This is the first time ever his approval rating is at less than 50%!

      And… the last price I saw on Obama's stumuls plan was $800 Billion and his Budget was $3.53 Trillion. He's still wanting to spend money on cap and trade. Did you know if you want to sell your house a team of federal inspectors will descend upon you and tell you what changes you HAVE to make before you can sell it? Period? That's in Cap and Trade. And then of course come to the healthcare disaster. The original Medicare plan (do you know who passed that one?) was to be approximately $9 billion in expense in 25 years. I call them regularly including yesterday when I had to laugh about the presidents' mischaracterization of the college graduate having insurance problems. I just found it too funny to pass up. The story he trumped up wasn't funny…. the fact that it was impossible to have happened as he told was funny. The HIPPA law was not deisgned to annoy us at the doctor's office with umpteen forms. It was to guarantee portability of health care coverage when you leave one job & plan to go to another job & plan. If not, then try reading a few of the factual posts we have going so that you can make an informed decision. I hate the idea of voting for a republican in theory — but to be honest I'd prefer to vote for the best PERSON regardless of color, party affiliation, etc. If it happens to be a republican who espouses liberal lifestyles, then I'm all for that over a democrat who is forcing me to drive a light colored car, install a 3 minute shower head timer, give my grandma with cancer morphine to kill her rather than radiation and chemo. I believe in gun control, marriage equality,the right to choose (but do not support abortion), am against capital punishment and I believe in social duty. More people should be volunteers. Helping your neighbor and those less fortunate is big with me. In my little world, the same people always step up to help. And they are from both sides of the political spectrum. Unfortunately, most people are willing to sit back and not do ANYTHING except pick apart the faults of those who are trying to help. It really gets under my skin!

      I read LA Times, NY Times, Washington Post and sometimes Wall Street Journal, mags are mainly girl stuff like Women's Health, Fitness and Prevention, watch ABC, CBS, NBC ,CNN (Fox for a laugh rarely) Daily Show and Colbert, listen to NPR, Rachel Maddow, and blog here for fun. I do go to Huff and Wonkette as well. Oh, and I love the Dodgers.

      I too do lots of volunteer work. Just today started a project to help a half-way house for men in recovery develop a 3 year plan to merge with a women's shelter (separate sites, same administration to reduce duplication of efforts).

      As for Hillary and her hub, they got into some nasty situations wherein several people I know were terrible adversely affected. BUT I liked them as regular people.       i think it's funny that people talk about the last "eight years". people should do more research instead of repeating the things you hear on the biased media. this recession was 30 years in the making. bush definitely did a crap job during his last few years, but a major contributor to the economy started with jimmy carter and then clinton with the fair housing act. when people don't pay their mortgages (credit cards, loans, etc.) the amount of money going back into the economy, market etc. is effected. if that goes down, everything does. people that don't make that much money should never have been approved for $400k mortgages. but the banks had to be "fair" to everyone. and, of course, now it's the governments fault and they should bail all of these people out. we have made people in this country the laziest they can be - how can you reward people for not working and penalize those who do work hard and expect people to want to keep working. it should be the other way around. those who work hard, pay taxes, stimulate the economy with their earnings that should be given breaks. not those who sit on the asses and just want, want, want. Don't get me wrong some people need help and i am all for that - but not for giving to people who just don't want to help themselves. so until this changes, it doesn't matter who is in office.

      I am pretty sure I did not say "the poor" anywhere in my comment. What I was saying is until we stop rewarding people for doing nothing our country is not going anywhere. There are so many people in this country that could contribute to society and help "stimulate' the economy but they don't because the can just sit back and receive "help". There is nothing wrong with helping those in need - but need is the key word. As for the illegals in this country - they have never paid one penny into the system get better healthcare than I do and I pay for mine! Anyone who wants to come to this country in search of a better life I am all for. BUT, get registered, get a social security number, pay taxes, and you can not collect off something you never paid into. Doesn’t it bother you that we are going to continue to pay into social security that won't be there when we are old enough to retire?       Obama became so popular for three reasons. Number one, bush did suck the last few years. if he was not so unpopular, who knows what the outcome of the election would have been. Number two, the media. If you try to dispute that, you obviously have turned on a television in the last 18 months. And three, sorry to say, was because of his skin color. I am all for a black president or a woman president IF they are elected because of their stand on the topics, politics, and experience, not because of their color. Before the election some people had no clue who his running partner was or where he stood on the major issues - only knew that they were voting for the "black guy".
