Live & In Concert: Star Wars?

| Filed under: Music MinuteFilm Flickers

Boy, you geeks will take any excuse to dress up and talk in fake alien languages, huh?

Starting in October, look for Star Wars: The Concert to hit a VFW Hall an arena near you. This concert version of the beloved sci-fi series will feature a live symphony orchestra, huge screens, film clips and a traveling exhibit.

The music featured will compile the work of John Williams from all six movies and Anthony Daniels, the actor who portrayed robot C-3PO in the movies, will narrate the event live. The 40 date tour starts in Anaheim October 1st and tickets go on sale August 1st.

This sounds…lame.

What do U think?

They had concerts with the Lord of the Rings. I'd be surprised if there haven't been concerts of SW music before now. I mean, the first movie came out 32 years ago.

  4. 4

    Love it. I'll go.

Lame…no. The music from the movies is great. I probably won't go but it sounds like it might be a great experience.

Now you're really showing what kind of an ignorant dolt you really are.

John Williams' work in these films is considered some of the greatest music composed in the 20th century.

And them being performed live is nothing new. These works have been played worldwide since they were first heard 33 years ago.

John Williams himself performs selections from this score annually at the world famous Boston Pops festival. But I doubt you've heard of that; something actually containing some culture.

    Show some respect.

fuck, is there anything you aren't bitter and bitchy about anymore? to think that a few short months ago I created a login to come on here and defend you against a bunch of people I thought were overly critical. I still enjoy a few stories here now and then, but you have gone from bitingly honest to a bitter queen who looks for any reason to insult people whether it is deserved or not. bring back the old Perez, where it was ok to be nice once in a while while still calling out people who DESERVED it.

Star Wars is so passee now………………..no thanks. Especially NOT at those prices ! YIKES !

  11. 11

    I think it sounds great.

  12. 12

Re: Mystery Person – So you'd go if it wasn't "passe?"

    What a tool.

  13. 13

Sounds awesome!! Some of the best movie music ever. Any music lover should appreciate that…. and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Star Wars nerd. I saw a preview of it today at Comic Con and it looks amazing.

  14. 14

You do realize that John Williams is one of the most famous composers in the world, and will draw huge crowds? Or do you just think because he composed the music for star wars, that's all he did.

He is amazing, and I would love a chance to see him conduct live.

Then again, with your taste in music, I'm not surprised you are poo pooing this you fat idiot!

  15. 15

why is going to see an orchestra lame? im sure somebody so infatuated with pop culture really couldn't care less about REAL culture.

  16. 16

Sorry Perez, but you very much lose this one. Do you have zero appreciation for film scores? God, even John Williams? I'm not the biggest Williams fan, and I have my reasons, but I would LOVE to go to this! His score music for Star Wars, at least the original three, is absolutely brilliant and would sound amazing live. And the people going to this event wouldn't dress up in costume - that's not appropriate for this kind of event, and geeks are smart enough to know that. Duh.

  17. 17

Oh Lord, get OVER it already. They're just movies!

  18. 18

I think it's fantastic, even though I'm not a big fan of Star Wars or John Williams. It will get people to see a symphony orchestra and maybe turn them on eventually to other orchestral and classical music. It will put musicians to work, and it's hard to find jobs for them sometimes. It will make more work for ticket takers, ushers, vendors, etc. everywhere it plays. Work is good, helping the economy is good.

kinda like certain people who will take any excuse to post about Lady Blah Blah.

"Oh look what Lady Blah Blah wore taking a shit today- Faboosh."

    Fuck you- fatass!

  20. 20

    Sounds very cool actually………..

  21. 21

"Boy, you geeks will take any excuse to dress up and talk in fake alien languages, huh?" Why does this sound precisely like your entire life Spongeboobs Media Pants?

  22. 22

Yes, quite lame to say the least. But something tells me I'll be there regardless. Fingers crossed - my seven year old will NOT find out about it!

  23. 23

Sounds like an an amazing way to introduce my kids to the symphony. We'll be there!

  24. 24

Crap Rebecca… now I feel like a bad Mom. You make a point… and a good one. I must resend my previous statement. (just hope it's not too lame-o)

  25. 25

eat pig shit you cum fart. i swear to god all you do is talk so much shit about "nerds" and "geeks" because you think your so fucking above them. I hope someone dressed as a Wookie shits in your mouth

  26. 26

I'd rather have my eyes gouged out than have to sit through a Star Wars movie. ughhhh…

  27. 27

Fake alien language… like falsetto english? You dress up in costumes and talk in a special way. But others do it and you call it lame? Oh, and remember when you committed the ultimate offense and used a gay hate slur to bait someone into hitting you? You're still a disgrace, still clueless, and go on proving it. Daily. I haven't been to a sci-fi convention since I was a kid, but I find it offensive when a gay man insults geeks. Didn't you both get harassed in school? Unless you only turned gay for media attention, of course.

  28. 28

I saw this in England. It was amazing.

This is much more reals that all this fake celebrity 'gossip' wearing orange tan and falling out of nightclubs.

This is 60 training musicians, 100 singers and many talenets road crew, designers etc

    1 composer, 1 director…

Make what you will of the story, this is moving music that makes grown people feel happy and sad.

America you are in for a treat.

  29. 29

Re: _kimmy_ – No it wasnt lame. Neither is the the 'Star Wars' films back to back. It is pieces of music, with a film screen behind. Anthony D introduces the charactors/themes in a very easy way to understand before the orchestra plays a piee of music accompanies by bits of film/footage form all the 6 films in the back.

Everyone that was there, star wars fan or just a music fan LOVED IT.

  30. 30

    AWESOME!!! I will be there

  31. 31

Regardless of how much George Lucas screwed the pooch with the film franchise, the soundtracks hold up as some of the best symphonic music composed for the movies. What a great way to introduce new audiences to the orchestra. I just hope parents teach their kids proper etiquette for live performance beforehand.

  32. 32

I would still like Carrie Fisher to sit on my face.

  33. 33

This is going to make more money in a night than you will ever in your lifetime.

Can't wait until you get rejected by Robert Pattinson and another gay group… Keep up the good work.

  34. 34

I think this is brilliant. Holding a concert series of some of the BEST KNOWN MUSIC FROM AROUND THE WORLD (orchestral of course) is awesome. It is kind of geeky that the C3PO guy will be narrating it, but John Williams is the most inspiring composer of the last century. I will definitely be going…John Williams' music is the reason I became a musician.
