And in 1917 Jordan was also created as part of the British mandate of Palestine (which was created for the arabs). And recently Jordan has been stripping Palestinians of their Jordanian citizenship (palestinains make up about 70 or 80% of the population there).

The situation there is much more complex than the black and white the media and people try and portray it as. And people saying that Israel is evil and should be destroyed are just as bad as the people saying Palestinians are useless and should all be killed.

Everyone here is shocked, outraged and devastated about this outrageous crime. Everyone has condemned this disgusting hate crime including the ultra-Orthodox Shas party. There has never been a hate crime like this against gays in Israel before, and there has been massive police, political and public action here in Israel since last night. Tel Aviv is the heart of Israel's gay community, hosts a huge pride parade every year, and is reeling from this event. Israel recognizes gay marriages, allows openly gay people to serve in the military, and even grants residency permits to gay Arabs who fear abuse and murder from their families and communities in the West Bank and Gaza. Everyone here is heartbroken, and I have no doubt that the people who did this will be caught and dealt with both swiftly and harshly. My prayers go out to those who were killed or injured in the shooting, as well as their families, friends, and the broader community.

This is sad- more than sucks Perez.. and everyone is right that there are many atrocities that are terrible in that area as well.. but as much as everyone likes to point to Israel I think they need to take a look at all the countries surrounding.. because Israel is the only country in the Middle East where you can be openly gay, and proud (in certain areas.. even Jews cant walk through certain areas not dressed conservatively for example because there are religious people there it offends) and not be hung by your balls..

It is very sad and heart breaking what happened last night in Tel Aviv. As people are going off about Israel, I feel that as an friend of the GLBT community in Israel, it is important for people to know this:

Israel is the MOST Gay-Friendly Country in the Middle East. These are thing that you don't hear about if you are not in Israel.

1) We RECOGNIZE GAY MARRIAGES FROM ABROAD
2) Gender Reconstructive Surgery is PAID for through national health care
3) We provide ASYLUM for GLBT community from abroad (mainly Palestinians that would be MURDERED if their sexuality was known!)
4) We have clubs, parades and more celebrating the LGBT community
5) LGBT can adopt children
6) L couples receive HELP from the gov't to conceive children
7) We have OUT members of Parliament
8) You will not be banned from Donating blood (like in Canada) if you are a Gay Male.

Yes, there are problems in Israel; however, we have a strong LGBT community - it is sad and shocking whats going on. Check out some of the Israeli papers for news about the situation. w w w haaretz dot c o m.
