Michael Moore Taking A Break From Documentary Filmmaking
So it looks like Michael Moore may be taking a break from documentary filmmaking to pursue two different features, one of them a comedy and the other a mystery.
Moore already has one feature to his credit - the cult classic Canadian Bacon - but is mostly known for his documentaries.
But before he gets to work on his features, however, he's finishing up Capitalism: A Love Story, which is due in theaters in September.
Speaking of the inspiration for Capitalism, Moore said:
"I thought, why don't I just go for it and go right to the source of the problem — an economic system that is unfair, it's unjust and it's not democratic. And now we've learned it doesn't work. This issue informs all my other movies. I started thinking if I can only make one more movie — I started thinking this of course during the Bush years — what would that movie be? And this is the movie."
So will people be able to watch the movie for free? You know, because he's so anti-capitalism and all.

None of his movies have been documentaries so far… they need to have a basis in fact first. Its amazing the amount of people that fall for his underhanded way of film making… his fun with numbers, twisting of the truth and in some cases just out right telling lies. If it makes ya feel better then I guess thats up to you but it puts you into that brainless sheep category of people.

obviously, none of you has any idea as to how the film industry works. you can't just let people into movies for free. no production company would pick it up. no theater would carry it. no one would agree to work on the damn thing(cameramen, gaffers, editors, etc) because they wouldn't get paid. do you people really believe that michael moore is the only person that stands to gain money off of this film? get a freaking clue.

luvpumpkns, you obviously don't understand the point. Michael Moore wants to make a movie about how awful capitalism is, yet it is capitalism that has allowed him and everyone else involved in his "documentaries" to make money. Anyone on board for that movie should be willing to let it be seen for free or give the profits away. But of course they won't because its ok for them to make their money, he just has a problem with other making money.
i understand the point, but it's pretty silly to pretend that the only people that are allowed to speak out against capitalism are people that have never benefited from it. whether you like it or not, the only people that are going to call the system into question are the very people that have benefited from it, since they obviously had a good education and have enough money to sit around and ponder the philosophy of economic systems. i'm not saying moore can't be manipulative when it comes to his films, but making a movie about the ills of capitalism doesn't necessarily make him a hypocrite. as a sign of good faith, however, he should donate all proceeds from the movie to charity.

as far as I have read that isn't really the point of the movie, but that he is pointing out that everyone touts the free market (which is necessary for capitalism) but that this does not exist in America. Markets are manipulated through lobbying activity and power brokering and are not at all free, the cream doesn't rise to the top since somebody in government who's been bought through lobbying, pours the sour milk on top and the rancid chunks float.

It's obvious that Michael Moore isn't going to change the economic system with a movie … jesus calm down. By suggesting that if he's so "anti-capitalist" he should have free entry is ridiculous and further shows ignorance about the economic system.
Capitalism is actually the worst economic system …. it enables the rich to get richer, while the poor get steadily poorer. It enables a rule by the few over the many. The rich rule because they have the power to keep the poor down; the rich people either make the laws or have influence to make the laws how they would like. I would've thought that a lot of Americans would be able to see this, seeing as how they don't even have universal basic health care.

Michael Moore basically represents everything I hate about liberals. Just look at him. What a hypocrite. I read in Ken Schweizer's "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" that whenever he goes on book tours, he books an expensive suite at a fancy hotel where he actually stays, then another room in a dingier place for meeting the press! UGH. I disagree with most conservatives but the hypocrisy among the "cooler" left-wingers is a lot more disgusting.
