Did Twitter Jack Their Idea???
According to TechRadium, a tech manufacturer of mass-notification systems, YES!
The Texas company claims they have a patent for inventing the concept Twitter is based off of and is filing suit against the website for patent-infringement.
According to reports:
"TechRadium said its IRIS (Immediate Response Information System) technology allows a group administrator, or message author, to originate a single message to be delivered simultaneously via multiple communication gateways to members of a group of message subscribers, who can receive the messages via voice message, text message or email, according to TechCrunch."
Uh-oh! Not very good news for the Twitterverse.
Hopefully, Twitter will be able to afford to pay them off and keep the tweeting alive!

the technology is obvious and they don't have to pay for it if they came up with it independently.

The patent system is a total joke. There are many companies that simply register patents for ideas (without having a workable product or any intention of creating one) and then wait to sue someone who actually starts a profitable business.
