Angels & Airwaves Are Serious Artists

~~Blink 182~~ Angels and Airwaves is releasing their new album, Love, and accompanying film for free.

Frontman Tom Delonge says of the film:

"It's super conceptual and highbrow in many ways, very artistic, very Stanley Kubrick…But it's not a rock opera. It's a very modern version of what could happen when you blend the film industry and the music industry together in a very, very arty, kind of cool way with professionals involved all along the path."

He also goes on to liken the film to Pink Floyd's The Wall.

Um, are you serious? If you're comparing yourself to Pink Floyd and Stanley Kubrick, you better deliver. Those are some big ass shoes to fill.

The album/film will be available February 14, 2010. Check out the trailer above.

Tom Delonge Is fucking Brilliant!!! This is going to be incredible and Very moving. The band AVA makes beautiful music out side of the pop/punk genre. Their grown men not teenagers. They make music for everyone. Its kinda hard to say that no one listens to them when they sell out every concert.

I'm quite sure at least one or two songs from this album will be played on the radio. As for comparing it to The Wall… I think the only comparison is the fact the movie is a backdrop for the music, even though it will never have a shred of impact like The Wall did. I also miss Tom running around naked with the other members of Blink-182 No matter how "highbrow" Tom gets with his music, I will always hear Blink-182-ish somewhere in the song.

I think it's a bit much to be comparing themselves to those big names but I am totally stoked for this to come out. I love their sound, I love Tom DeLong's voice! I've been waiting for new material from them for a while so I will be counting the days till Valentine's!!!

Eh, Tom's always been pretty cocky. And AVA is ok. Never really got into them. I've always (+44) better. I hate the way Tom sings nowadays. He sounded amazing in blink. blink is better anyways.

Tom is arrogant, that's just who he is. He has big dreams and he tries to live up to them. He wins some, he loses some, but that's life. And hell yeah, I'll be downloading it. AVA is a great band, they're sooooooo much more than teen rock/pop punk shit some liken it too. Take a moment to listen to the lyrics closely and maybe you'll get it.

absolutely love Angels and Airwaves! i can't wait for this album. You might think it's "teeny pop" but listen to each album from beginning to end and the lyrics and symbolisms are insane!

these guys are great!! I saw them open for weezer last fall in Toronto and they put on a good show. Although not as good as Blink. Tom just took this band i another musical direction.

i LOVE angels and airwaves. they are my favorite band. their music is so inspirational and has changed the way I look at a lot of things. Tom has followed through with his promises of great things in the past and i completely believe that he will deliver all that if not more. i think fans and non-fans are in for a HUGE treat. with each album and piece tom has worked on, he has developed as a better musician.

Maybe Tom Delonge`s a little megalomaniac, he still writes beautiful melodies though. Some of the Blink 182 / AVA stuff will always belong to my alltime favorites.

I find angels and airwaves music much better than U2/Pink floyd's.I find them more Trippy than pink floyd…AVA's music is like cannabis trip,thoroughly enjoyable with it.Their 1st album was not top class,but one should listen to their 2nd album to judge them completely.True they borrow a lot from Edge's guitar,but the are much from melodic than U2.the new song which plays towards the end of the clip is again borrowed heavily from Radiohead ,but it's cool.. I feel AVA will receive a lot of recognition later.
