Idol Judge Fired!!!!

You totally thought this post was going to be about Paula Abdul, didn't you? Sorry to disappoint, but this Idol story actually takes place down under.

Australian Idol judge Kyle Sandilands has been canned from the gig for not upholding a "family-friendly" persona. Like the Ryan Seacrest of the outback, Kyle splits his time between judging on the show and working as a DJ. He made headlines this past week with his show, in which he interviewed a 14 year old girl about her sexual history while she was attached to a lie detector machine.

In an awful and alarming turn of events, the girl admitted to being raped at the age of 12!

Horrible!

In light of the incident, the network just didn't feel comfortable keeping him on staff, as his radio gig conflicts with the atmosphere of the show. Network exec, David Mott, released a statement saying:

"We thank Kyle for his contribution to Australian Idol over the last four years. But it has become increasingly clear that as Idol has remained a family-focused show, even more so this year with the 6.30pm Sunday time slot, his radio persona has taken on a more controversial position over this period which is not in the interest of the show."

To add insult to injury, Kyle may also lose his radio show because of this unfortunate on-air revelation, but for the time being, no one from the station is saying they will let him go. For now, he is simply on hiatus, allowing enough time for things to blow over.

Sucks to be this guy. Take notes, Ryan! Save yourself from the same fate!

i really dont ever see ryan lie detecting a 14 year old about sex….and big ? here, where the fuck were her parents and why did they let this happen??

    2. 2

This is OLD news. This website has really lost it.

    3. 3

Weird…why would a 14 year old who was raped 2 years earlier go on a radio show to discuss her sex life on a lie detector machine..? Where were her parents? Sounds weird/fishy to me

    4. 4

why would a grown man be asking a little girl about anything involving sex?? agree w/ majesty….where the fuck were her parents?

Her mum was there, she took her there cause the girl was being a handfull to say the least so mum wanted to know what she was up to! Well, in a very sad turn of events, the girl admitted to being raped at age 12 and stupid Kyle said " so, was that your only experience?" In his defence, he was shocked and didn't know what to say but he could have used better words or had a 7 second delay button to push!! What was mum thinking???

    6. 6

well, hes done pretty well for himself, i think hes got enough cash to not need idol. dont like him that much myself, he can come across as rascist though, theyve always let him get away with alot of stuff, i mean refering to an asian contestant as "karate kid" , and making fun of peoples accents if they sound ethnic on the radio sure wouldnt fly over here. dont think he'll loose his job at the radio station, both him and Jackie o are way to popular for that.
the one thats really to blame is the girls mother, who had known about her being raped and still set her up to go on the show to be asked about her sexual history, now what kind of a mother does that?? sick…

    7. 7

Kyle is a fckng homophobic closed minded upper class snob who never had enough personality for idol OR radio. He embarasses me as an Australian. I read about how this girl admitted she was raped and then Kyle went on to ask is that your only experience? What a complete bastard.

    8. 8

so mario - how much are u being paid to advertise for that shitty movie??

    9. 9

did the girl's MOM ask her if shed had sex before? and then the girl said she was raped? i dont think HE asked her
      this is OLD news though

    10. 10

that is horrible!why the hell wud he do that?that poor girl. nd wat the hell about her mom puttin her on there!thats bad parentin to say the least!

Mario loves 14 year old boys thats why!!!!Re: RobPnMeShouldB

    13. 13

He is a vile human being, this is just one of the tasteless stunts he's pulled. He doesn't have a shred of intelligance or morality. Thank goodness he was fired, hopefully we will never have to hear from this douchebag again.

Her mother was on the show, she sounded like a complete dickhead. Poor girl.

    14. 14

He's an asshole, he's always been like that. I remember when Dean Geyer was on it, and he kept saying things like "I know you've never actually had sex, just pretend like you have, sex it up!"

    15. 15

This is appalling and offensive - on so many levels. I think all parties involved should be sentenced to an eternity of psychotherapy.

    16. 16

Any other Australian who responds to this in a negative way - as in Kyle deserved this - clearly has not read or heard the radio interview in question. There really does need to be a license for people to be ALLOWED to have children, and this girls Mother should have hers revoked. The mother knew about the incident, and yet forced the girl to undergo the lie detector test. Perhaps working on her mother/daughter bond would have served in their best interest to uncover what other "sexual experiences"' the young girl had had (as indicated was the reason by the mother for the lie detector test in the first place). Agreed rules & regulations need to be looked into and outlined as to what is the radio hosts responsibility and what is appropriate, but you are talking about someones livelihood! Australia is well known for its Tall Poppy Syndrome - case in point…………… LOVE YOU PEREZ!!!xx

    17. 17

on a separate note - KUDOS to you for actually reporting on this correctly, unlike Australian media!!!

      Aussie living in Singapore

    18. 18

I'd like to make a correction to this article - Kyle Sandilands is NOT a DJ. He is a radio announcer (a shock jock, if you will). Kyle wouldn't know talent if it bit him on the ass. I don't understand why the Idol producers hired him to judge talent. And with the show starting its new season next week, who are they going to replace him with?

    19. 19

he was a douch in the first place. i feel sorry for the girl but,, it was her mum's idea about the questioning with a lie detector, i do think it was either kyle or jackie-o's fault that is came out over radio. australian idol is stupid. even stuipeder than american idol. i cant stand it. kyle kinda brings shame to australia. dis-owned.

    20. 20

Well… brace yourself Americans!! Rumour here has it that Vile Kyle is set to try his foul mouth in the states.. I certainly hope everyone rallies against him.. he's an awful, vile human being. Good Luck America!!

