Dueling Covers! Michael Vs. Farrah

Both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett will be featured on the cover of the September issue of Vanity Fair, with Fawcett gracing half of the covers and Jackson featured on the remaining 50%.
The issue will be hitting newsstands on August 11th, but excerpts from both features have been released to the press. The articles touch on key themes from the two late superstars' lives, pieced together through quotations from friends and old sound bites from the celebs themselves.
Check out what Farrah's friends and family had to say about the late Charlie's Angels star:
Love
About her relationship with longtime companion Ryan O'Neal: "She's always been the real love of his life and he's always been the real love of her life. She never stopped loving him." — BFF Alana StewartFame
About that 1970s' hair: "She said, 'I can't see to the right or left, and that way I don't have to see people looking at me.' " — O'Neal recounting Fawcett's response when he askedCareer
"Careers have to be very carefully plotted, but she was not driven by that singular focus on the next step and the next step." — Leonard Goldberg, who co-produced Charlie's Angels, which Fawcett left after one seasonOdd behavior
On her appearance with David Letterman in which she sounded incoherent: "I was the pothead; she's one of those people who flossed every night and took care of herself. When I saw her on Letterman, I thought she was acting. She was selling Playboy magazine, and she thought she was being Playmate-ish." — O'NealFamily
On O'Neal's "devotion" to Fawcett: "My dad's only goal was to make sure he would be in the will. It was so disgustingly transparent as soon as she found out she was terminal. I consider him a vulture presiding over a carcass." — Griffin O'Neal"I hate him! He knows I have money. I made a tremendous amount of money on real estate, more than I deserve." — Ryan O'Neal's response
And as far as the article about Michael Jackson, it mimics the same content as Farrah's:
Love
"No I don't date, no. I like girls and everything, but [laughs] … Oh, you think I'm one of those? No! I'm just not that interested right now." — Jackson in February 1977Fame
"And a lot of entertainers don't know this, but interviewers help entertainers 100%. I don't mean promotion-wise; I mean like when they ask you questions, it helps you to look at your future yourself." — Jackson in February 1977Career
On the first mix of the Thriller album: "It was terrible. And I cried at the listening party. I said, 'I'm sorry — we can't release this.' … Everybody at the record company was screaming that we had to have it out and there was a deadline. … So we re-did a mix a day. … We were overworked, but it all came out OK." — Jackson in 1984Odd behavior
On his plastic surgeries: "You know, many stars do that, but the press picks on certain people. I think if more people could afford it, they'd do it, too. I see nothing wrong with it. You have to feel good about yourself." — Sister Janet Jackson in October 1986Family
On conflicts with family: "I've always tried to do everything first-class. Use people who are the best. But it was a different story with the family. And the fact that it was the biggest tour that ever happened, and my success had been so overwhelming, it's as if they're wanting to throw darts at you, too." — Michael Jackson in 1984 after the Jacksons' Victory Tour
Who do U think will sell more copies of the mag???
Our $$$$$$'s on MJ!

Ha.. "half of the covers" and "remaining 50%"? Thanks for demonstrating your mathematical savviness Perez.
I find it interesting how people comment about the media attention that Michael Jackson has been receiving, granted that the media attention has been both positive and negative, but nonetheless Michael Jackson was a beloved world icon. If people were so tired of Michael Jackson, why has his albums been dominating the world charts since his death? Obviously this was a man who was more loved than hated.
And by the way I think both covers are gorgeous but I will be buying the MJ issue.
Re: minaahm –
I am one of MJs biggest fans too!! Dont forget me!
lol
Michael Jackson is overrated, a dumbass, a liar, and Farrah deserves way more better than Michael.
I hope him, and all his fans go to the prostetic, transcolored hell like he should be in with all the other freaks.
2 great covers!!
Re: krazyy_katie –
Hm really?
I just think you are silly for thinking such things about such a large group of people.
Prostetic hell, huh?
Youre so nice. So SO nice.
I hope someone kicks your rear with their prostetic leg you ill hearted son of a bia.
