rights, and truly believe this is a sham.
It is women who pull 'stunts' for money, etc. as this girl seems to be doing that makes it nearly IMPOSSIBLE for legitimate Victims of Sexual Assault to be taken seriously, believed or respected by law enforcement.
If indeed she is lying, as I think she is, she is harming THOUSANDS of legitimate victims!!
LADIES!! You can't make your rent money off false allegations, 'mistakenly' get pregnant to keep a man, or any of the similar oldest cons in the world and expect anyone to believe you later if you have a LEGITIMATE assault.

If you have TRULY been sexually assaulted, you don't worry about losing your crazy harrah's job, you go straight to authorities. He probably didn't return her call after she 'put out' and her friends talked her into this little stunt. It should be thrown out and money and courts time shouldn't be wasted on this!

I'm not a supporter of those that scream rape when it wasn't. If she's lying, it'll come out. The story is a bit fishy but IF this really happened, she may have PTSD which makes for irrational behavior. Not making excuses for her but anything is possible by anyone. Sadly.

if you want to know why women dont report right away, just read these comments, it should be self-explanatory!! Having been on the side of most everyone commenting for most my life, I knew exactly what people would say/think of me and thats a big reason i did not report my assault immediately. i thought i would take it to my grave but eventually broke down from the stress. only those two will ever know the truth and only one will tell it, but all the hurtful comments, and blaming HER are in no way helpful to actual victims. it's not an easy situation to be in and face these remarks vs saying nothing and having to live with yourself knowing that he could hurt someone else. but, since its public now, i don't see how filing a civil suit would be any easier for her than reporting it to the police. her reasoning is odd. but im sure many would say mine was, so ill refrain from judgment.
I personally know Andrea McNulty. We went to undergrad together in New Brunswick, Canada where her and I are both from. I have been in touch with her via email a few months ago. I also have moved to the United States like her. I can tell you that she is not someone who would make something like this up. Like me she is not promiscuous and would be devastated by such an event. Being Canadian and working in the US you need work visas. I am sure she was scared that she would lose her job and have to go back to Canada if her work is not on her side. I think she must be on a visa because I do not think she is a perm resident or citizen of the US yet. For her residency and a job she loves may also felt to have been at stake. For me getting a visa is easier than in her case I believe because I am a healthcare professional. I hope everything turns out ok for her.

I do not know and can not know if this woman is telling the truth about what really went on until real facts are presented…however, I feel that this situations shows the ugly truth about society. We are so quick to critisize those who come foward especially when the accused is famous. It is truly a shame that peoeple who have indulged themselves in information that could be misconstrued could so defend a man that they know nothing about and defending him in this manner only helps to prevent those from coming foward in the future.

I've read through the comments here and feel sick. As somebody who works with sexual assault survivors, I see daily the utter devastation that being assaulted brings to the life of survivors. To every single aspect of their lives.
To those of you who do not believe her because she did not report to the police and claim that "real survivors would report." This is far from the truth. Only about 40% of assaults are ever reported to authorities. There are many many reasons why survivors don't immediately report. I think the 1st of these is made glaringly obvious first by Perez's comments and then by everyone here. Survivors worry about reporting and not being believed. One can only imagine the fear in reporting when the perpetrator is a celebrity. Unfortunately most people also do not realize that they can be seen in a hospital ER and get a rape kit done without reporting to the police and therefore often miss out on important services such as evidence collection, pregnancy prevention and STD prophylactics.

It is very plausible that she would report this to the hotel security and not to the police. A person should never be judged for who they choose to disclose to and when. That is a very personal decision and should be made when the survivor feels most comfortable. Imagine describing your worst sexual experience to complete strangers? Not something you would be eager to do? If this security was someone that she felt comfortable with and felt that she could trust it would make sense for her to disclose to this person. Based on his reaction I certainly cannot blame her for for not disclosing to anyone else for a very long time.
Whether or not this man could have "any woman in the world" or could "pay anyone for sex" has absolutely zero to do with this. Rape is NOT about sex. It is about POWER and CONTROL. It is about taking away a woman's right to choose what she wants to do with her own body. Perpetrators target women/men who seem vulnerable, not who look or dress a certain way. This is an act of violence where sex is used as a weapon.
Sexual assault will cost survivors a lot of money. From medical bills, therapy bills, wages lost in not being able to return to work, etc. If she is suing for money, good for her.
It's true, this woman could be lying. But you can't argue with facts. The fact is that only 2% of reported rapes are false reports. The fact is that 1 in 6 women will be the victims of attempted or completed assault at some point in their lifetime. The fact is that for every 100 rapes, only 6 rapists will ever spend any time in jail. Society needs to change. As is very clearly shown by the comments on this story.

At least in the state of Massachusetts where I work, counselors are not mandated to report sexual assaults unless they the victim is a minor, disabled, or over the age of 65 and the perpetrator was a caretaker of the victim. The laws are very specific. We are not mandated to report any other cases. The rules in my office are very, very specific to ensure nobody in our crisis center would ever be in a situation where they needed to testify in court and we are rarely even allowed to talk to the police about a client.
Consequences for waiting a year = NO EVIDENCE. She made the decision not to pursue the issue a year ago~she could have gone straight to a hospital and had the necessary tests done but she didn't. She should honestly just keep moving forward, as nothing good will come out of this now for her.
