Audiences Don't Find Funny People All That Funny

The new Judd Apatow flick, Funny People, starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen, is barely breaking the studio's low expectations!
Even though Funny People was #1 in sales on Friday with $8.6 mil, the film is only expected to bring in $25.6 million over the course of the weekend, a staggering $10-$15 million less than the norm for Sandler, whose movies usually open anywhere between $30-$40 mil!
No good!
The "dramedy" will need to earn $100 million in the States to push Universal into the green, but we don't see that happening!
Perhaps if they didn't have such a suckass trailer it would have attracted more people???

This movie was kinda lame but worth seeing if you have absolutely nothing else to do.
I think people are a little fed up with all jew main characters in movies, its like one right after another, I think its time for America to give the heebs the boot, through out history they get the boot every land they infest, why should 2009 be any different?just look they're ruining our country,the Rothschilds and Rockefellers(jews) own this country and are destroying our economy to force a one world economy/currency/Gov't for the solution to the problem they've created for total control of the world,if you don't believe me watch the G8 summit on YT or type new world order.

This movie was not good at all or funny. God it also dragged on forever! Way too long and crappy and i love adam sandler and seth rogen.
My Mother and Brother saw it last night. Mom says the film was 3 hours long…with very few laughs.

$25 million dollars at the box office is not bad. Many movies this year that topped the box office made about that much. Except for the over-hyped, not as good as the should have been, summer blockbusters.

this movie is actually not funny. but, I think, perhaps, that is because comdians are actually quite sad. Sometimes, anyway, because of all that traveling…yeah lots of money and famous people, but you don't have a family…loved ones you see everyday… Anyway, this movie is very Drama-ish, with bits of comedy sprinkled in…probably mostly ad-libbing…which is actually quite good (for ad-libbing) and also very true to what actual comedy is like…the best part of comedy anyway…not like the Randy character, which is more the loud, in-yr-face Dane Cook comedy but the more sutle, true-to-life honest comedy like the Ira character. I really love Jonah Hill and feel that I didn't see enough of him…this movie is not a Superbad or Sarah Marshall…it is different. Judd and Leslie's kids are adorable. Majorly cute, family movie. Boring. Too long. Editing! Seems like this director was given a lot of freedom this time to make his film that way he wanted. I respect and enjoyed it. But it wasn't what I expected. Trailer shows some of best comedy bits, this is a drama. Sarah Silverman is sexy in her pirate clothes. I like pirates.

I thought it was quite funnny with several laugh out loud moments. It's 2 hrs 16 min long and no. 1 at the box office this weekend. Where's the problem? It's no masterpiece but its certainly worth watching. Prudish types should see it and try to loosen up a little.
Saw this movie last night. It was good, but the problem is that it's too long. People were walking out of the movie theater. IT was funny in the beginning but the story was way too long. I thought some of the story lines were left unfinished.
I loved the trailer! My fave scene now is where Leslie mann is talking to her Aussie hubby in a mocking wannabe Aussie/Cockney accent reassuring that nothing happened between her and adam sandler.
It seems most the people that didn't like the movie didn't actually check to see what the movie was about. It was meant to have funny parts but to be more of a dramatic film and that's exactly what it was which was exactly what I got from the previews… not sure where some of you are getting the impression that the movie was suppose to be just a comedy. Its like the people that went to see Jim Carreys movie "The Cable Guy" thinking it was just another Ace Ventura/Dumb and Dumber type of comedy when in reality it was a very dark comedy. I knew what that movie was about and enjoyed it. Same goes here, I had a pretty good idea what the movie was going to be liked and enjoyed this one as well.

If Sandler's movies typically bring in $30-40 million opening weekend and Funny People only brings in $25 million, that's approximately $5-15 million less than normal, NOT $10-15 million less.

screwwwwwww the producer of this movie. I wasted my Saturday night going to see this peice of shit of a movie. I was very very disappointed. Adam Sandler is my all time favorite comedian, and I own and LOVE EVERY single movie that man has ever been in. I read online that this was supposed to be "his best movie yet". WTF. BULLSHIT. Seth Rogan is equally just as funny… and i SWEAR i didnt laugh 4 times though the entire fucking movie. this movie was a CROCK. and pissed me off. its a dramatic love story with SOME scarcastic comedy thrown in. all in all i would call it "Depressing"

I saw the movie. It was long, but I found it extremely humorous. I love all the actors involved and the comedy was right on. I have found however, that females seem to enjoy it better than males. I don't know what that means but by just talking to people and getting opinions, that's what I have found. So maybe it's more of the female movie with all its touchy feely stuff.
i really liked superbad and pineapple express was funny cuz of danny mcbride, but im really over this chucklehead. hes a shitty actor, cant he just stick to writing? or maybe make a movie I can get in without being jewish

well its rated 7.5/10, thats not all so bad, actually 7.5 is close to excellent
