So sad.

Legendary director John Hughes has passed away at the young age of 59.

Hughes suffered a heart attack during a morning walk while visiting his family in NYC on Thursday.

Hughes was responsible for writing and directing some of the most iconic movies of the '80s, such as The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

He will be greatly missed.

    83. 83

John Hughes, MJ, my Grandma. This past month and a half, everything relevant besides my parents and Madonna are gone from my childhood. John had an AMAZING concept for what teen movies should be, and for that, we thank you and will miss you. R.I.P., and may your family find comfort in all you've inspired and left behind.

He spoke for my generation. How terribly sad he's gone.

    91. 91

Re: helen2009 – Good appropriate quote!!!

Perez, let's hope there is coverage of statements from actors from his movies here, eh? He was held in very high regard by just about every one to my knowledge.

    92. 92

      RIP! He was GREAT!!!

    93. 93

R.I.P he made practically all my favorite movies and made me relate to all the characters.

    94. 94

Oh, how sad, he was from my time and he made some of my favorite movies then, especially The Breakfast Club and Some Kind of Wonderful (Eric Stolz, Mary Stuart Masterson a.o.), but the others were great too, much better then most teenmovies today, especially in comedy, it's too much like American Pie humor, wich get's old real soon. That he was just 59, I thought he would be older by now, but very sad, my dad died the same way when he was just 60 years old and I still miss him after 15 years, I still think about him often, like little reminders, nostalgia….

R.I.P. In Nominé Padre, et Fîle, et Spiritus Sancti, Amen, much love and prayers to his family and friends, co-workers and his fans and there are a lot of them, peace!!
