Multi-platinum pop songstress Katy Perry just nabbed another number one hit with her latest single, Waking Up In Vegas, her third number one Top 40 song from her debut album, One of the Boys.
There have only been three other artists in the history of the Billboard charts to achieve this honor, which include Ace of Base, Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga.

"Vision of Love" became the first of many Billboard Hot 100 number 1 hits for Carey. "Love Takes Time" reached number 1, also. "Someday" became another number 1 for Carey in the U.S. "I Don't Wanna Cry" tied Carey with The Jackson 5 as the act to have their first four singles hit number 1 in the U.S.

It just goes to show the standard of music today when AVRIL LAVIGNE, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are the competition in which other musicians are trying to beat. It may be because I am Australian (or almost completely ignorant about mainstream music) but who is Ace of Base? Again, I think that we need to bring back quality music - not saying that there are no talented artists around - but they are not promoted in mainstream music. Mainstream is mostly full of crap, "catchy" music. We need another Queen…well, basically any artists that don't sing songs containing the lyrics "If You Seek Amy".

She cannot sing live at all, her voice sounds like a wailing cat and is mediocre at best, all studio magic. Her songs I kissed a girl and hot n cold were written by max martin and dr luke who just happen to be the best song writers in the world. So yeah, she took the easy way out for fame. She'll be gone in the next year.
