shit that really was offensive, one of the most upsetting/disturbing things i think ive ever read. looks like the social services in america are letting kids down as well

Re: A Noun – I'm sure it was all triggered by postpartum depression but what she did was probably evolved into postpartum psychosis; there is a difference.

  3. 203

omg. im just well speechless. that poor poor baby. i hope that woman gets what she deserves and never sees the outside world again. and can never never have children again. odds are she will plead temp insanity. duh. like u can be in your right mind to do some crap like that. God bless that little baby who is in heaven n ow with Jesus. where he will never be harmed again.

  4. 204

holy shit. wow. thats sooo horrible.

  5. 205

People with mental issues should not be allowed to breed!!!!

Re: insight – I do agree with you in the fact that this woman is seriously ill and that people shouldn't be wishing her to "rot in jail" or to "fry". Also, I do think that having a brother with a mental illness has really made you take this to heart (as I'm sure many people would), and let me tell you that many people wouldn't judge your brother the same way they are judging this woman — it's not the illness itself that they are judging, it is the terrible act that has been committed. I hope that everyone would know it's not a choice.
However, I would like to know your personal opinion on what should happen with this woman, after she is treated, of course. Now that this story has been spread by the American media and instilled fear and hatred into the many, many Americans who cannot think for themselves, this woman cannot walk free. Even if mental illness does prove her innocence, even if she can be cured of her illness, people will refuse to sympathize with her, as we've seen. If she were to be released I wouldn't doubt that one of these mob members would think nothing of taking justice into their own hands.
So, in your opinion, what should happen to her?

Re: Soul Ese – I agree with you. I live in SC and remember that crazy Susan Smith lady who put her kids in a car and drove it into a lake and drowned them? She was not mentally ill, she was only anxious to make her man happy because he was anti-children. She blamed it on a "black man" that didn't exist and because of the southern bigotry the whole state was looking for this non-existent black man. Amanda, that is the most awful comment of all, even the totally tasteless ones about babies.

    Re: sarbeary

Oh I have an opinion but I would have to write a book to get all my thoughts out. First, you all need to know that the person who is SICK needs to agree to treatment. 50% of those with schizophrenia have no insight that they are sick. What this means is that the reality in their head is just as real as your reality. This is scary but when the brain chemistry is off, you will hear the most horrible things in your head and you do loose your mind. The laws have changed so much over the years that you can only admit someone involuntary if they are a threat to themselves or others. Since most people are not violent, it can take a while to get help. My brother goes off his meds on a regular basis because he is unaware that he is sick. Trust me, I have been in the situation more than once with my bro. Kendra's law was passed after a mother tried EVERYTHING to get her suicidal daughter admitted. Her daughter did in fact commit suicide. So, with that said, yes, a family hands are tied, but I am trying to learn how to get new laws passed so the family has more say in the situation. I know that when this mother realizes what she did (because she was not in her right mind) she will probably want to kill herself. Think about how you would feel in the situation, as a helpless family member. Society plays a part in all of this.

  9. 209

    gross, actually repulsive..

    Re: sarbeary

One other thing, I am using this story as an example of how a very rare occurrence will fuel stereotypes for the millions of others who suffer and are never violent. Those are the people I fight for. I compare this to the Civil Rights movement. We are branding millions based on a few rare cases of violence. That is not fair and it is propaganda at its best. You will never know what it is like to be robbed of your future, your freedom and your inner peace.

  11. 211

What the fuck does this have to do with celeb gossip? How sick and disgusting that Perez feels the need to post something so vile and disturbing - just for shock value. Stick with celebs.

  12. 212

omg that bitch is sick. why the fuck was she out if she had mental issues. she should be sentenced to death.

  13. 213

Re: insight – You didn't answer my question though. I understand what you're saying completely, I did the first time you said it. But now that it is officially out of the family's hands and into the judicial system's and she CAN be admitted , since she IS now seen as a danger, what should happen? I think it's pretty clear that the law won't send her to jail, so should she be institutionalized for the rest of her life? Or should she be freed after some time in an institution? Or something else? It's a very tough situation, so that's why I wanted to know what your opinion.
I also think, well more hope, that something as bizzare as this could not lead to a mass stereotype about the mentally ill. From the comments I read I never saw anyone say anything about the mentally ill in general, just specifically her. If she had, say, killed her man, you would probably not even see if reported in the media and many of these people wishing horrible things upon her wouldn't even say anything. It's only because a baby was killed. I hope to God that people understand that this is a specific event that happened to a specific person and you can in no way say that all mentally ill people are capable of this, or even as one person said, all Mexican women are capable of this. It's just ridiculous to even think so.

  14. 214

Who gives a CRAP if you are first FB2008, this is about a baby being mutilitated in the worst way. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR SELFISH SELF YOU HEARTLESS MORON!

This is the kind of issue where an angry mob be involved and that crazy witch of a mother be hunted down and dismembered herself. Period.

