Summit Screws Rachelle! Fired Twilight Star Speaks!

As we mentioned earlier, Summit Entertainment announced - to the surprise of EVERYONE - that Rachelle Lefevre would not be reprising her role as "Victoria" in the third film in the Twilight series, Eclipse. Instead, actress (and Ron Howard's daughter), Bryce Dallas Howard will be taking over as the redheaded beauty.
You were surprised. We were surprised. But no one was more surprised than Rachelle, who was "stunned by Summit's decision."
Of being recast, she says:
“I was fully committed to the ‘Twilight’ saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part. I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the ‘Twilight’ audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of ‘Eclipse’ only the very best."
Wow! Dick move on Summit's behalf. Wonder why they were so eager to give the young actress the boot?
Will Twilighters accept the newcomer? Or will you be loyal to the ousted Lefevre??
P.S. This is probably the best thing that could have happened to Rachelle Lefevre, actually. Now, everybody knows Rachelle Lefevre, right Rachelle Lefevre????

This sucks. Eclipse is the biggest movie or Victoria and should have been finished out by Rachelle. The other cast members should protest this decision. I hate when people are recast. It just feels like the flow is disturbed. Dallas Howard is a good actress but this part belongs to Rachelle. Boo to those who made this decision. Hopefully Rachelle will benefit from this HUGE mistake on the part of the The Twilight Series

I do hate to see character changes, however, they are not always for the worst. They replaced Katie Holmes with Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dark Knight and we were all relieved I'm sure. I'm looking forward to seeing what Bryce Howard can do for Victoria's character.

well it's already known that summit isn't the smartest studio out there…
firstly, the screen writing on the first movie seriously SUCKED. some of the lines were laughable and absolutely ridiculous. "spider monkey"? COME ON!
secondly, the fact that they even considered re-casting taylor for new moon proves their utter stupidity! he has a HUGE following and people would watch him no matter how much he bulked up for the movie.
I must say, I am so saddened that Rachelle has been re-cast, and in such a thoughtless way! I have gone to events held where the twilight cast has been present and she is so gracious and truly displays a passion for her role as victoria. The fans LOVE her, and will not accept bryce dallas howard with open arms.

The Twilight saga should have been signed to a studio like WB. They at least know what the hell they are doing!

I'll wait to see how she is in Eclipse to really judge the decision. But when I read the books, even before I saw the movie, I always pictures someone like Rachelle to take the role. I don't picture the new girl what so ever as Victoria!!

This is so stupid, it just wont be the same without Rachelle she was clearly the best she already proved she can do the part. Plus she worked so hard through twilight and im sure just as hard if not harder through new moon this is just the dumbest decision Summit entertainement has made you can't just change the cast half way through its like changing the book half way through. It's just not how it's supposed to be, and i think Summit will be very disapointed in their decision later on.

Another ridiculous blunder by Summit. The first blunder was ousting star director Katherine Hardwicke for crapola director Chris "I absolutely slaughtered Golden Compass" Weitz. Second huge blunder - getting rid of the lovely Rachel Lefevbre in exchange for Ron Howard offspring - what's her name Blythe Dallas Howard. Come on, Dallas Howard commands a hefty salary too, that wasn't an acceptable reason to get rid of Lefevbre….she was GREAT as Victoria, better cast than Kirsten Stewart that's for sure. Summit - I'm coming to the conclusion that you suck.

I think that Summit just wants to ruin the Twilight Saga. First they hire Catherine Hardwick…really? Was she the best director you could find? Then they get Melissa Rosenberg to do the script… and we all know how well that turned out. Then they decide to cast Nikki Reed as Rosalie and Kstew as Bella, I love them both as actresses but they are clearly wrong for those rolls. And now they go messing around with something they should have left alone. Have they never heard the saying 'If it ain't broken, don't fix it' ? I'm really upset by this. Rachelle was great as Victoria, I think it's really crappy of them to recast such a big character in the middle of the films. That sucks really bad, especially with Victoria being so prodominant in the next film.