Re: minaahm – the saddest day in history?????????….OMG!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!! You really HAVE gone off the deep end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…Do you remember a little thing called 911 or the tsunami that killed THOUSANDS of people or any other horrible event in HISTORY!!!!!!!! This was HARDLY in that category..youre whacked out!!!!!!!!!!. Are you on drugs too???lol YOU are the delusional one!!!!
Re: kissmyassobama – @ 108 - I'm not going back thru all that arguing but if someone really thinks the MJ dying was one of the saddest days in history, it's not worth arguing - you'd probably get a more intelligent thought from the ocean waves that caused Katrina……
Re: kissmyassobama – Listen you punk. It wasnt me doing the survey. Here is the survey. That’s what two University of Vermont researchers have done for an article published recently in The Journal of Happiness Studies. The UVM researchers, computer scientist Chris Danforth and mathematician Peter Dodds, looked at 10 million blog sentences that began “I feel … ” or “I am feeling … .” They scored the words in the sentences, compiled averages, and looked for patterns, or mood swings — over the course of a year, or over the days of the week. They found that the overall average score tended to be relatively high, for example, on Valentine’s Day and on weekends; low on Wednesdays, and on Sept. 11 anniversaries — and the day Michael Jackson died. The day of Michael Jackson's death is DEFINITELY the saddest moment of their research". Another story claims the same thing. One Month Since Michael Jackson's Death: World Still In Shock. Its exactly one month since the shocking news of the death of the King Of Pop made headlines. It was about a month back was rehearsing for his sold out This Is It concerts. For the first time in the history 16000 tickets were sold per second for this concert which Michael Jackson planned to perform at the London's O2 Arena ,promoted and owned by AEG Live. Im NOT like you, just talking shit.. I do have facts to back my claim up! Now beat it
"Fallen King" sure hits it on the "Nose"!
For being someone who was so great he ended up dying a pathetic, deformed, dope addict. So sad.
"Also forgot to mention that HMV has claimed that sales of Michael Jackson's music have outstripped the demand for material by Elvis Presley and John Lennon following their untimely deaths. Simon Fox, the chief executive of HMV, said that sales of Michael Jackson albums have multiplied by 80 times. Mr Fox today claimed that the recent surge in demand for CDs surpassed that following Presley's death in 1977 and Lennon's assassination in 1980."And they didnt even have DIGITAL downloads back then. I guess nobody cares, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!
Re: kissmyassobama – Unlike you. I have facts/information to back my claims. Im not saying that (though I agree).. it was two University of Vermont researchers that determined that you PUNK! The day of Michael Jackson's death is DEFINITELY the saddest moment of their research.".. Now, go and cry!
Re: kissmyassobama – Here's another article. "One Month Since Michael Jackson's Death: World Still In Shock. People from all over the world started to flood on the internet , for first time in decades ,the internet crashed ,many sites flooded with millions of message, friends, celebrities ,everybody starts writing about their personal experience with the star."
Why should it matter who sells the most covers?!?!? Both were very good entertainers and to use their deaths as a profit making business horse race is sickening in my opinion.
Re: kissmyassobama – Even your hero is defending Michael Jackson. He lent his support to Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson as they fought to stem the tide of lies. "We don't know anything yet. We don't know diddlysquat yet," Limbaugh told listeners on June 29. Later in the show he rebuked a caller who said he thought Jackson was a child molester:
"You're no different than the media! He was acquitted. I'm going to tell you something about Michael Jackson. We haven't talked about this. But he was acquitted of that charge… So if you're out there saying, "I'm still convinced he's a child molester," you're no different than the media lying about what was in the autopsy report, lying about all the drugs he was supposedly taking, lying about this and that. We don't know diddly-squat yet… This guy's talent was incomparable! We build 'em up and we tear 'em down in this culture, and it's wrong. I'll tell you, it's the first time in my life… The media in this situation has been so bad they're making Al Sharpton look credible. They're making the Justice Brothers look like they have a reasonable reason to intervene here. That's how bad it's gotten."
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – Why dont you even BOTHER to read or look up facts. Its not fans saying it was the saddest day in history (although we agree
). It was two University of Vermont researchers that determined that. The day of Michael Jackson's death is DEFINITELY the saddest moment of their research."
urgh, two peoples death isnt a competition! if i get one it will be the michael jackson because i am a fan of his music
Re: minaahm – @ 117 - i don't care
no taking anything from farrah , but i didnt even know who she was until she passed away saddly . but of course MJ will outsell anybody right now !
