Despite recent reports that John Travolta had distanced himself from Scientology in the aftermath of his son Jett's passing, Travolta is a Scientologist "now and forever," according to his rep, Paul Bloch.
Travolta, with wife Kelly Preston and daughter Ella Bleu, recently escaped to their oceanfront home in Isleboro, Maine, where the family spent their last Christmas together, just weeks before Jett's death.
The Travolta clan (including acting newbie Ella Bleu) will take the silver screen together in the upcoming comedy Old Dogs, which opens November 25th.

In a society where it is rightfully inappropriate to discriminate on other’s sexual orientation, race, religion and many personal choices, why is it okay to condemn another’s religious choice and not give others the benefit of the doubt that they protected by the same laws that give all of us the freedom of religion and choice. There is plenty in this world to criticize without ever attacking one’s religious choice and practice. It is no surprise that John has squelched the vicious tabloid rumors. No one would leave their faith in times of tragedy. It is only sad and uncalled for that he has to hear about attacks on his faith when he is grieving such a loss.
If it brings him peace of mind, then what's the harm?? leave him alone–he's a genuinely good guy who's been thru hell…

Re: Addiction Analyst – Right. We shouldn't attack people's religious choices. But scientology actually, by definition is not a religion. It's actually (and I'm not being sarcastic here) extremely comparable with a standard pyramid scheme. It's a bunch of lies they tell you to get you to donate to their cause, so the people on top can basically get rich. Actually, if you researched L.Ron Hubbard (the founder) at all, he has clearly said before that scientology was more of a money plot. Isn't it clear and obvious to you? Religions are the easiest way to get people to donate. He made up some stuff, sensationalized it, and got people to donate. Don't take my word for it though, look it up yourself. And while you're at it, research Susan Meister, Kaja Ballo, and most notably, Lisa McPhereson, who was held captive by scientologists because she wanted to quit the cult, and eventually killed in a very sad way. Like I said, research it yourself if you think I'm some ignorant internet loser trying to prove a point. Because everyone should avoid scientology and its evils.

So sad. I think it's more of a case that John and Kelly were pressured and bullied by the Cult of Scientology to stay with them. Probably used threats of filing a lawsuit or other harassment and it was prolly too much for John to take. He and Kelly are still too emotionally vulnerable in the wake of their son's death to do anything right now.