    21. 21

That is gross! I agree with Majesty-where were this girls parents?

    22. 22

The bigger issue: where are this poor girl's parents?
      .
He deserves to be kicked to the curb for asking a minor sexual questions.

    23. 23

A lie detector only works if it bothers people to lie. It doesn't prove anything. This girl's mom is the reason why she has problems. Why would you put a 14 year old under exhibition like that? Both of them need to go for therapy.

    24. 24

THE MOTHER is at fault here and Kyle is just the one who get's all the shit from the fallout. The mother asked the question knowing full well what the answer was. Despite Kyle's ill-chosen words, I can completely understand that reaction coming from a man. His job as a DJ is to keep the show flowing and in an awkward moment, he chose to just kind flow over it. I'm sorry, but if you fully well know that your daughter had just admitted a few months ago to being raped at the age of 12, why the hell would you subject your CHILD to this situation???

    25. 25

      Re: pookado
God I hope so! Can he replace Paula and Kara on American Idol??? That'd be fantastic! It's not like these women ever contribute anything at all anyway. (And yes, I am female myself… my issue is with Judges who provide nothing at all to the show.)

So it's just Marcia & Dicko now? It's really going to falter without Kyle. I hope it lasts another season after this.

    26. 26

      bahahahah
this guy is the biggest wanker since russel crowe

he thinks he the howard stern of australia when he's just a moronic nobody

oh and the MOTHER WAS THERE ASKING THE QUESTIONS!
      this was seriously fucked up

    27. 27

Very shady! Where were the parents.

    28. 28

A couple of you have asked where her parents were. Her mother was there on the show she was the one asking the questions and when the mother asked the question if she had had sex the girl answered "I've already told you this don't look at me and smile and make me say it on radio" or something like that.
By the way Kyle is not like the australian ryan seacrest he's more the mean judge like Simon.

    29. 29

THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT!! Kyle an Jackie O didn't even know about the rape and the girl's MOTHER was there during the entire thing and SHE knew about it before!! SO BLAME THE GIRL'S MOTHER!!

      30

i agree with everyones comments… however i believe the bottom line is what business does a radio station or anyone for that matter, have questioning a minor about sex? This is the disgusting part of it all and i can't believe better judgement on the part of the hosts allowed this to go ahead.

    31. 31

Seriously, why is the mum not receiving more backlash on this? its just typical of Australian media to cut down successful people - its like they wait for someone to fall from grace so they can report on it!

    32. 32

What happens to these on-air radio or TV people who do such incredibly stupid things that ruin their careers and potentially their lives?? What made this person think asking an underage girls about her sexual history, on or off the air, okay?? Did he wake up that day and say "Today I'm gonna fuck my life up for good!"?? There are certain lines that are very well marked and should never be crossed. And as for the girls mother… she was in the friggin studio for the whole thing and KNEW her daughter had been raped at age 12! I hear the Australian version of children services is looking into the situation as well.

    33. 33

argh this story drives me crazy, its on tv everyday! all the tv programs play the recording and alter it so it sounds like kyle is being a jerk about the whole thing. her mum asked her the question on live radio (knowing about the rape), the radio show had no idea about it! so now the radio program and Kyle and other host Jackie O are getting the blame for it, when really this mother is the one who dragged her to the show and wanted to ask her 14 yr old about her sex life on radio!

    35. 35

lol this is all on the news down here :P but mannn he hell deserves it because hes the biggest DOUCHE!! everyone hates him. and their radio show is just stupid!

    36. 36

The mother is the fucking bitch here, she's the one who made her daughter go on the show.

    37. 37

Her mother was actually the one asking the questions and she knew her daughter had been raped.
I don't like him and he is a asshole but I don't think this is entirely his fault.

    38. 38

Perez, you didn't explain the whole story. HER MUM brought the girl onto the show and asked her about her sex life, knowing that she had been raped. After admitting she was raped, Kyle's reply was "So… was that your only sexual experience?" Not only did he come across as insensitive, but it's also creepy to be asking a fourteen-year-old about her 'sexual experiences' in the first place. Those who are familiar with Kyle know that he's a massive douche. IMO, it's about time he got sacked.

    41. 41

i lovee kyles radio show (i live in sydney) this whole situatuion has been blown out of proportion. it was her mothers idea to be hooked up to the lie detector her mother knew about her daughter being raped but she still insited that kyle ask if she had sex before. so its all the mothers fault.

    42. 42

Re: BeNiceYall – the girls mother was present and even knew about the rape but she was worried that she was going around having sex anyway and still had them ask the questions.. wat a horrible parent

      43

      disgusting… stay in Australia

    44. 44

why does perez not mention anything about her mother. her mother was the one that strapped her into the lie detector, not kyle. sure he asked a stupid question, but it was no where near bad enough for him to be fired from one soon to be both his jobs.

    45. 45

Her parents were there. The girl did not give consent to be quesitoned and expressed her fear about the situation, which Kyle and the other host laughed at and exploited. It is altogether inappropriate to be questioning a young, underage girl about her sex life (and I guess sex with older men, which may be technically statuatory rape), against her will and strapped to a machine, for public entertainment. They should both be fired for this alone. Then when the girl admitted to having been raped, Kyle continued to question her (have you had sex any other times?) without a beat. Kyle deserves to be fired.

    46. 46

The mother was the one who asked her daughter the question. The mother knew about the rape and still thought it was OK to ask. Much as I dislike Kyle, it's the mother who should be taking the heat for this. I feel really sorry for the girl who has a mother like this.
