Billy Mays' Family Want A Second Opinion!

The family of legendary pitchman Billy Mays are slamming the medical examiner who believes cocaine was a factor in Mays' death back in June!!!
The Mays family finds the results of Billy's autopsy to be "speculative conclusions" and believe the complication of coke in their loved one's death "[obscures] the conclusion that Billy suffered from chronic, untreated hypertension."
Yikes!
Mays had been treating chronic pain for a "hip condition" with prescription meds for the past two years.
Says the family in a statement released Friday:
Given the hectic nature and pace of Billy's life, especially during the past 10 months of his exhaustive travel across the country, it was not surprising to hear that hypertension was the cause of his death. We were totally unaware of any non-prescription drug usage and are actively considering an independent evaluation of the autopsy results.
Can U say denial??????

Uno?
The whole thing is sad. My heart goes out to his family.
if everyone in his whole family had no idea he did coke, then i would say get a second evaluation too. why not be totally certain?
Re: htownboy – Si ..lol
Can U say … How insulting that is to the family?
..
What a mean thing to say to a family grieving such a loss. You really are a fucktard Barby.
It's got to be denial. I would trust the M.E., a DOCTOR, to know what they are talking about. Also, him to have done so much coke it contributed to heart problems, SOMEONE had to know, his wife, business associates, friends… someone knew.
Maybe it was'nt coke…it was oxyclean he was snortin'! I bet he had some hookers and did some oxyblow when he was out of town!
family is always last to know, but good idea to get a second opinion. I hear that if the first examiner was wrong, the body will come back to life
DENIAL!
Well, it is what it is. It suck's for the family to have this revealed to them with the public. Except it, pray about it and move on.
Oh well, they wouldn't be the first family out of the loop on what someone does on the side. They're grieving, cut them some slack, geez!
Accept it unpleasant as the findings were. Sounds like he was doing more than sleeping in his hotel rooms when he was on the road, ie. sniffing lines of coke.
oh ya
Re: PerezTheBlogNazi –
it's "accept" sweetie
Re: Penguins Fan!! –
being a nice guy has nothing to do with drug use
and don't dis my boy Vince Shlomi
SLAP CHOP
Have you ever seen this guy on TV? He's constantly gacked out of his mind, yelling and screaming about some useless product that no one could get excited about unless they had a dozen lines up their nose. His greedy family members are just bitching because his life insurance won't pay off due to his illegal cocaine usage. He was a drug addict, so just accept it. Ha ha ha…
not to dwell on a non issue, but it was the hooker who got beat up after she bit Shlomi's lip
so he had to slap chop da hooker
Re: Nostradamus – Actually she bit his tongue and wouldn't let go so he punched her. I was just googling it earlier after hearing about it. The pics of him look nothing like the way he does in the sham wow thing. He's like 44 years old! The one pic of him makes him look like a tired drug addict.
Anyway—-I hate thinking that Billy snorted coke. So many people say, so what? It's just coke—everyone I know does coke, etc, etc. But where I live coke isn't so commonplace. Say no to drugs.
Would hate to be famous!
I guess we know why he loved the oxyclean so much….he loved that white powder…still a fucked up situation for the family though.
lmao! they are so fucking dumb! DENY DENY DENY DENY dumb asses… how humiliating tho!!
vince beats up hooker in florida, billy mays dies in florida. spooky
they're definitely in denial, but what family wouldn't be if they had no idea he was doing it? i'd want a reevaluation also, just to be 100% positive about it.
Re: proloz32 –
Yeah, those peeps don't have a clue. Just coke? Cocaine is one hell of a drug! A LOT of people have ruined their lives and/or OD'd from 'just coke'
I'm content with cannabis…
To those people who told you that everyone they know does coke, they might want to consider getting a new social circle, moving, rehab, or all of the above
Re: iluvselenagomezsomuch –
lot of crazy shiz goes down in Florida
ur right, this doesn't help the state's image
No joke.
Reality bites, people. Get over it.
d-e-n-i-a-l!
it's still always good to get a second opinion especially since the results came totally from left feild.
For one, putting hip condition in quotations is insanely insulting. He'd had two hip replacements already and was actually scheduled for a THIRD, actually the day after he died on that Monday. Two, there are several reasons to ask for a second opinion. One being the examiner that performed did NOT have to have a second opinion which is generally required in many cases like this. Another being that there is probably a huge life insurance policy at stake. Yet another is that it IS possible to hide use from family members and if they never saw it - would you take a single strangers word who didn't even fill out the report properly - such as usage, amounts in the system and who tipped off the media before the family? I'm not saying it isn't there, but I do quite clearly see why they'd want one.
crazy IS ALL I CAN SAY….R.I.P BILLY MAYS
they should get a second opinion
If it was my family member that died at that young of an age, I'd ask for a second opinion also. But having said that, I'm seriously doubting that they mistakenly find cocaine in people's systems that often. I'm sure the bloodwork is already checked twice before that info is released to the public.
