Hey! Their called cicadas. If I'm correct cause I don't know if they have them over in Japan, but there are cicadas here and they make the exact same sound. Google it, their like beetles or something with a green shell that make that high pitched noise.

Hi Perez! Those things you hear are what we call "Chicharras" or "Cigarras", here in Costa Rica, you can find them specilly in tropical places, Mercedes Sossa, the singr has a song about those, because they emerge from soil after being under for almost a year. Then when they have wings they flip them sooooo fast and that is what we can hear. Here in Costa Rica, during dry season you can hear them a lot, and there are places like Gunacaste and Limon, thet you can hear them 24/7. Lol, I hope this information helps you xoxo, Flower

cicadas!! They're everywhere in Tokyo this time of year. That awful sound actually makes me MISS it, haha.
The worst is in about 2 months when they all start dying, they just start falling out of the trees. One of those fuckers smacked me in the head one time!! They're HUGE.

That's a bug, in french it's called "cigalle", I don't know how to say it in english. They "sing" when the temperature reaches a certain degree. In France, mostly in the south, you can here them everywhere!
