Even Spielberg Has Resorted To Remakes

When Steven Spielberg gives up on making original movies, you know Hollywood is on the decline. We'll argue, though, in the case of Steven and his team, he is sure to bring a very distinct and original take on the classic film he intends to remake.

Reports have come in that the acclaimed Hollywood director will oversee the remake of Harvey, an iconic Jimmy Stewart film about a man that befriend an invisible six-foot rabbit named Harvey. As of now, the production is slated for 2010 and some big names are being thrown around for the lead, like Tom Hanks and Will Smith.

This will be considered the first flick done by Dreamworks after losing it's partnership with Paramount.

We have our doubts about this, but also some optimism. How badly can it turn out with Spielberg at the helm?

What do U think?

Hey Fucknuts! The cast of "Wizard of Oz" needs you on set and don't forget your lollipop! Maybe you should shave your head and start all over. And please don't do the Flock of Seagals look. Maybe if you put more sperm in it, you might get noticed.

Okay Harvey was a cute film in its time ….. 1950 ! Spielberg wants to make a 60 year old film … great and with someone like Will Smith using every exaggerated expression he can think of. Next up A Streetcar Named Desire ….

      LEAVE MY HARVEY ALONE!!!!!
      shoot, that doesn't sound right!
as good as Tom & Will are- they're not Jimmy.
Why doesn't he remake North by Northwest or Mr. Smith Goes To Washington,
not that they should be touched either but I think they would appeal to todays audiences more.

oh my God this pisses me off

'Harvey' is a classic, I saw it for the first time a few months ago and it's still freaking perfect and stands the test of time. UNNECESSARY REMAKE! And it's almost blasphemous to me that they'd think of getting Will Smith to play that role. Or anybody for that matter.

please please God I hope they don't make this movie. It is like remaking Mr. Smith Goes to Washington or Streetcar, which would also be blasphemous.

PEZ: I think YOU tell the same stories every single day and people continue to come back …. so I'm thinking there's a market for telling the same old stories with a current edge…. don't you??

He's also going to be remaking the Korean movie Oldboy.

    17. 17

I think he needs to stop dicking around with stupid new plots and make his current projects come out faster. *CoughTINTINcough*

    18. 18

Will Somebody please make The Talisman into a movie already????

    19. 19

      Donnie Darko

    20. 20

Idiot, Spielberg did a remake 20 years ago of "A Guy Named Joe" and it was called "Always."
Do some fucking research once in awhile.

    21. 21

If he can't resurrect James Stewart to play the part of Elwood P. Dowd, he should just can it.
Btw, Ward of the Worlds was a remake. Didn't he direct that one? I could have lived without that.

    22. 22

Truthfully, I scented he was on the decline when he allowed Tom Cruise to be in Minority Report. He's not exactly a quality actor. His career is built entirely on his looks!

    23. 23

      NOOOOO…..THE QUESTION IS…

HOW BAD WILL IT BE FOR HIM IF HE ACTUALLY CASTS BORING 'BRING THE SAME CHARACTER EVERYTIME' SMITH OR HANKS???

TIME TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX…OF COOKIE CUTTER SO CALLED ACTORS!!!

NOW WHAT IS THAT KID WHO DID 'EMPIRE OF THE SUN' UP TO???
      HMMM.

my favourite movie and no one could possibly play Elwood! perhaps Edward Norton or Ryan Gosling but NOT eager to see anyone less, including all the so-called actor/comedians…

    26. 26

Harvey was my fathers all-time favorite movie. My dad just passed away a month ago so this just makes me sick to my stomach. i don't know if it is because Spielberg will undoubtably ruin it or that my dad will never get to see it. Plans for tonight: cry myself to sleep.

Re: Nomi – Fuck! i thought Tarintino was going to do that one. Fuck!

Tom Hanks would be good casting for this role… I would love to see Kathy bates play the crazy sister

    29. 29

Hollywood writers have run out of story ideas. they only know how to make remakes, so sad !