Team MJ !
farrah fawcett was only known in the US. Mj the WORLDDDD
Team MJ !
I just don't get it… what did Farrah really do to deserve this kind of praise? She was a mediocre actress at best - she only made one good movie… in 1984!!! She was barely visible after that. She might have been a nice person, but she wasn't a saint. Neither was Michael, but his impact on the world was a millions times more than Farrah's.
Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – idiot its double sided so you'll only be buying one , with BOTH there faces on it haha
Tick Tock… please blow it out your ass already. What is your hard on for MJ anyway? You only come to the MJ articles so you can post something inflammatory that will cause people to respond to you… because you're so fucking desperate for human contact. You're a sad little troll.
So we have two covers, one for a classy woman and one for a degenerate pedophile. People are getting sick of the Jackoff Jackson crap that is being plastered all over the publishing industry.
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – fair enough man. just wanted to define and make it clear that it was a report by two researchers and not something out of the blue.. nothing more =)
Those are BEAUTIFUL covers. Which ever one gets more sales, either way both issues will be powerful!
Re: kellyy0 – pedophiles dont always insert the kids. I believe he invited them in the bed for masturbation material.
Re: minaahm – If you think that freak has the BEST music in the world…you don't know ANYTHING about REAL music..bubblegum lover.
Re: minaahm – I have always hated the freak asshole….You worship the freak…lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: hardcandyshell – I just think that worshipping a dead pedophile is wrong. Crazy right?
Re: minaahm – We all know YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR FREAKIN MINDDDDDDDDD….MJ was a sick fuck.
who has gotten the most press? mj. so probably that cover. it is the one i would buy too, but i try to limit that now a days. it is hard though. it was easier when he was alive. then i somehow didnt feel the need to have every picture of him, especially if it was a good one (like the one on this vf cover). now there wont be that many new pictures, and my feelings crave all beauty i can get. but still.
Re: krazyy_katie – YEP!! FARRAH WAS BRAVE AS HELL AND SUFFERED THROUGH A HORRIBLE END WITH CANCER…DUMBASS jACKSON PUSHED THE NEEDLE TOO HARD AND O.D.'D…HARDLY A SAD STORY.
Re: minaahm – you can praise the freak til doomsday….I dont give two shits what all your articles quote!! The dude was a drug addict..he hated himself and showed it by mutilating his skin and face..he had a fetish for young boys enough that he had to have one in his bed at 50 years old. Thats sick. His music wasnt all that anyway. Bubblegum at best.
I HATE LOW CLASS PEOPLE.They are also stupid beyond belief and probably don't have a mirror at home.
michael was hoooottt!!!!
rip mj and ff
I love u Michael…:(
I would by Michael's over hers. I don't even know her haha. But i think mj's will sell more
Are you seriously gonna have a discussion about this? Retarded.
Re: MJ fan59 – Agree.
Re: fiercekitty09 – Yes, Michael is awesome.
Re: gdeeaz – Yeah a double cover would have been a good idea.
Re: kumbyah – Whassup bebe.
Re: Paris France – Hey sweetheart.
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – I REALLY can't stand you. And I really don't understand what these other peep's bloggin on here see in you. You're a hateful bitch who is obsessed with RPatz and you are in desperate need of freind's. And stop tryin to talk to LONG DONG, he has NO TIME for idiotic creeton's like you.
Re: Hate Low Class People – You call a fucking drug addict whore a CLASSY woman?? Of course you're a fuckin white trash republican.
Re: kissmyassobama – "who said he went to heaven??????????????"
Of course Michael went to heaven. This statement coming from such an evil person. You would have definitely let us know if he was in the place where you dwell at night….
Re: dogmama – i agree !
Re: dogmama – you told a very big truth and something very obvious.
you are absolutely right
that Farrah pic is so good, I think both are cool, but I'll go with Farrah's one
Re: MJ fan59 – How do you know where he ended up?? Maybe God said..no, you died by your own stupidity, I didnt want you yet!..get out! lol
Michael Jackson forever.
