As we expected, Katie Holmes is having her toe-tapping ass handed back to her in the aftermath of her redunkoulously bad performance on So You Think Can Dance.
Just because you think you can does not mean you should!
Fans all over the Web are throwing down a lot of trash talk towards Mrs. Tom Cruise and even the celebs are getting in on the hate. Shanna Moakler wrote on her Twitter: "I am fuckin INSULTED, Katie Holmes how dare you! I didn't just grow up on musicals, I lived and breathed them, Oklahoma, Easter Parade, Family Band, don't touch my legends! ur not worthy."
Ouch. True, but still ouch.
Katie does have some friends in her corner who are defending her act. Of course, they all happen to be apart of the same cause Holmes claimed to be dancing for. Like Carrie Ann Inaba, who has co-founded the Dizzy Feet Foundation with Katie said in an interview: "She went out there on a show that features some of the most incredible dancers we have in America, and she went out there to show her support for Dizzy Feet Foundation and her love of dancing. And I think that's completely courageous."
You should also say that to every freak and fool who parades on the stage in front of the judges during the initial auditions. We guarantee, if she was a nobody, you'd be singing a very different little tune.

It WAS horrible!! All she did was shake her hips and randomly kick around. It was Awful!! Especially since I love Summer Stock (the movie Judy Garland performs the song Katie danced to), I found it especially atrocious!!

After reading your description I was expecting a Britney Spears circa. MTV awards performance….but it really wasn't that bad. Her singing was nice, too. I don't get all the bashing.

It's not even about how bad her performance was. It's that everyone was promoting it as Katie Holmes live on SYTYCD dancing AND singing. But then she didn't even sing OR dance! She lip-synced (badly) and walked around. She looked pretty… at least she had that going for her!

There is something seriously wrong with you Perez. She sang BEAUTIFULLY. I had no idea she had such a lovely singing voice. The dance wasn't very challenging, but she looked great. I believe it was for a charity that she works for. I would love to hear her sing again. Why do you hate some people so much? Once you are on the channel and they get their numbers they don't care if you liked what you saw. You watched!! The only reason they want you to watch is so you see the commercials. Katie ALLEGEDLY made the appearance as a charity promotion. However, the way her performance was over-hyped for weeks in advance, this seems more like a vanity piece.
Since she can't go on TV and say "Look at me! Look at me!", the idea of her doing a charity performance is used. It is mentioned REPEATEDLY that she is donating her fee to Dizzy Feet. It is mentioned way more times than would be necessary if she was truly doing something altruistic.
People who do things for charity don't need to make such a fuss about themselves. She was clearly promoting HERSELF and pretending it was for charity.

Sure it wasn't the greatest or amazing thing ever but why be so hard on her? She's really new at dancing and with time and more practice she'll be amazing. Those dancers that are in the top 20 had some sort of background before hand so yeah. I think she did good for someone who's just starting out.

She isn't Judy Garland, she isn't even a professional dancer/singer…but I think it was a respectable performance. If you're going to criticize it, at least provide some valuable criticism.
