Merv Griffin's Son Is Suing

Filed under: TV News > Business Blitz

wenn-merve.jpg

There is a wheel of fortunes being squandered over at Merv Griffin Entertainment and The Griffin Group. And Tony Griffin, Merv Griffin's son, is pissed about it!

Tony is taking the executors of the company to court claiming that they have been mismanaging his father's empire and wasting parts of Merv's millions by engaging in "speculative ventures with funds which belong to the Trust."

It was rumored that at the time of his death, Merv Griffin was worth somewhere close to a billion bucks! But due to the economy and such, the estimated value of Merv's estate is actually in excess of $50 million and includes everything from yachts and houses to his many TV franchises.

But Tony says the people running the business are squandering millions and he wants to put an end to it.

As far as we can tell, it's really his attempt to make as much money out of the business as he can. He's already given $2 million a year in allowance and if the business should be served up to the masses, he gets 60% after obligations are paid out.

The more money in the company, the more he will get later on.

Merv's son Tony (and the marriage) was a beard to hide his gay-ness. That's why Merv hung out with the Gabor sisters and other glamorous women of his age group…no pressure or hassles.

well, good for him. you have to make your money work for you, and remain savvy and vigilant, no matter how much you have. ignorance is not bliss.

By taking them to court, there will be discovery, which will put a face on his claim one way or the other. Oversight demanding transparency never hurts. If the estate is run into the ground, and not saying it is, but even Tony's allowance could disappear. It's his legal right to clarify, and this is probably a concrete move in this day and age.

Merv's son should sue Merv's estate for having such a stupid-assed father.

  8. 8

If Merv's company owns Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy - among other things - it does seem like the son is not out of line asking for more money.

yes, yes — we all know that MERV was gay, and hung out with the LIZA-GABOR crowd. Neurotic rich women with no problems with homosexuality, so long as you accompanied them to dinner at Perino's.

So what ? Welcome to "secret" Hollywood - er, Beverly Hills, darhlinks !
