We forgot all about Kimberley Locke from American Idol, but someone else sure hasn't because the loser singer is getting a job.
It's a pretty good gig, if you consider that chubsters are taking over reality TV.
We've already been given a plus-sized version of the Bachelor & So You Think You Can Dance. It was only a matter of time before we got a big people sized Making the Band!
Making the Curve (clever!) will be hosted by the Idol alum and will follow talented, plus-sized women as they compete and strive to be apart of a "hit pop musical group."
Someone call Susan Boyle!
The show is currently not attached to a network, but we don't see that lasting long. Considering that the show's premise will definitely attract viewership and that the host will gladly accept spare change as pay, it sounds like a good deal for any Fall schedule.

This really upsets me that someone who used to be of the larger weight scale, you, would talk about others in this way. People need to get over how people look and start talking positively about each other. It is people like you Perez and some of the other comments I read here from other people, that put society down and think that everyone needs to be 80 lbs or under a size 4 (as someone else put). Do you realize how UNHEALTHY that is? People need to get over the image in their head that we need to look that way because WELCOME to the 21st century we are not size 4 and below anymore. Does my weight or anyone else’s really affect you haters? America is growing in population and weight yes and I am glad people who have extra meat on their bones are getting on to TV and following their dreams. Race, weight, gay or straight, disability or not, smart or not so smart, wear glasses or done, red hair or blonde etc….So if the country wants us to accept Race and Gay's shouldn’t we also accept everyone as they are no matter what they are or what they look like? Think about it people. If someone in your family became "fat (as people put it)" would you continue making these comments or stop because it is hurtful? I am in the Insurance business and weight lost surgery’s are not even getting paid for usually it is out of the person’s pocket. The people who are anorexic are the ones constantly in the doctor’s office or hospital or in special hospitals to help them out. Why aren’t you discussing them as being the cause for healthcare costs? And the issues with Health Care has NOTHING to do with that, it is the government and their funding and their taking care of bills and Doctors and Hospitals. I would know as I work in the business. If she were to lose enough weight to look the way "Jacob" thinks is acceptable, we'd have to put her in a hospital on an IV! Don't do it girl! I've been there; you can't get rid of your curves & whatever they put in those IVs for underfed people HURTS like, well, you know.
As a so called fattie, while we shouldn't judge, we shouldn't also allow anyone a free pass to balloon up to whatever they want either. Yes, some of it is medical - but having a big mac everyday, with large fries shouldn't be praised. I've split my pelvic bone while pregnant, so while I'm not 100% excused, I can see the medical aspect. At 5'4 and 215lbs (down 10), I can barely breathe properly, my body is in physical pain from trying to carry the extra weight and there's excess pressure on my heart, while I've hit a few early markers for diabetes, and this is within the last 18 months of pregnancy and physical therapy. I'm working on getting down again of course, but I don't expect that while people should have courtesy not to blab about thicker people, we should also be realistic. Especially since what restaurants call mini-burgers these days were actual burgers only a few decades ago. A nation of glut cannot defend itself either.
They certainly milk every hit t.v. show every which way. I guess they're trying to simultaneously make bank on the cachet of old Idol contestants, while tapping into that obvious (chubby but talented) underdog demographic that went nuts over Susan Boyle. It will water down the original Idol audience. We'll see.

I recall a girl I knew in college who was heavy, not fat, just a little big. And somehow the topic came up about being overweight and the way others treat you when you are. Having ridden the scale myself I could relate, but not as much as she stated that it got so deep with being girl that it affected everything from the obvious (male attention) to finding a job. She said she preferred to be heavier and have people treat her for who she is and not what she looks like. It;s how she separated the real from the phony. You sir… are a fucking traitor.

She is one of the most talent contestants they've ever had on the show. To see her "live" was amazing… I wish her luck with this show, but hope she still will drop another album… would love to see a Jhud duet.

Re: lastonestanding – Sadly, that's a defense mechanism to stay heavy for what seems like good reasons. They hide behind whatever they call their true selves to remove the responsibility to other people's reactions. If it's what she truly preferred - the comments, the looks, the glares, those commercials and jobs wouldn't bother her. It does affect job interviewing wise. If you are timid about your body, that attitude comes right through to professionals trained to read your body. Not the size, but whether you tug at your clothes, cross your arms to cover your body, etc. You aren't comfortable and confident and who wants someone who won't fix the problem of their own to lead a company that way? Especially in visual sales. You work at Michael Kors… you wear the clothes but you are always tugging at them, trying to fix them to hide something… or the girl who is bigger than you is blaring a smile, walking gracefully and greeting the customers first. Which one, to a manager looks like they can sell more. One who looks like the clothes were made for her (in whatever size), or one who can't see to get comfy in those clothes?
