Mimi, Are You Ok?

As a favor to her hubby, Nick Cannon, who just happens to be the host of America's Got Talent, Mariah Carey performed on the show last night.

Mimi sang her latest single Obsessed, but there was something off about it all.

The performance was very reminiscent of Britney's VMA gig back in 2007: dull, disappointing and down-right awful.

      Great performance! I really liked it -she looked great. Snaps to her for going outside her comfort zone and pulling it off. Love the ponytail song is growing on me and Shes not the greatest dancer but she never was at least shes trying something new. The problem i think is that she was bothered by her back up vocalist volume level was too high. Perhaps its the same back up singer from the Touch My Body mess up way back when in times square….. Anyway She was great. She didnt dance that much but then shes singing.

      At 1.54 she does the classic mariah "I'm bothered by that" smile. Her backing singer got on her nerves. (the same smile she did when whitney used chest voice at the oscars and tried to blow her away)

      Also i think her heels look great but shes uncomfortable walking in them.

      Still a good performance. This song doesnt cal lfor vocal gymnastics. its a straight forward mid tempo urban track.

      She sang live, sounded good, fab high note at the end and looked hot (lil bigger, but hot) She's never been a dancer and wish she would stop, when your voice is that good you dont need to and I found the performance very entertaining - in a good way!

      She was probably nervous to begin with as she knew she was going to picked up seven hundred times and didnt want to fall!!!

      The problem here is that back when Mariah started out she could get away just trying to look cute and sexy, not really move a whole lot on stage. Now you have performers like Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Rihanna, and I don't think Mariah can afford to just stand there looking sexy and basically moving about like a cat in heat. If she wants to stay in the game she needs to give a more energetic performance and lighten up with the backup track. She could learn a thing or two from Beyonce….seriously. This performance was a pretty cool song, cool dancers…….an overpowering backup track, and one cat in heat wearing heals. I love Mariah, but wasn't impressed.

      Mariah knows that she isn't a good dancer. She can move her hips a bit and she does the same moves whenever she is dancing to an upbeat song, but she is NO DANCER. She is a singer/song-writer.

      Also, since the BEGINNING of her career (1990), she always said she had stage fright and she becomes very, very nervous. She was obviously nervous here since she hasn't performed live in a good while. Her nervousness was really cute anyway and her voice was also very good. The back up singers on the other hand, were pitchy and not even trying to harmonize with her (hence why she would smile when they went out of tune). Fortunately this made her look top knotch. Her personality really shined her too: Cute and funny.
