A New Look For Nick

Nickelodeon decided that it was time to do some rebranding, so the newest logo for the kid-centric channel has been revealed.
No longer will the familiar splat of slime, reminiscent for many of us children of the 80s & 90s, be part of the graphic. Now, the network has gone for a more modernized and generic logo for this and all the sister networks.
President Cyma Zarghami released a statement, saying, "We wanted to clean it up and allow Nick to be the stamp on all of these channels… In asking ourselves if everything could live under the splat, we decided that the splat was dated. It just couldn't be done in a streamlined way."
There goes another childhood memory.

Well this sucks.
they could at least kept the font… thats so dumb….
to me it will always be the splat of slime and rugrats and hey arnold….and stuff
I think, Im glad to say I was lucky enough NOT to be a kid in the 2000's… there goes Nickelodeon.

The whole direction of Nick since the early 2000's has been steadily downhill. The shows suck, they no longer have any of the "good cartoons" of yesteryear but rather have a bunch of tween drama shows.

I still feel that they should have just updated the splat a bit. It's really a branding thing. Just like Disney wouldn't be Disney without a Micky Mouse head, Nickelodeon just wont be the same without the splat. I guess it's just my childhood though. I grew up watching Nick shows like Rocko's Modern Life, Salute Your Shorts, Rugrats, etc. I guess that since the quality of the programming has diminished, so too must the iconic logo.
i think it's cleaner and it will open a lot of new memories to the upcoming generation of kids!

This is why Nick sucks now. They've changed drastically and not in a good way. It was all bout kids just being KIDS. Now it's filled with shows that deal with girls, boyfriends, make-up, etc.

I agree. These so called "Kid" networks aren't for kids anymore. When i took my baby to children s Hospital they had the disney channel on and Hannah Montana was on, it was the first time i ever saw a second of that stupid show. As i was seeing it i saw that crap is not for children. The episode took place in Vegas and it was about how 2 dumb ass teens want to get married…. Yeah, can so relate to that dumb shit.
All these TV execs are fucking stupid. I remember when MTV was actually entertaining and not filled with a bunch of stupid reality shows.
And the new "Logo" sucks, it's not even a logo. It's an orange font that says Nickelodeon. I wonder how many seconds it took them to come up with it.

i want the old nickelodean back! the nick i remember back in the 90s when i was a kid. when shows like hey arnold, rugrats, and are you afraid of the dark was still on. when you could just be a kid and have fun instead of nowadays where everyone wants to grow up fast and get their hair and makeup done and be popular and famous. i hate the shows they have on now. and disney sucks too. LET KIDS BE KIDS!

i remember nickelodeon from years ago…now it seems like its all the wizards of waverly whatever…and whatnots….im glad i was a kid growing up during the creepy weird kids shows. now its so manufactured and stupid!!! coraline is a good kids movie tho

Nick has changed. they dont show that much cartoons or the really good shows anymore , like Invador Zim, Rugrats, Amanda Show, CatDog, Doug, Hey Arnold!, Salute Your Shorts, Aaaaahh! Real Monsters, Kenan & Kel. they dont show those anymore. its a rip off! i hate nickelodeon now!

Dont like the logo, but the splat of slime was used in the 90s when they would actually USE slime. THey used to have double dare and what would you do shows that actually made the logo an icon, however since they only air sponge bob there really is no use for the classic slime splat anymore.
Okay this is wrong on so many different levels. this makes me want to write a strongly worded letter, all the shows are crap now, even SPONGE BOB is crap now. They effed up sponge bob, got rid of one of their most famous shows [rug rats] and the shows have no real plot lines anymore. Back in the day are you afraid of the dark was actually SCARY , Kenan and Kell made you CRY, they got rid of everything, i think Nick is better off just calling it quits instead of destroying the imaginations of little kids now, we had it so good in the 90's and i think the kids now deserve the same ): Screw the new logo. Slime all the way.

Hate it. It's a channel that's aimed at kids, the splat was cool. I just showed my 7 year old niece and she didn't like it either. I hate it when brands make logo changes! They are always lame in their attempt to be "hip". The Baskin Robins" and The pizza hut logo changes are just two of the very many that annoy me.

Nice to know how generic Nickelodeon is coming, now even Cartoon Network is changing. They are "including people." The tweeny bopper crap is pissing me off. What happened to Hey Arnold, Rocket Power, Rugrats? They want to transfer to the TeenNick stage where they show pointless crap such as iCarly, etc. Good thing I stopped watching it in '04.
