There will never be another Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, and now the duo of Bens that took over the iconic At The Movies program understand that all too clearly.
After only about a year, hosts Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz have been canned and replaced with film critics A.O. Scott of the New York Times and Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune.
We give those two about another year before they get the boot as well and then the show gets canceled.
There's just no replacement for Siskel & Ebert.

ben lyons is a loser I know his daddy was a film critic and thats how he got his start, but just cause your parent is talented doesnt me you have the gift. he sucks couldnt stand him on e! either.

Yeah i never understood how Ben Lyons get to be a critic just because his dad was one hell he's to young and stupid get somebody thats made a film
I didn't even know At The Movies was still on.
And now that I do I still won't watch.
Ben Lyons is a loser. He hated good movies and loved the worst. Anyone who thinks "I am legend" is one of the best movies ever made should not be telling other people what to watch. But I hate all critics, who are they to tell me what is good or bad.
Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert were great because they were REAL! Not for show, how do I look and want to fit in douches.
They weren't pretty but the were witty and sharp!

Ben M was pretty decent, but Ben L was a joke. I did watch their show though, and I'll continue to watch it with these two new guys as well.
It is a good show for neophyte film buffs (not a put down, consider myself one), but regular peeps are definitely not going to watch. Rotten Tomatoes needs a show. Get someone funny to host it, and you got yourselves a winner.
haha i fucking hate ben lyons too. couldn't stand his ugly annoying ass on e! and i def. didn't know that FUCKING LOSER had a show either. he's a joke. he needs to go away forever. nobody would care BEN! drop dead you fucking stupid ass tool.
Michael and Scott both guest-hosted when Ebert was out recovering from surgery, and they both did excellent jobs keeping the style and the format of the show true to Siskel and Ebert's version. This is a step in the right direction.
However-Ebert and his former co-host Roeper were in talks to premiere a review show this fall (w/ the thumbs up/down) with Phillips, Roeper and Cristy Lemiere. So I wonder how that will affect things…
I'm sad about this. I really like both of them. And Ben Lyons is super hot. Oh, how I'll miss that cute smile…
I'm not surprised that Ben Lyons was fired. You could have found the same kind of input from any 15 year old on the internet. The other Ben was fine, though.
Roger Ebert is still doing reviews! I see him constantly at press screenings in Chicago. He just had a lot of medical problems in the past few years and lacks the ability to speak these days. He's blogging away though.

I didn't really mind Mankiewicz but Lyons was just annoying. I disagree with no one being able to replace Siskel & Ebert because I think that Ebert & Roeper was pretty good. I've seen episodes in the past with Michael Phillips and A.O. Scott as guests and I really like them! Especially Phillips, I thought he would be the obvious choice to replace Ebert in the first place! The show has a lot of potential and I will definitely be tuning in !

I kinda agree with you on that ones! The two Bens suck!!! They are not reputable film critics. However their new replacements are reputable writers with leading national newspapers!!!

I watch the show and eventhough I like both men, I think Ben Lyons is not yet prepared to conduct this kind of show. Good luck to both of them in their future endeavors.
