Nick Jonas is already quite the lil' humanitarian!
The JoBro will be speaking at a National Press Club luncheon on August 24th in Washington D.C. to muse over his first-hand experience living with juvenile diabetes.
Jonas will also be promoting his new website, Nick's Simple Wins, which is targeted towards kids and teens struggling with juvenile diabetes and to "inspire young people with diabetes to achieve small, everyday victories while managing their disease."
The Jonas Brothers have also founded their own charity, The Jonas Brothers' Change for the Children Foundation, in which they raise $ for diabetes programs across the country.
Yeah, Nick Jonas is better than you.

On a normal basis I don't comment on teen post. But, I have to give it to Nick for doing this. I am an adult with diabetes and it's not fun. It runs in my family. I'm only 5'9, 118 pounds and it's just the luck of the draw. I don't drink or eat a lot of unhealthy foods as that has nothing to do with it. He is trying to make people aware of this THING! Most of us have to use a needle 3 times a in our fingers to get the blood to test our sugar. Yeah, it's important to have a complete physical every year. He has a different type then me. Because he is a teen. They have it worse then me. I take no medicine for mine. I don't want to ramble on but this can happen to anyone at any time. A lot of us are living proof! Kudos kid! I hope I make sense. I'm typing off the top of my head. Have a great Sunday peeps!

Read up on what he is talking about. This is important I don't think he is better than anyone else with diabetes. Some kids have it and don't know it and they can die from it. This is a serious issue. Especially for teens. Damn it's not about him it's about juvenile diabetes. Stick to the facts and research

I appreciate EVERYTHING Nick Jonas has done for the diabetic community. I've had type 1 diabetes for 11 years, the same kind of diabetes Nick has. It is a very serious disease that should NOT be taken lightly. It takes extrememly hard work to take care care of yourself when you're a diabetic and it's certainly no fun, I wouldn't wish it on ANYONE, including all the people that are joking about this topic. I don't care if you don't like the the Jonas brothers. Atleast people are paying attention to it. Hopefully all the publicity he's getting will prompt more research to find a cure.

somehow this really annoys me. he has had diabetes for what, 3 years? i have had diabetes since i was only a few months old. i am now 13 and it really pisses me off that since he is a celebrity he thinks that if he gets involved everyone will love him and it will be alright. this is what i have been doing my whole life and i dont get special notice because of it. and it iws kinda sad that he has only started helping since he has become famous
Diabetes sounds like a struggle. It can make you dress up in fruit and bumblebee costumes for sound checks, and then you look back, and there are photos.

Eating junk food and being overweight puts you at risk for TYPE 2 diabetes. It is for IDIOTS like you that this world needs people like Nick Jonas to step up and educate the world on the 2 DIFFERENT TYPES OF DIABETES so that idiotic comments like the one you just made stop.

Diabetes is a serious issue, it isn't called the silent killer for nothing! I think the more "celebrities" we have talking about and promoting their "issues" the better. Seriously, what harm is it doing? NONE! He is bringing more awareness to the disease that he lives with daily and showing our kids that do have this disease that being normal and following your dream and achieving it are possible, to not let diabetes stop you or hinder you in anyway.

I am a teen with type 1 diabetes, honestly, it's not that bad for me but I know some teens whp are really affected by it:( But I appreciate what Nick is doing for us. Yes I know it's a little selfish because he probably wouldnt care if he didnt have it, but atleast he is using his celebrity to help some kids who really need it.

I don't get it- does he have juvenile diabetes or not? Because if he does, it will kill him eventually. Juvenile destroys your liver, kidneys, heart, everything! All organs eventually just go so the lifespan gets drastically reduced by 30% on average. I doubt it that he'll live until his 40. And that's sad.
Re: fucking-classy – Uhhh juvenile diabetics can definately live normal long healthy lives last time I checked…and last my doctor told me. Soooo I don't know where you heard that fact from. Yeah diabetes can kill you very prematurely if you don't take care of yourself…but as long as you do take care of yourself, there's no reason you shouldn't live WAY past 40.

okay seriously? hating on nick for doing a good deed? just because you hate him and the jonas brothers doesn't mean he's as shallow or self-absorbed as some of you may be. you can't assume that he wouldn't do this even if it didn't affect him. how is he milking his diabetes? juvenile diabetes is a horrible thing and he's taking action and working hard on helping kids who have it. he's famous and since he has it, he has a better chance of making a difference than some random person who isn't. that's not milking it. it's using what he's privileged with to make a difference in this world.
and to the people who are saying he's ignorant and that he should just deal with it, i bet that you wouldn't be saying that if it was happening to you. it's not just a "no big deal" kind of thing. it can be deadly and people have said it's the worst type you can have. he's trying to help so many people who's lives have been ruined by this. and that's truly amazing.

I suggest you do some research before making such a judgemental and ill informed comment. Any type of diabetes can lead to all the things you mention 'if' it is uncontrolled. However if you monitor and treat yourself correctly (which damn hard work but achievable) you stand a good chance to avoid such complications and can have the same life expectancy as anyone else, and actually often higher than those without diabetes as diabetics are very aware of their health and what they need to be doing to stay healthy.

I think you've made it perfectly clear who the idiot is.. eating foods like Burger King dose not give you diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition, you are born with a predisposition with it and there's nothing you can do about it. Type 2 is more complex, there is a link with obesity yes but again there is a gentic/predisposition element to it so I'm afraid nowhere near as simplistic as you obviously would like it to be.
I think Nick is doing an awsome thing for kids with diabetes. He is using his popularity to raise awarness about the disease. To those of you who are insulting him, what are you doing to help the world?
