The Notebook Returns - As A Musical!

| Filed under: Broadway BabiesFilm Flickers

notebookmuzak.jpg

This could either be really bad or really spectacular. Judging by the people behind the project, we don't see any Tony's in it's future, though!

The sappy lovefest known as The Notebook is being turned into a musical by the genius minds of Bethany Joy Galeotti, who plays Haley on One Tree Hill, and Ron Aniello, who's a mediocre record producer. What either of them know about creating a Broadway show could probably fill a thimble, but, hey - got to do what you got to do.

The project is still in the early stages of development as a workshop based in Wilmington, North Carolina. In fact, if you live in the area and are interested in flaunting your theatrical chops, they are holding auditions in the first two weekends of August.

Be forewarned aspiring Broadway babes- there is no pay, and this is most likely a ploy to get investors to move production to New York. However, everybody needs a start so CLICK HERE for their website and more details.

Would U see a musical based on The Notebook?

Wold u see THIS ONE?

  2. 2

    GREAT IDEA!!!

  3. 3

What could possibly be considered musical about this movie/play? One can't cash in on everything that made money!

  4. 4

Ohhhh nooooo way! I loved the book and the movie, but I don't think I'll be rushing to see the musical. No way, nu uh. Not me!

  5. 5

ooh don't hate!! Joy is AMAZING! Seriously.. listen to some of her music she really is talented. I'm sure it will be a lovely production!

Ok this really pissed me off… Have you ever listened to any of Bethany Joy's music… I didnt think so. She is AWESOME and writes all of her own music and she is totally invested in having this musical on Broadway. She has done tons of theater and musicals and knows what she is doing. Maybe you should listen to her before you make up your mind

I don't a think so. The Notebook is an amazingly cute and romantic movie, but why do they have to make a fucking musical out of everything??

  13. 13

Fuck you Perez. If you'd bothered to READ the biographies on the website you would've seen that Joy has TONS of Broadway training with some of the best in the business.

    Do your research you fucktard.

  14. 14

My favorite movie. You can tell from my avatar. if they came to Omaha, I would totally go! But I am not sure I would like other characters. There can never ben anyone better than these two.

  15. 15

Perez…once again you are an idiot: MOST workshops are not equity based are NOT PAYED…..get your facts straight for once!

  16. 16

it can never hold the same affect as the original…and cant come even close without rachel and ryan…oh my, just the thought of ryan this early in the morning….hehehehe, its too early for those thoughts…..lmao

  17. 17

I love the movie, but don't know if the musical would be a succes ;)

  19. 19

    Re: michx0x – exactly!! i agree.

  20. 20

i would LOVE to see a musical of "the notebook"…but not by these two.

  21. 21

Re: hjyayaya – thank you! stupid bloggers should do their research before they assume something won't be good. Joy has been working on this for years apparently and its something she is very invested in. Go to youtube and look up her videos then make up your mind.

  22. 22

OMIGOD JOY!!! I'm going to sound like a major fan girl right now but whatever, I LOVE her she is an insanely talented musician with a huge musical background! I would definetely go and see it but I'm all the way in Canada.
    P.S.
It annoys the hell out of me that you have to immediatley put the idea of this down when you haven't even done any fucking research on the two. I hope this turns out to be a big success and you eat your words.

Bethany is awsome so im sure she will do great on the singing/acting front….but i guess it all depends on the writing. :-/ I'm somewhat curious so id watch.

  24. 24

hey dip-shit….lenz comes from musical theatre! i figured as much and all it took to confirm was a quick look on imdb. regardless if you or your ugly sisters posts the shit, the least you can do is a fucking fact check. side note, i bet galeotti and aniello know more about creating a broadway show than you do about running a record lable, even if they weren't pros, they could just say, well "we like broadway so much, that means we are qualified to make a musical"

damn you and your fat sister sure are dumb.

  25. 25

Re: Laury – and i bet millions of people said the same thing when the book was turned into a movie…..musicals are for smart people. it's ok that people like you don't want it made. you've probably never even seen a musical.

  26. 26

Judging by the people behind the project? You know that Joy did theater productions BEFORE One Tree Hill, right? You know Joy lived in New York for years and was around the Broadway atmosphere, right? You know that Joy was offered to play the role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, right? If anything, judging by Joy behind it alone it's looking good. You gotta do you research before you say stuff dude.

  27. 27

fat sister trolling the site today eh? bwahahaha

  28. 28

Joy is amazing she's a great writer fuck you I hope this is amazing and that bitch slaps you

  29. 29

I WILL DEFINITELY CATCH THIS MUSICAL. I'll FLY out there if I have TO.

JOY is SO talented! It's unbelievable. She is the RIGHT person to do this musical and I have no doubt that this musical is going to be a sure HIT. She had so much training with many of the big names in the broadway. She has musical theatre training before she was cast to play in OTH & she was offered the role of 'Belle' in "Beauty in the Beast" on broadway but had to turn it down due to conflict of schedule. She writes & produce her own music. She was signed to Epic records but after finding out that they want to package her like all the mainstream pop stars she want OUT. She didn't want to become a sell OUT.

She's full of passion, life and love. So down to earth so sweet so funny. She's perfect girl.

    LOVE YOU JOY.

  30. 30

I don`t know if this is good. How can they make a musical out of this? But then again I said the same thing about Legally Blonde and now I love that musical!! Maybe they might do the same thing with The Notebook…but I still see it kinda hard

  31. 31

You cannot replace an original! Let it be. Love them.

  32. 32

I wouldn't really want to see The Notebook in Broadway, but I'm a fan of Bethany's so I might go see it. It's only a few hours from here. She said in an interview a few years ago that she never wanted to be on TV, she always wanted to be on Broadway, so I'm totally game for supporting her.

  33. 33

That's awesome. BJG is fantastic and will likely do a great job.

  34. 34

    haley sucks on oth

  35. 35

    but joy is talened musically.

  36. 36

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

  37. 37

    ryan goseling is hot

  38. 38

Bethany Joy Galeotti is genius so you better recognize Perez Hilton.

And if Joy wins a Tony for this, I hope she can laugh at your dumbass for posting garbage.

  39. 39

    HELL YEAH i am!!
    i love BJ =]

  40. 40

Your turning it down before you even see it! Bethany joy is an amazing artist. She has an amazing voice and she is very talented actress and she has done some broadway. Maybe you should do your research before you all post crap. She is one of the most under apreciated actresses out there

  41. 41

bethany is actually a very talented woman…i hope this does super well and you're kissing her ass in a post later

  42. 42

no …just no. i love musicals.. i think this one would be stupid. love this movie. why ruin it

  43. 43

    ooohh nooo

    whyy??

in musical no please dont do that shit
the notebook its a great movie
    totally beauty
    but in a musical

& of course the original NEVER cant be replaced

    aaa fuck that people

    waaa
    im so fucking

    PISSED OFF !!!!! :@

  44. 44

People don't be so narrow minded and don't listen to some shit for brains critic with absolutely no music or theatre background. As far as producers go…Bethany is very talented actress and musician and has plenty of theatre experience. And Aniello is a wonderful music producer who was responsible for the hit songs of Lifehouse, Bare Naked Ladies, etc etc. This could be a giant hit on broadway, with a possibility of multiple Tony nominations!!

  45. 45

i think its a great idea…you know it can be something different…and probably something to discover…i would go see the play….ive been a fan of bethany joy galeotti since i saw her on OTH and i really love her work so ya ill go see the play
