Clarkson's Producer Responds (Again)!
After deleting yesterday's sloppy blog entry, the songwriter accused of recycling the track he penned for Beyonce's Halo on Kelly Clarkson's new single, Already Gone, has released an official statement!
Writes singer/songwriter/producer Ryan Teddard, of One Republic:
Already Gone is one of the best song I've written or produced since Bleeding Love and stands tall on it's own merits apart from Halo.
They are two entirely different songs conceptually, melodically, & lyrically and I would never try to dupe an artist such as Kelly Clarkson or Beyoncé into recording over the same musical track, the idea is both hurtful & absurd.
I think when people hear "Already Gone" they will hear what I hear-one of the greatest female vocalists on earth giving her most haunting and heart-breaking performance on a song she helped write.
I challenge people to listen and form their own opinions.

I wouldn't be to proud knowing the idiot from one republic is writing my songs.
I've listened to them side by side and they're beats, melody and phrasing are exactly the same! the only difference is the chorus is sang in a different key.
They may very well be 2 completely separate songs and have different meanings, but come on dude….they sound sooo alike that is does make it a big deal. I dont think he did anything intentional to create drama or anything, but he needs to at least accept that they sound very similar. And with all the heat that Kelly got last year it was a given that she would be criticized. I think she just jumped on it and responded first. And the label really shouldn't have insisted on putting it out when their artists didn't agree. Makes them look bad in the beginning and even worse now since I think they like Kelly getting ragged on. I personally love both Kelly and Teddy and wish them both much success.
Ryan Tedder should "apologize" for being greedy and recycling Kelly’s song to make extra bucks off beyonce!

I've listened to both, and yeah different lyrics and the vocal range and the way she starts and ends the song are different than Halo, but BY GOSH you cannot mistaken the melody! he copied himself and he cant deny it! what a douche!

Wow….way for him to avoid the actual issue at hand by praising Kelly for her vocals. The harmonies and chord progressions in the background of the music is almost the same chord by chord. Sure they came out to be two different products, yet you can't ignore the similarities. What gives Tedder? And poor Kelly, she can't catch a break.
it's ridiculous to make a big deal about these songs sounding alike. for starters, when a song blasts up the charts, it tends to spawn releases that use a copycat sound because it's a hot sound at the time. Second, when the same songwriter begins to write songs for numerous artists, of course the songs are going to sound similar, because it's the writer's style. I mean let's be honest. Look at, for instance, Motown's Holland/Dozier/Holland. Motown songs ALL sound similar because the sound was hot and the same team was writing them. David Foster's songs? All sound similar because that's his style. And guess what. Ryan Tedder is also the writer of Jordin Sparks single "Battlefield," and, lo and behold, it sounds similar to both the Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson tracks. Sure they all sound similar, but for that very reason, each song catches on quicker because it sounds somewhat familiar even though it's new…it's calculated hit making.

They both have strings… so I guess if you listen to them side by side you can hear Tedder's style and the strings… but really they aren't THAT alike. A lot of producers' songs sound similar based on their style at the time.

I can see how they would be labeled as similar, but Halo has like a ten times more intense bass in the background and if anything, they're the same thing but already gone is like a pop-ish version to beyonce's hip hop track.

Its really a great song. I know what Kelly is saying, they will blame her as a ripoff to Beyone and her career has just taken off again.
