Hooray!!!
Laura Ling and Euna Lee, the American journalists detained in North Korean, have finally been pardoned by leader Kim Jong Il.
The release was announced during a visit by Bill Clinton, who traveled to Pyongyang hoping to secure the freedom of both reporters.
The journalists were sentenced in June to 12 years of hard labor for illegal entry into North Korea and engaging in "hostile acts."
Lee has a 4-year-old daughter and husband at home whereas Ling is also married and sister to fellow journalist, Lisa Ling.
We're so lucky to have them back!

Perez screws up for the millionth time. No news outlets (as of 1:07pm PDT) are saying they've been RELEASED but instead PARDONED. Sure, they're going to be released but idiot-head Perez reads "pardoned" on some site and thinks it's the same as "released." The level of incompetence on this site knows no bounds. Sheesh.

Seoul was just a tad too close for my comfort zone knowing how insane the North is politically. Get these women home and Bill safely out then party. And remember all those in other countries being held the same way. Keep them alive too.
I only wonder at what cost this is to the U.S. I also wonder what REALLY those girls were up to.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of this news. Illegal entry to N. Korea is like the news says…ILLEGAL! So these 2 women being released is a bit ridiculous! My aunt's (by marriage) grandfather died in a labour camp cause he accidentally crossed over without knowing and was held in camp for life. No president, no celebrity, or other "famous" person went to see if he could be released. there are millions of people in camps all across N.Korea but no one goes to see if they can be released. So these 2 women get released because a former pres goes to see if he has any influence in their release??? That's not fair! They went in and got caught…they knew they weren't suppose to be there but still they went!! I don't think they should be released just that easy!

Good for Clinton . . . It appears that a few posters forgot (or never knew!) anything about the time when Jesse Jackson went to Belgrade to seek the release of three American POWs in 1999. Clinton administration officials tried to discourage the trip, but Jackson went and was successful.