Mj is gonna live on through the fans and just as well through the haters ! Long live king of pop !
FARRAH
For me Both!
Re: kissmyassobama – Michael is in heaven, a place where you will never be if you keep questioning things of that nature. Repent you heathen. You should be more worried about where your going to wind up….
farrah looks pretty but michael looks gorgeous on the the cover, this is a really nice picture
Re: MJ fan59 – HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! iF WHACKO MADE IT IN…PRETTY MUCH everyone WILL !!!
Re: pinkchik – HE LOOKS LIKE THE WOMAN HE WAS!! LMAO!
I think he was trying to turn into Sandra Bullock!! lmao..look carefully…he was so feminine and all ….
Re: pinkchik – gorgeous?? Well if you think a pig/peter pan nose is attractive and a fake chin dimple ,eyeliner, eyelashes and lipstick on a dude is PRETTY..I guess maybe.
How can you compare Farrah Fawcet to MJ? MJ was an international superstar with the biggest selling album and music video of all time, 1st artist to have a song debut at #1 on the billboard charts and is the 2nd best selling solo artist of all time (Elvis is first) and…. Farrah was on 1 season of Charlies Angels and playboy. Give me a break!
Re: tick_tock_tick_tock –
Actually only two boys accused him of pedophilia and the first boy's mother said he was lying in 1994 and Rabbi Eli Schmoli who knew the second boy and his mother said they were lying and that they had accused tried to get money from other celebrities , how many pedaphiles only molest 2 children? Zero, and if everyone agrees with you then why was MJ's death the top story in almost every country in the world? Why is he the 2nd best selling solo artist of all time (#1 is Elvis), why did 1billion people worldwide watch the funeral? Bitterness and jealousy doesn't look good on anybody!
I will get the Farrah cover. She has the iconic blonde and blue-eyed beauty.
I was miffed that she got less attention than MJ. True, MJ was a bigger international star. But his music was off the radar for years and he had become a recluse. He also looked frail, so I was surprised the media found his passing so shocking. And his coverage has been saturated.
But they are both icons and both deserving.
Re: minaahm – UM, EXCUSE ME, BUT FARRAH WAS NOT ON DRUGS, Just because Ryan or her son were/are is not the case with FARRAH…. and lets get this correct, MJ was on drugs because he was a DRUG ADDICT !!! He started because of need, but it turned into and ADDICTION - DEPENDENCY !!! MAKING HIM A DRUG ADDICT………. LETS BE CLEAR HERE. AND AGAIN, FARRAH WAS NOT ON DRUGS FOR ANY ADDICTION PROBLEMS, she is not Ryan or her son !!!! Unless you believe in quilt by association , then its safe to say everyone in the world has the possiblity of that!!!!!!! And to clear another thing up, my comment regarding MJ was based on FACTS, well know written FACTS, and i did not downplay his ICON status, i pointed out his untimely death has caused MAJOR media interest - THATS ALL. I cant not change the fact he was addicted to drugs……… nor can i change the facts of MANY other allegations.
Re: dogmama – LETS SEE, FACT #1 -she was one the MOST PHOTOGRAPHED PEOPLE IN THE WORLD IN THE 70'S, which as well makes her known WORLD WIDE , FACT #2 - HER POSTER IS THE #1 SELLING POSTER OF ALL TIME, FACT #3- SHE CHANGED THE LAWS FOR BATTERED WOMEN THRU HER WORK FOR THEM, FACT #4- SHE WAS NOMINATED FOR 3 EMMYS,FACT #5- ONLY 1 SEASON ON A TV SHOW IN THE 76/77 SEASON AND SHE IS STILL TALKED ABOUT, FACT #6 - Her image was shot up to space for its iconic stature for later generations to discover !!! Should i go on?????? I am a huge fan and thats the tip of her impact on our society !!! Let me say what she also not known for….. allegedly not sleeping with children, being gay, being a drug addict, hating herself, claiming kids are hers - but really arent…… just a few things she is not known for, HOWS THAT?
