Perez, what would you prefer? McCain and the tundra princess? Look at everything that's been going on! Economy is in the shitter, two wars, helath care, unemployment is sky rocketing, etc… While I am all for gay marriage, I can also see how it's not that high on the agenda. Also, how many states have legalized gay marriage since he's been in office? Not to mention the fact that he's been in office less than a year. Are you aware that he hasn't cured cancer and AIDS yet either?

Seriously, he has only been president for six or seven months. You can't change everything that quickly, give the guy a chance. And while I hope he does help the gay/lesbian community obtain the equal rights they deserve, at the moment it is not the most pressing need this country has. We have a lot of very large problems that need to be worked on before we can tackle other issues.
It looks like some people forgot their over prescribed meds…..give the guy a year at least. You can't change the majority of the peoples' feelings on this issue overnight…. I hope when you guys are allowed to legally marry you're more patient than this, if not lets see how long those non-traditional marriages last.

Personally, I am all for gay marriage, but Obama has NEVER claimed to believe in gay marriage. In fact, during the campaign Obama said that gay marriage was the one issue that he and John McCain agreed on. He has always been against gay marriage.
Why did it come as a shock that he isn't going to support gays. He made it clear during the election. He went to a church for 20 years that preached hate against every group…including gays, and he sat and listened to the hate. What makes gay people think he's going to do anything for them? I think it's sad that gays vote for a dem just because they think that's the "yes" party for gay rights when clearly it isn't.
Meghan McCain has done more for gays than Obama probably will. She speaks out about gay rights and is all for it and goes around talking to groups etc. I see more bias against gays coming from within the liberal party than I do the other way around. I'm republican, I'm all for gay rights. You just picked the wrong guy to further your cause. I hope some of you gay people will support people like Meghan who DO speak out on your behalf even tho she considers herself a republican, at least she's lending a voice of support in your direction.

It annoys me to hear so many people say "he has other priorities." Yes. He does. And Lyndon Johnson had a couple little problems called the cold war with the russians and the Vietnam war (remember them?), yet he still managed to make civil rights a major priority, enhanced voting rights and sought the end of desegregation from very early on in his presidency..and he was from the SOUTH. When you are president and you see injustice done, you take action even if you don't fully complete the task. Obama has done near zero and offers no estimate of when he will do anything and what he will do. And -news flash- this is NOT all just about marriage (which is big enough) it's also many thousands of honorably-serving GLBT military who are being denied opportunity to serve because of DADT (which BO could nix almost single-handedly) and it's about employment and housing rights. Most don't know this but any GLBT person in America can be fired or evicted on the basis that his/her boss or landlord disapproves of his/her lifestyle. I think THAT is important. Maybe not to ALL of you, but when even one minority is denied equality, America is something less than it professes to be.

I'm an advocate of gay rights, but I watched the BIDEN-PALIN debate, and when the gay marriage issue came up I remembered Joe Biden saying that there was nothing to debate about because he and Obama both agreed with Mccain and Palin's stance on the issue.
