Armed with excitement from listening parties in NYC and El Lay, Whitney Houston's label, Arista Records, have pushed up the release date of her album I Look To You to August 31st.

      I hate to say this, as I was really looking forward to hearing this song, but her voice sounds like a barfly singer now. Gone is the songbird voice — it's harsh and crackled. It's a beautiful song, but it should have been recorded by someone else to do it justice.

      This song is crap, sounds very much like Oleta Adams' "Get here", which was a beautiful song back in the 90's. Whitney might look better than a few years ago, but her voice is destroyed. she should stay at home and keep quiet.

      The title track is good. Not great… nothing really daring in the vocals…. interested to know if she is going to be able to hit some of the old high notes like back in the day. There are high expectations on the cut.. but, we shall see.

      Her voice sounds so different… she sounds so old when she sings now! But I wish her all the best… so glad she had the strength to finally pull out of that mess.

      It seems like they're rushing out this album to cash-in on all the hype from the listening party. Everything that's leaked so far sounds incredibly dated and mediocre. The whole situation reminds me of that awful album Mariah had where they tried to make her into a balladeer again…the project was more about PR than the music itself. Then she came out with her next album that was a bonafide gem - one of the best of her career - but I honestly don't think Whitney has enough creativity to pull something like that again. Also, while Mariah's voice certainly isn't what it used to be, in terms of vocal techniques, range, and tone, she still has the best voice on radio. Whitney's just isn't anything special anymore because she has no versatility AND she can't belt it out like she used to.

      I feel like this is record is more Clive Davis than Whitney Houston, and unfortunately, Clive Davis has no idea what he's doing anymore - he's really screwed up Clarkson's latest with the singles he's forced her to release.

      I love Nippy. Always have! She is amazing. One of the best voices ever. The voice has changed but the sound and feeling is still there! I will buy this one.

      BTW. She was a professional model before she was signed as a singer.

      I like the message of the song but the drugs have taken a toll on her voice. This song is in the wrong key, she is having difficulty with those lower notes and there are no high notes at all???? Keep practising! You look mar-vill-issss!

      Bravo. I used to be a fan of Whitney when she first appeared in the 80's, then lost interest as she appeared to lose both her style and her voice. Glad to see both are back…with a vengence. ;-) American Idol and Drag Queen fodder for years to come..oh gawds help us. lol

      why does anyone care. why does she even have fans? does bad taste prevail so much that anyone will buy her album. unfortanately it apears so. this woman has never came out with anything good. her music is just overly commercial bullcrap. in some ways she is even worse than celine dion . at least celine dion seems like a nice person. whitney always seemed like a very nasty human being.

      Through the late 90's and new millenium, I REALLY had my doubts that Whitney could EVER compose herself to the level that she had previously acchieved or that she would reclaim her golden glory. I certainly hope she does. Her life merits creedence to Perez's warning that *Drugs are bad, kids." and Whitney Houston.

      She sounds like her cousin (?) Dionne Warwick here, the way she seems to pronounce things, etc. That said, it isn't the best song. She does a good job but what a boring song. Her voice isn't what it used to be — perfect and strong — but it is still interesting and good. Maybe it even has more character now. That was always my problem with her in the past. It was almost too perfect to sing anything with real soul. It was like she was a virtuoso with no emotion.

      That means they "buzz" is sooooooooo good for her, they want her to compete at this years Grammy's. She'll be facing BEYONE but Whitney can hold her own. Hope this album blows up the charts…

      Uhm so when Whitney's album got pushed back, it doesn't really matter. But when Mariah's album got pushed back, she's in trouble.