Re: raymFF – dude she was on a freaking poster . i mean would most ppl rather listen to music or sit and look at a poster all day ? dont get me wrong she looked beautiful on it but lets be realistic. and your claims about mj being gay etc. are ALL claims ! him sleeping with kids was totally untrue cause the boys even fessed up to saying they needed money . come on now tabloid junkie get real and stop believin TheSun . and legally those kids are his .
Re: kelli94 – Darling, i used the word ALLEGEDLY !!!! And it wasnt just a poster, it was the #1 selling poster of ALL TIME, still to this day……… and i am not down playing MJ's icon status at all, his music is incredible - but his life is FILLED with MANY MANY ALLEGATIONS !!!!!!! And his DRUG ADDICTION IS NOT AN ALLEGATION, ITS FACT !
Re: kissmyassobama – You are a fool, you prove it with every post. You asked me about the saddest day in history and cracked some jokes and I gave you the FACTS from the report.. now you dismiss it. LOL.. you can dismiss it, but its FACTS from a research
And this shows that the majority LOVED this man.. havnt you notices, its only you and tick_tock making constant remarks about him. Lol.. pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: kelli94 – DARLING, i said allegations ! AND FARRAH'S POSTER IS THE #1 SELLING POSTER OF ALL TIME !!! Still today no-one has out sold her poster !
I am not down playing his icon status…….. but hello, he was ADDICTED TO DRUGS ! KNOWN FACT……. PROVEN !
Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – Buhu.. it lookes like you know all the deal. Where you a fly on the wall perhaps? Gimme a break. Get me the facts/evidence asap or just shut it. Your call. But I know you wont do it.. because you havnt studied the courtdocuments or the evidence at all… thats why the only thing you can say is that he was a P, but you have NO facts to back up ypur claims.
Re: raymFF – its still a poster in my eyes . i mean im not "down playing" her poster but the music mj made had a way bigger impact on ppls lives than a poster . like i said she looks stunning in it but i dont understand how they can be compared there in two whole different categories of entertainment , and till today no one has sold more albums then thriller . ok the drug stuff is out now im not going against that if he had a drug problem that was his problem .
oh yea and why is this a michael vs farrah thing ? its nothing good about two icons dieing in one day . of anything everyone should be sad . perez this is not a good look on your part !
Re: kissmyassobama – "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! iF WHACKO MADE IT IN…PRETTY MUCH everyone WILL !!!"
But when you pass away NO one is going to care….. But you are constantly showing how much you care about Michael. With every new post by you, your love comes shining thru more and more.
Re: tick_tock_tick_tock – shut the hell up woman.
Re: kelli94 – Its a ICONIC POSTER, THAT CHANGED THE WAY THINGS ARE LOOKED AT….. i mean hello, it was sent into SPACE for future generations to discover !! That alone says something about her PLACE in our world. I agree there is no reason to have dual covers or who will sell better, I am just pointing out to everyone, that FARRAH as well is a ICON in her own right for MANY MANY reasons ! people seem to forget this, or want to down play it to MJ's record sales……. they are different icons who happened to pass on the same day, both tragic, but 1 we knew was coming and the other sudden to due drug addiction/overdose. ALL I AM TRYING TO SAY IS FARRAH FAWCETT IS/WAS A ICON who had a major impact to our society for reasons some of you might not even realize !
Re: raymFF – yea i agree she was iconic but some ppl will argue that all she did was pose for a poster and be a sex symbol . there deaths were very much tragic but thanks for letting me know her accomplishments to cause i really didnt know much about her .
Re: raymFF – This is exactly what Perez wanted people to do; compare Farrah and Michael and that is horrible. Both of them were loved by their fans. It is the fans choice regarding which magazine to buy, I'm sure many fans will be getting both magazines. Both figures were Iconic, Farrah did an Iconic poster that you say changed the way things were looked at and Michael Jackson released Iconic music, dance, and clothing styles that changed pop culture well music period. He also pathed the way for African Americans to be looked at positively across the world. I don't know that much about Farrah so I'm sure she probably did alot more wonderful things beside's that iconic postar, but I know for sure that Michael not only gave his heart, but he also gave his money to helping people all around the world. Farrah probably did too. Both are loved, and both are missed so that's all that matters.
