Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin "Lost Kate To Fame"
Kate Gosselin's brother, Kevin Kreider, and his wife Jodi, went on The Early Show on Thursday to discuss "the damage that's been done," to their eight nieces and nephews. The couple are concerned with the lifestyle the children are now leading as a result of the constant camera presence from TLC for Jon & Kate Plus 8.
They say that there need to be rules and regulations regarding how much filming should be allowed per day, and where to draw the line when it comes to filming private moments, such as bathroom time. The aunt and uncle blame TLC for turning their nieces and nephews lives into a ratings game rather than letting them have their childhoods.
They also say that they feel like they've lost Kate to fame and that when they've tried to have this conversation with her in the past, she is surrounded by people from TLC who are influencing her. They claim that the network has tried to cut them out as much as possible, which is why going on air was their best option to be heard.
Hmm. We feel like there has to be some other way to get your message across - going on the news only perpetuates the media fascination with Jon & Kate. Plus, it makes y'all look bitter! And jealous you were cut out of the money!!!
They do raise some good points though; as children are appearing more and more in reality shows, there should be a standard for what's allowed so that children's lives aren't disrupted and they can maintain some sense of normalcy. As we've seen hundreds of times, effing with someone's childhood leads nowhere good.
Still, we think they want their share of the limelight!

I love how they seem to blame TLC more that Kate & Jon. Yes, the network is a typically sleazy corporate entity, but they're not the ones entrusted to make decisions as to what is in the best interests of the children, their parents are. Unfortunately, the parents just seem to want to not only get even richer than they already are, but to be famous celebrities. Kate is full of crap when she says she does this for her children - it's all about her ego.
The best point they made no trust funds are in place for the benefit of the children. Both Jon & Kate are pissing away every dime! There will not be any money left when it comes time for the children to go to college.
She's not a famewhore - this aunt has been trying to say this for YEARS now… she's had blogs and small local stories forever now. She's been concerned every since Kate shut everyone of her family out that raised concerns…

I do think it is really sad. What is even more sad is the amount of people who tune in to the show or buy a magazine to read about the families drama. The mom and dad need to get there act together. They are not thinking about the well being of the children and are thinking about the money.

If you watch the show, the kids are going on fun outings all the time. It's not like they have to memorize lines or anything like the child stars had to from the old days. As long as each kid has a growing trust fund for college, then what's the big deal? This annoying fame-ho couple needs to go away. They tried to get in on the fame and the money and they lost out - too bad - your 15 minutes are up….next!

At least these 2 hicks got a makeover since their last appearance. All was great when they were showing THEIR OWN CHILDREN on the show and making money. Now is not good for children. Jon and Kate's kids are healthy and HAPPY due to KATE'S PARENTING SKILLS. They are hurting about the divorce but like 60% of American children who are from divorced parents, they will survive. The show supports them and gives them more opportunities than without this show. JON SHOULD GO FROM THE SHOW. He is not a good parent and not even a decent human being. We all see now why Kate was so frustrated with him.

Anyhoo, I feel bad for the kids when all this fame and hoopla goes out the window. They'll have to start living a normal lifestyle without the freebies of going to concerts, amusement parks and travelling. Re: PLEZZZ – Um, factually incorrect. It ranges from 18-24 shows per season. The majority of the time goes into the interviews that Kate and Jon do…not the kids. It's a total of three days of filming, interviews included.

i worked on a family-centered reality show in the past and due to that particular state's child labor laws we were not allowed to film more than 10 hours a day with any of the minors/kids (adults/parents were another story). the rule was strictly enforced despite the issues it caused with the production schedule.

I think this would have a great impact if they emphasized that they were not being payed for this interview. If they said hey you contacted us and we decided to come on the show, no money exchanged, because we wanted people to know that our nieces and nephews are hurting and we cant do anything about it and their mom or dad are part of the problem. I stopped watching that show about 2 seasons ago when everything started going downhill. I wish everyone would stop watching.

Jodi watched the kids, along with her own while Jon and I went to California for Jon's hairplugs (and shopping). Most of the kids were either sick or potty training. My brother Kevin spent a week emptying dirty potties, cleaning up puke and diarrhea, etc. What a jerk for thinking my kids shouldn't be exploited.
He's so jealous of my life and is mad that I wouldn't allow TLC to pay them. Just because they filmed at his house is no reason for them to be compensated. Just because I had to hire somebody to do what Jodi was doing for free doesn't mean she should have gotten paid for watching 7 kids every Friday. She went to Oprah with me. That's enough. I don't let her near my kids anymore. Once they started loving her more than me (I think that was about the time they started talking) I knew I would eventually have to delete them from our lives.

perez, I thought your postings were on target…now I am not so sure. If or when you watched Jon and Kate when it was just a documentary about their lives, you saw both Jodi and Kevin there to help in every way. Jodi, watched the kids once a week so Kate would have time to herself..Now you judge them for caring about the kids. Wow, who really made you judge and jury, and if you want to pretend you are, at least know the facts.

And I'm assuming they earned their money the old fashion way- actual work. I have only seen a few episodes in the beginning and I remember seeing these two- they had a VERY nice house (nicer than Jon and Kate's) and seemed very caring to the 8. I think their intentions are good and they are certainly not doing this for money or fame, but for the protection of their nieces and nephews. They have had these concerns way before this circus, it's just now they now have national/worldwide interest in order to voice their concerns to the public.

This is such a crock. Jodi and Kevin quit the show because they themselves weren't being paid. Mind you, they used to show their children on the show all the time. There's a reason Kate is estranged from her entire family….people like Kevin. I love Kate but maybe it gives light to why she's isn't so "normal".
