Hope For Paula To Return To Idol?
Honestly, we think not, but Nigel Lythgoe, the man behind So You Think You Can Dance seems to think otherwise.
He is holding off from giving Paula Abdul a position on his Idol-esque dance competition show because he believes the decision to let Paula go might be reversed.
However, if he'd pay close attention to the media, he would have read exactly how Fox Entertainment chairman Peter Rice feels about the situation when he said "Our understanding is we’ve concluded the negotiations and Paula has announced she will not be coming back."
That sounds like a done deal to us. Course, you never know what the power of the fans will do. We'll just have to wait to see how it all pans out.
But Nigel is very keen to book Paula. So even if no Idol return is in her future, America won't have time to miss the wacky judge for long.
Nigel says, "I don’t know anybody that’s had her experience of being a dancer, of being a choreographer and of being a judge."
A perfect fit, we think. Except putting Mary Murphy and Paula in the same room might not be the greatest idea ever.

AI is more stupid than I thought. I loved the show for 8 years. Paula is the heart of the show, Simon is the bitchiness. Nothing else really matters. "Yo dog" and "showing artistry" are just idiots.
can't they just REPLACE mary with paula? i can't stand mary, she's the reason that i don't really watch sytycd..

Re: tigrrrlilly – Why do you say that? B/c she turned down $8 million? Of course that seems ludicrous to regular non-celeb folk, but you have to see it in context. Ryan Seacrest received the raise of a lifetime and Paula didn't. That's why negotiations broke down.
I can totaly understand how you can be working at a job and everyone around you receives big raises but you do not. It's humiliating. She feels unappreciated and disrespected. It's human nature.
I'm sure if Seacrest and others didn't received those huge raises, Paula wouldn't have had a fit and would still be working there. She actually seems like a sweet person for a celeb.

ryan seacrest is the engine that moves the show along. he is responsible for keeping the timing together and insuring that the pace works on air.
all paula has to do is sit there and wait for somebody to say, "what do you think, paula?"
then she launches into 5 minutes of rambling idiocy that goes nowhere, makes no sense & eats up minutes needed for performance. she's been overpaid by scores for years. she doesn't deserve the money she has made. she's horrifically embarrassing to watch. she's toast. enough.

I never really understood why she was a judge on AI to begin with. She's a lousy singer (and that's being kind). She a dancer, for cripes sake. "So You Think You Can Dance" would be the perfect fit for her. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
i love BOTH Mary Murphy and Paula, but i think that they would eat each other alive if both were on the judging panel of SYTYCD.
But I'd pick Paula over Mary Murphy ANY day!

She was and is a complete mess, her comments don't make sense, she doesn't speak the truth and her antics with Simon was very DISRESPECTFUL TO THE CONTESTANTS…you know…who the show is ABOUT! Screw her! She had nothing before Idol came along, they brought her the fame again that SHE LOST. They offered her quite a bit of $$ and she turned into a stupid greedy bitch. She is nothing and is not worth a larger contract. She doesn't bring anything but embarrassment and humiliation to the show. She should've been fired years ago!!!

Not likely. Victoria Beckham was on the radio with Ryan Seacrest this morning…announcing that she'll take the place of Paula.
SHE WAS GETTING PAID $10,000,000 TO SIT THERE AND DO MOSTLY NOTHING TO BAD SHE COULDN'T KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT…THATS A GOOD PAY CHECK AND SHE BLEW HER RIDE…DUMMY.
Idol should give her what she wants and bring her back pronto!

I'd love to see her on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. .and it WILL happen this fall. Howver, I expect Paula to be back in her seat… HER RIGHTFUL SEAT in January. She will miss most of the auditions, but should make it back in time for Hollywood week.. IDOL can't move on without her, and these hard ball tactics are just for publicity.