Re: MJ fan59 – I dont give a fuck if ANYONE cares when I die!!..I wont know..at least I wont die a freak like MJ did!! Yeah I love him sooooooooooo much!! I wish he was still here!! bwahahahahaha..so I could make even MORE fun of the weirdo!!hahahahaha~
Re: MJ fan59 – Agreed, and yes , FARRAH WAS DEVOTED to the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY since the 70's and was active in donations thru-out her life ! She as well, help to change laws for battered women !!! She was very generous with her money and her TIME privately to her causes !!! SHE WAS WAY more than a ICONIC POSTER image, i comment on it because people seem to know that most about her, and yes, it is a major accomplishment to sell as many posters as she did, i guess its the same for MJ's music……. SO THEY BOTH are ICONS for their own reasons, i just want her to be acknowledged for her impact on us as all you MJ fans do with him ! The fact that VANITY FAIR is doing this ALONE is reason to understand her importance not to ignore or downplay it !
Re: dogmama – Yeah he showed everyone how to croak at 50 by drug abuse!! That was his biggest contribution to you kiddies..Its a no no ..:)
Re: kelli94 – Welcome !!!! She was an AMAZING woman - SO GENEROUS to what she believed in, and WAS SO WONDERFUL to her fans ! I was lucky to have met her MANY times over the years, and she was ALWAYS so sweet and nice to me !
Re: kissmyassobama – "at least I wont die a freak like MJ did!! Yeah I love him sooooooooooo much!! I wish he was still here!! bwahahahahaha..so I could make even MORE fun of the weirdo"
No one know's whether or not your a freak b/c no one can see who you really are via the internet, but your outburst sure don't paint you as a sane person. And you say you wish he was still here so you can make fun of him more, you say that but where were you when he was still here?? but remember right after he passed you were speaking very highly of him. Why such a change of heart hater?
Re: raymFF – you met her forreal ? ! thats awesome ! she looks like she was really nice and normal . but her family ( ryan and griffin ) not so much
Re: kissmyassobama – so at one point of time you were a mj fan ?
Re: kelli94 – yes he was!!! all you have to do is go back to the posts on here from june 25th and you will see various comments from this kissmyassobama.. saying he ALWAYS liked mike, such a shame he has died, and that if we are ever feeling sad all we have to do is go on youtube where we can find years and years of great entertainment from mj…
also he was VERY quick to respond to the haters accusing mike of molesting boys, go take a look, its all there, he has since changed his avater but we all know its still him…
he tried to say it was someone else using the same pc, but the spelling is just the same, so is the lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng words!! and strangly enough, this mysterious mj fan hasnt been on his pc since!!
Re: MJ ROCKS!!! – lol. Yeah where is that mysterious hacker who got into his computer and said all those nice things about Michael. Come on a 5 year old would have come up with that same lie.
Re: kissmyassobama – at least I wont die a freak like MJ did!!
…
are you sure about that? because you sure sound a tad fucked up!!
Re: MJ fan59 – lmao!! he knows we know… thats why he always chooses to ignore it when i bring it up!
what a pratt!!
Re: MJ ROCKS!!! – when WE bring it up i meant to say
Recently there have a news said that the truth of MJ'S death is the doctor make bold to injection a medicine. Can it be true?
Re: MJ ROCKS!!! – wow kissmyassobama is a loser i saw them ! how can you go from liking him to totally shooting him down ? what did michael ever do to him to hate him ?
Ryan O'Neal gave Farrah the HPV virus which is what caused her anal cancer and death…why was this post deleted?????
I don't think it should be a competition. I like them both, and I will probably buy both of their covers.
MJ WILL SELL FASTER.
I want to buy the Michael one…and will whenever it arrives on newstands here in Canada. I think they could have used a happier photo of Michael though- Farrah looks beautiful and happy on her cover while Michael looks loney and sad (beautiful too…but also sad) - Both stars were taken far too soon and I hope they are both at peace in Heaven. Farrah was an inspiration to many battling cancer and Michael was an inpisration to those in the music owrld. Both were beautiful people and should be rembered as such!
MJ of course!!! but at least they are putting farrah on too. she was also special…