  15. 215

this really brings tears to my eyes. I have a 6 month old baby and I could never imagine such a horrid thing happening to her. awful. just awful. There is no excuse for this. NONE.

  16. 216

Perez - you need to give more warning than that - I thought it would be the typical picture of some slovenly dressed celeb ~ not the multilation of a child.
More warning in the future, please. And God rest that baby's soul.

  17. 217

That's fucking disgusting. There is no justification for something like that! I hope she fries!! PPD my ass!

  18. 218

Re: EMilyJane – Yeah I remember when Andrea Yates killed her kids and my kid was an infant. For someone to do that and just be that calm and resolute was scary to me! I wouldn't give my baby a bath without someone there since who knows what anyone is capable of with those hormones crashing. I feared my worst nightmare!

  19. 219

we have some seriusly sick people in this country

  20. 220

The baby's dumbass father should be held responsible also for breeding with a woman who everyone was well aware that she had major issues. He needs to be punished along with the family members that new crazy was hearing voices again. This child should have been removed by family and she should have been taken back to the hospital. MSNBC said she flipped out the day before at the fathers house and got pissed and put the baby in car and drove off without buckling him in. The retard father should have stoped her then. you can see a photo of the poor baby before all this shit happened. Makes you wonder why all this happened. THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT. WELCOME TO AMERICA were crazy people run free!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: sarbeary
I apologize for not answering your question before. This matter has so many facets that I may leave something out. So, I do not believe for one second that this woman should be in jail. She is already living in hell in her head. After Regan closed many of the mental hospitals, many people with mental illness ended up on the streets (again, not hurting anyone) or in jail for small crimes. There, they remain unmedicated. People with severe mental illness must stick to a treatment program. I look at this as an illness, period. I don't even look at the crime. Primarily, this is a social issue. It is sad, but I look at the whole picture, not the small portion the rest of you choose to see. If you are unmedicated and out of your mind, family should be allowed more say in forced treatment. I think the laws need to have some flexibility with patient rights. She will probably be locked away in an institution and I agree with that. Her crime was a product of a poor mental health system and stigma. But she will never escape her guilt when well, or living hell when unmedicated.

  22. 222

    Re: sarbeary

And yes, I think she should be allowed to be freed after a certain time. Her crime was not a crime of choice. She deserves the right to treatment. In her case, she should be forced to take medicine injections for the rest of her life. Recovery is possible, it's just that most do not take it, and for many reason!

  23. 223

Re: Amanda Says – what does her having to be mexican mean anything? in the story they brought up other mothers who killed their children from texas, one of whom was white….? it doesn't matter from what background your from…people are just crazy

  24. 224

Texas is an AVID supporter of the death penalty, and she'll probably die, but I would rather have her suffer for the rest of her life in jail knowing that she killed her only baby. THEN she can fry in hell for all I care.

  25. 225

Re: insight – then her family should have forced to have an abortion. people with mental problems THAT STRONG should NOT be allowed to have children, under any circumstances. I'm sorry, but I feel no sympathy for that woman

  26. 226

Re: insight – I think that at this point it's not a question if she should be freed, it's if she can be freed. I honestly don't think she would be safe, unless she moves and changes her name, which is maybe what will happen. It is indeed very sad though, because there is no happy ending in this situation :(
Regardless, I applaud you for taking a stand and trying to raise awareness about something that is clearly very important for you, and for everyone. I wish you the best of luck, and I have subscribed to your blog.

  27. 227

Re: bh87 – YES! I agree with you! Not that I think abusing animals is ok, but I can certainly forgive Michael Vick more easily than I can this woman, even knowing she had mental problems. I have NO sympathy for anyone who hurts children. They are babies and so defenseless and it is NOT right.

  28. 228

Re: ohboy – I agree with you too. This is a clear example of someone who shouldn't have had kids. There ARE people in this world who need to be sterilized, whether people want to hear it or not.

  29. 229

My final statement to all who still think this human should be sterilized for having an illness….THIS IS NOT A BLACK AND WHITE SITUATION…look at all the facts before you are so quick to judge. Hitler sterilized human beings for the same reasons. And, he thought that by the skillful use of propaganda (in this case the media), one can make others see living hell as paradise and vise versa. I hope none of you ever have to experience a close loved one endure such a horrible mental illness.

  30. 230

electric shock therapy is what i suggest.

  31. 231

usually when u have an easily offended post its a picture of a celebrity looking haggard….i am soooo dissapointed you didnt give a warning, like "disturbing" This is traumatizing to some people.

  32. 232

Re: insight – So obviously if your brother had a child you would not leave that baby alone with him because of his illness right? So why was this mother allowed to go through with a pregnancy and be alone with a child if she had previous mental issues? I don't care if she ever showed violent tendencies before or not - she should have been watched, period!! No, no one can understand a mental illness and how it affects people/families unless they live it but that lays responsibility at the feet of the baby's father and her family doesn't it? They allowed this to happen by letting down their guard!
