Dan Rather Slaps CBS With A $70 Mil Lawsuit!!!
Legendary former news anchor Dan Rather is suing CBS!!!
For $70 million dollars!!!!
Rather has slapped CBS exec Les Moonves and the former news president for the station, Andrew Heyward, for fraud in the claim that he was made a scapegoat by CBS in the 2004 scandal of former prez George W. Bush's military record.
Says Martin Gold, Rather's lawyer: "These are the two individuals who committed the crime on behalf of CBS and we're holding them personally responsible."
The former news anchor originally sued the pair in 2007 for breach of contract, saying the network "damaged his future job prospects" when Rather was relieved from his position at CBS News in March 2005.
CBS's response?
Says a spokesperson for the network: "If anything, this latest tactic confirms that the whole charade is more a tiresome plea for attention by Rather than a serious lawsuit."

I am firmly on Rather's side. If you don't have the character to stand behind your own journalist, with Rather's kind of reputation and stature, he's not going to take being a sacrificial lamb lying down nor should he. It was his whole life, and he is old school. He has the intellect, backbone, character and skills to back it all up. He is honor bound to claim back that crummy negation in a big way. Oh, and what a shallow, ridiculous statement to claim a man like Rather needs to 'plea for attention.' How old is the guy who actually said that? That pretty much sums up the caliber of that response.

Official Government sheets show that he was an actual fighter pilot (you can't be dumb to be one of those, and if your dad was trying to keep you out of the line of fire, he would not set you up as a fighter pilot) and was actually either flying or grounded (not a bad thing, just no krders to fly at that time) during the dates he claimed Dubbya was AWOL. Dubbya isn't smart enough to doctor official governement papers, noe does he have enough pull to have someone do it for him. Furthermore, this were TYPED documents, not computerized so any white-out would stick out like a green thum. Have you ever seen any military docs? They're printed on this greenish-grey something of a colour and you just couldn't use white out or an eraser. All the other major media networks conceded that Dubbya WAS flying during those periods; being also very liberal new sites, if what he was saying were true, they would have jumped all over it. But the checked the sources and saw that it was a complete hoax. Rather didn't bother to follow-up on his assitant's review (a big no-no) and should therefore just stop talking and swallow his medicine. If he was right, where was the lawsuit then? Why wait YEARS until people forgot a little????
For a hundred years the mainstream news media have spewed out daily fiction to the American public, with the unchanging intention of spinning the news in a way that disguises inconvenient facts and promotes a sanitized, approved view. It's surprising to see an open quarrel among some of the perpetrators, but nowadays it seems anything goes.

BushSr. was the head of the CIA for years. He was the most connected guy in the U.S. post Presidency. Political parties clean up a candidate before they run them if that's who they've decided to run. It's always a possibility Rather was swift boated, but we'll never know, unless it comes out.