I think it was wrong of the media to report ANYTHING about the autopsy. Let the man rest in peace. I feel horrible that his family had to hear that shit, even if it is true, is that anyone's business? NO! The media is going to far, there is absolutely zero respect for anyone's privacy no matter who they are, it's disgusting.
I remember Billy Mays all the way back to when he was on one of the Home Shopping Channels.I enjoyed his personality and I am sad that he is gone.
Give me a break.
They guy was taking two very strong painkillers and two (or was it three?) anti-anxiety meds- even people with chronic pain and need painkillers can be addicts, there should have been no need for all of those drugs, so I wouldn't put it past an addict with a “hectic schedule” to use street drugs as well…..
Why are all these people lately not taking Medical Examiners reports as fact? The family of that lady who killed herself and 7 other people was found to have twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood, alcohol in her stomach, marijuana in her system and a bottle of vodka in her car- Michael Jacksons family is reportedly requesting a third autopsy and now Billy's family is questioning the validity of his autopsy findings. I understand denial but these people need to take these professionals and their very accurate tests as fact.
Re: proloz32 – Who said everyone they know does coke? "Everyone" meaning their parents, siblings, family members, husband/wife-girlfriend/boyfriend, all their friends and co-workers? I couldn't find that comment but if someone wrote that, that's pretty sad!
I'm ashamed to say I used it in my younger party days and I never understand how anyone can function on it- I only did it in the evening in social surroundings and it always made me feel crazed, talk incessantly about nonsensical subjects and made me very depressed for days after using it. I knew a few very successful people (a Lawyer and his wife who had kids, an Account Executive, a Salon Owner) who used it daily during work hours and I never understood how they pulled it off.
Re: Nostradamus –
sadly i live in the most boring town in the whole state
They are worried about the value of his infomercials dropping like a rock.
Again, we lose so many to this addiction thing. May he rest in peace. I was thinking the very same. Someone is in denial bigtime! If u live with a person that long, u usually know what makes them tick!Very Sad thing. He will b missed. What happened to the celebration of the life he did have?
HELLO!!! Cocaine raises blood pressure BIG TIME and that is what hypertension is……
Can you say coke can cause HTN? The family needs to just move on, oh but wait there is an insurance battle to begin I am sure.
First of all, the ME who performed the autopsy is INCREDIBLY unprofessional to release information to the public in this case. He ought to have his license lifted. And what exactly was his motive for releasing this alleged "cocaine" finding? Second, there might be insurance money at stake here and there certainly is a HUGE law suit over that plane crash fiasco. How come it doesn't occur to anybody that an ME can make a mistake or be incompetent? Maybe he was BOUGHT? ME is an elective office in some places. And even if its not elective, it's a "political appointment." You ever hear of a politician being incompetent or corrupt? Why wouldn't an insurance company or an airline bribe the ME? Wake up peeps. Time to call in Cyril Wecht, ME to the world (as seen on Geraldo).
Hypertension can be caused by street drugs amongst other evil substances.
Well I'm still using my Oxi Clean! RIP Billy it does not matter now anyway!
THEY SHOULD BE HAPPY HE WAS A COKE USER. AT LEAST HE WASNT GAY, JUS THINK HOW EMBARASSING THAT WOULD BE!!!!!
my family have NO idea wot i get up to………………..
Re: Hamburger Helper – Lmfao!
Re: imsoregistered – A medical examiner does not have to get a second opinion regardless of how high profile the case may be. They have the final say as to what goes on a death certificate considering their sole job is to determine cause and manner of death. Now different states may have different laws but the state I live in, what I said above, is factual. If the family wants a second opinion that is their choice as they are the ones that have to live with the facts and the reality of their departed loved one.
Re: Clodius – Medical Examiners are not appointed or elected officials. They are doctors and are hired like anybody else. You are thinking of coroners. Now a Chief Medical Examiner is a Medical Examiner who had been hired and then appointed Chief (the head Medical Examiner who oversees the other Medical Examiners, i.e. their boss). I'm assuming the Medical Examiner who worked on this guy was not the Chief.
Also, varying on state statutes/laws, autopsy reports and cause/manner of death are public knowledge, meaning that anyone can request/order an autopsy report which includes the press. This also means that some of the information can be given out over the phone. It doesn't sound like this Medical Examiner or anyone at the facility broke an rules.
Can you say denial? What just because one source says it first that means it's true?
Stop dragging other people through the mud to boost yourself up. YOU didn't know him, you weren't in his personal life, so you know alot less than they do.
Re: Dr. Cornelia J. Dogbarker PhD rescinded – Wow, how fucking pathetic is your life to say such crap?
You think he could have been a coke head on a reality show? It was obvious he didn't have coke in his system when filming those commercials He was just as big on pitchmen when filming and a calm normal person when they weren't.
